When you gave them money everyone seem so puzzled and confuse just because nobody expect anyone in Pakistan to give someone this much amount of money. The reactions are cold because of the language barrier as well, as many Pakistani can't speak English. Also in the South Asian culture the people's self respect and self image do not let them appreciate such gestures very openly but I can confirm that all those whom you gave the money are extremely happy and they would celebrate your gesture and generosity with their family and friends in your absence.
