I dont think the people who say your bikes too quick for the road actually ride bikes, like in 90% of cases a car is better for the road, the only time i can think a motorbike would be better is if you live in and commute around a city or your commute to work has lots of traffic, in that case anything above a cbr250r is too fast for the road, with 1000cc bikes id say they are too fast to properly enjoy on the road because you cant use all theyve got but they're still fun in a straight line, some people cant afford to have both a track bike and a road bike so they get a track bike for the road
Well, i may get bullied for riding a small cc bike but that spectrum goes both ways and if some lad wants an rsv4 or s1000rr as a daily, they need not be barraged with bs lol 😅😅
I fully agree, I think my Grom is just too fast and whenever I take off it makes me do wheelies. I need to go back to my e-scooter where I only do wheelies once every 3 launches. I heard that wouldn't be a problem for Rebel 500's since they are so slow so I might have to get me one.
Ppl moaning about speed...Speed is dangerous because the pilot is not adept at managing those speeds. Add to that the pilot is probably not keen on how other ppl are to react to him and his speed. Fun Fact: when you exceed the "typical" speed of traffic others around you will just not see you because they are not geared up to watch for ppl traveling at those speeds. MEANING. If you choose to play in that rehlm you need to be on point. You need to take into account no one is seeing you, you need to have plenty of reaction time, you need to be a star on your bike, you need to be able to read traffic like a clarvoyant. THEN you can go fast. If any of that is not in play i would not advise it. I am blessed with all that and i doooo 200+ bioches! And that was not on the track. ;)
My record was 8 cops on me on my way to put on some new tires. I know! 2 moto bikes, 2 undercover, and the rest cruisers. All INSUFFICENT! If i can get away happy and alive. I deserve to play how i want dammit. Im not hurting anyone but the cops feelings.
To much power for the road would mean no one could ride it on the road safely. Might be true with a rocket powered bike, but generally not a thing. To much bike for the person riding it, thats a thing. But I usually don't have reason to tell people that. When I meet they, they have figured it out for themselves. Although I once had a new rider come look at a used 250 ninja I had for sale. I knew him so I told him that was about as big as he should start with. He said he would think about it. Two weeks later I responded to a crash where someone looped a 600 shifting in to second gear at the crest of a hill. I pull up, get out, walk up to a guy sitting in the ditch covered in road rash, "Hey Travis, bought a bigger bike I see." Interesting day...
GPZ or Ninja 250 is a great first bike. They are usually fairly cheap, will do the speed limit no worries and once you've done with it you can usually sell it to the next person for about what you paid for it. I had one when I came back to riding after a few years away. I put a 1 tooth bigger sprocket on the front and used to get over 450 kms from a tank of petrol and I never needed 6th gear again.
Get what you can afford and just enjoy yourself. Being an old fart and way past my boy racer days I'm quite happy puttering around on my 82 VF 750 Magna. It's in the process of getting a sidecar fitted as It's getting harder to get on and off it and I don't bounce as well as I used to if I drop it. The rego is cheap $227 for 3 years and full comp. insurance it's under $10 a month for nearly $18,000 cover.
i got a R15 low cc only 150 but the weight is light as so i can get to 60 in third gear pred quickly maybe 3-5seconds depending on if i dump throttle for it also great for me cause its my first bike and its forgiving on my fuck ups compared to more expensive bikes
I am looking forward to testi g zs many bikes as i can before i buy a new one 😊 I.may have to borrow a gold chain and some gold rings, but i am old 😊😊😊😅😅
@sergeantwombat the Honda 500 Rebel or CB500 or Kawasaki z400 or Z500 or z650 ( not Ninjas) or W800 or Enfield Interceptor 650 DARK or this new Kymko 550 scooter.... Too many interesting bikes.... should keep me busy to Xmas 😀😃🙂🙃😊
First and foremost. Do you know how to read traffic? Do you even know what that means? If you don't know this one just stop. Seriously don't even start riding. FIgure this out first. THEN learn how to ride a moto second. If you don't know how to read traffic then your ability to ride is moot. You need to be comfortable in traffic THEN on the bike. If your not this person you will be scared all the time. OR you will be a drama queen whining about how the Nissan Altima almost took you out cause they "didn't see me" Yea get used to it. ACT as tho no one sees you. These are the things that kill ppl. Dont whine to me about how traffic is gonna kill you. Stop riding if this is you.
I learned how to ride on a Honda Rebel 300! I did work my way up 300, 500, 600, 800,1000,1100,1300 LOL i settled on a V4S 😈 Looking back tho those first 2 rides on the highway for the first time i was terrified. Then i said to myself. Self... you know how to read traffic this is no different. Well it is cause i can squeeze through gaps i never could before affording me the ability to really move. What a blessing!
v4s would be a fun time! True tho with traffic, watching soooo many crashes just makes you like bruh... it was so obvious if you didnt ride like an ass...

It's not speeding that is dangerous. It's all those stationary and unpredictable cars in the middle of the damn road.

Some people can't be told... and lessons learned sometimes have to be done the hard way lol
