Samut giving haste is so when you use the last counter to give a creature +2/+1 and she dies, the creature she buffs will have haste even though Samut is dead.

    • @hepic2874
      @hepic2874 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I think samut is very good, since she also has 5 loyalty and you get to scry each time so yeah alongside that fiving haste she makes sense

    • @ojo018

I can see this maybe only in two-headed-giant format.

    • @joshr408
      @joshr408 ปีที่แล้ว

It does also make when you think how the turn would actually play out. You play samut, and if it isn't countered on the stack, the next time anyone can respond is to the loyalty activation (unless you do something else first) and that creature will get haste even if samut get blown up. So actually if the loyalty ability didn't give haste, the card would actually worse.

Garruk Apex Predator shouldn't be on this list his abilities are to good, the only draw back would be the 7 mana cost but he is in green which makes 7 a lot easier to attain.

Garruk primal hunter made the list??? Damnnation. I made a mono green hydra deck loosely based off the professor’s (if ykyk) idea and I loved combining nissa who shakes the world and garruk primal hunter to pull legitimately all of my lands out of the deck, and then making 36-7 6/6 wurms. If my champion of lambholt managed to stick around too, that’s a game ender right there. But that’s a lot of pieces and I could understand how folks aren’t really a fan of big wind ups.

I wouldn't say powerstones are useless. While you can't use them for nonartifact spells, you're free to use them for any kind of card abilities, includikäng ones that are used when (eg kicker) or instead of (eg channel) casting a spell. And of course any abilities of in-play permanents.

45:00 there wouldnt be a point in using Samut's ability om your opponents creature since it lasts until end of turn. The opponents creature would lose haste ability as soon as you pass. But it wouldn't matter because the creature will lose summoning sickness as soon as you pass the turn to them. Giving it double haste makes no difference at all.

Bahamut is the god of all metallic dragons in DnD and those birds surrounding him are supposed to turn into ancient gold dragons. That is his lore and they used a picture acting like he is capable of making imposing dragons appear. Instead he just becomes a 7/7 dragon and he is capable of summoning monks instead of dragons. Grand Master of Flowers is a title for the strongest a monk can get back in older versions of DnD. The whole card is a spit in the face because whoever designed it knew everything about DnD, but nothing about the card mechanics of Magic. His counterpart turned out great. She ended up being a perfect depiction of a DnD character getting turned into a Magic card.

The key with Act of Treason effects is having a sac outlet. It's fine in the right Constructed deck, usually Rakdos, and similar effects aren't bad in Limited when one of the archetypes is Sac. Grab the critter, swing, sac it to get some bonus. It also works alright when the target is an Exert creature. I'm convinced I could come up with an Azorius Birds deck that's at least semi-competitive with Mu Yan Ling, Sky Dancer. Empyrean Eagle, Watcher of the Spheres, Nimble Obstructionist, other cheap flyers and birds with good abilities, and some disruption/counters.

About Garruk, Primal Hunter- if we're talking about competitive MTG, then by all means he is bad, but just like 5 Planeswalkers are really playable competitively. If we're talking kitchen table or commander, his -3 should always put you on a ridiculously high card advantage.

25:07 why don’t you understand that you are meant to use plus abilities first and then use the minuses only once you have enough loyalty that it doesn’t kill them, this goes for every planeswalker in the entire game.

Comments on a couple of these planeswalkers:
Niko Aris: This is one of the few cards that can instantly create a large number of enchantment tokens. It works well with cards that care about the number of enchantments you control or enchantments entering the battlefield (e.g. Eidolon of Blossoms).
Nissa, Steward of of Elements: Scry 2 each turn doesn't do anything? Even on a 3 mana planeswalker that doesn't require you to spend additional mana and goes up by 2 each turn if you scry? What were you expecting a +2 on a 3 mana planeswalker to do? For such a low cost, Scry 2 on a +2 ability is really good.
Geyadrone Dihada: This planeswalker is unlikely to just get smacked and die because each turn, you're putting a corruption counter on the opponent's best creature, preventing it from dealing damage to Dihada, while it goes up in loyalty. The main ability is the first one, not the second one. You aren't playing a 4-mana Act of Treason; you're playing a 4-mana planeswalker that drains 2 life from the opponent each turn and makes it difficult for their creatures to kill it.
Ajani Vengeant: In Modern, I've seen people use this card quite a few times in land destruction decks. They use it to tap down one of the few lands you have remaining, and if you manage to get out a small creature, they can just kill it with the -2.

