The corn is cooked in salt. The thing you were asking is salt. That's why they are salty. Try it with Masala and Lime juice (just a little bit)

It is 70% sand and 30% salt , sand is the main thing in it not salt , salt cant be kept hot for much longer unlike sand so they add 70% sand to cook the corn
@@unknown1351 in Karachi, it is only salt or salt quantity is higher. That's why we use Masala or we rub some Lime over it just to make that less sour.
@@wasilalishah6200 next time when you go eat it from some pathan dont forget to ask them , i truly beleived that it was pure salt before someone told me and i confirmed this from 2,3 vendors , if it would be only salt then it taste would suck trust me too much salt sucks i have tried to cook it at home with pure salt

A little tip; if you have to buy something in grams (by weight) like the halwa, just show them an Rs.100 note ( or however much you want to spend) and point to the dish you want. They will adjust the weight according to it. Hope you enjoy the stay :)

The corn vendor was roasting corn in salt that had turned black as he uses it regularly. And he also tired to ask you if you find this back at your hometown. I hope this helps👍🏻

Adding few details for information to visitors. The first guy was making corn in black salt (which looked like sand) thats why it was so salty, weighing machines are very common in tourist places in Pakistan you might spot one at every landmark, the population of lahore is around 22 million, sooji is semolina that is whole wheat, that white thing in halwa was khoya (condensed milk with coconut). Pro tip, NEVER ask a Lahori for directions, they are notorious for giving bad directions. Other than that hope you have a great time during your visit.

Saddened by all the floodings that have happened here due to the typhoon Harry. Sort of like what happened there in PK. I hope no more storms coming since a lot of areas are saturated now. Some parts of Cebu got flooded. But thank God that Palawan and Bohol didn't suffer much i think. But one of Boracay's entry points - Kalibo, was badly flooded. The other one (Caticlan) is okay. Well, PH is in the typhoon belt and in the Pacific Ring of Fire, so these things are common here. Though sadly, climate change has made things worse.
Anyway, if you're planning to return soon, just stay in Manila for a few weeks (and maybe do some of the areas outside of Manila also like Tagaytay) before heading off to the southern islands.