im pretty sure Tibald won't ever be matched. the first line of text is all you need to know. It's the only +1 he's got, and "draw a card, then discard a card AT RANDOM" is an ability that never saw any play in any card in mtg history, ever. The rest are minus abilities but they don't matter since you're simply never getting to that much loyalty without putting yourself in a losing position. As far as I remember, he was actually SO BAD that people didn't even draft him in limited. I don't think you can say this about any other planeswalker.
Wasn't playing when Huatli was printed but I'd guess dinosaurs were common enough that at least you'd still draft her in limited.

Dovin, Grand Arbiter is actually alright. Just ignore the -1 almost entirely. He's quite nice in a few decks...essentially all of which are tokens decks. Esper Spirits and Azorius Soldiers are the main ones, but Jeskai Goblins is another avenue. It's trivially easy to get him to +8 with 1 activation of his first ability as you only need to swing wide and make contact with 4 chumps, then you are adding 3 off of a 10 filter. People complain because he doesn't have immediate impact, but he costs 3 mana and has a good ultimate that is piss-easy to accomplish.

Niko and Narset are both very underappreciated, but it depends on the format and build you're playing them in.
Niko's plus is a good option in flicker/etb piles. I acknowledge there are way stronger options but it's still one other thing you can do.
The shards are excellent in enchantress/constellation piles. I remember one time I won a game of EDH by having Doomwake Giant and Archon of Sun's grace out and casting it for 4, making another shard with the -1, giving my opponents' creatures -5/-5 and netting me 5 pegasi.
I also run him in my Raff Capashen Historic Brawl & EDH decks as a pseudo-Sphinx's Revelation. It's not as strong as the OG Sphinx's Rev but it's another massive draw effect that pulls me ahead. The scrying is also super helpful in a singleton format where it's harder to get the cards I need when I need them.
Narset is an absolute all star in the 99 of a Kykar Historic Brawl/EDH deck. It's an ultimate in 3 turns if you plus and defend with spirit tokens, you're likely going to be running high costed cards in there for spirit sac payoffs anyways so the +1 and -2 are insanely helpful and don't need any extra deck tweaking. As for the ultimate, you're casting a bunch of noncreature spells to begin with. Between this and the possible aerial assault the clock for closing games out is insanely fast.

Samut , The tested isn't that bad that it's unrunnable.
Loved in decks with doubling season as it's a 4 cost tooth and nail once it's on the board.

i think the idea for dovin is to fill the board with small flyers and grow it rapidly using +1, then draw 3 with it every other turn. Very slow control card that does not have the needed flyers available.. maybe some day some faery deck could use it or something. Very slow.

I’d argue the Liliana Death wielder ult is still pretty bad. 7 mana to get back your creatures, is just a budget Rise of Dark Realms. (I only play commander so that’s how I formed my opinion)

So far, I don't agree with Nicol bolas and the garruk apex one. Those are both great in the late game when you have your board state and are going for that game ending move

I use Act Of Treason to steal an opponents creature atk with it, then sacrifice it to activate an ability of one of my cards.

Bolas the deceiver is made to play with Nekusar Mindrazer. I can’t call it a bad card for commander (with Nekusar)

Actually won a peasant cube game by activating Saheeli's ability. Played her, bolted to the face (and thus got a servo), activated her and turned my servo into a copy of my Charging Monstrosaur and attacked with both for lethal.

I don't actually think that Tibalt is *bad*. There are a few decks that can make use of him. Rakdos Madness, Grixis Midrange Control, and Izzet Burn can all properly appreciate him. To put it another way, I think that, from a general playability perspective, he's a solid 6/10 due to being useful in only a few decks.

      Lol.....
Even played to.a build around. Their are way better 2 mana core red spells that perform much better then tibalt. Tibalt is a terrible planeswalker and terrible card.

The argument that proliferate/doubling season/Vorinclex makes them broken can be said about most planeswalkers. Sure there are like 1-2 who have stupid good ultimates that can instantly go off with one of these situations but doesn't make the planeswalker good, it's because those cards/mechanics that help it are busted
