- Next in line for our Retro Review treatment is the Odyssey Dual Force Rossie 2 putter, made famous in the hands of Sir Nick Faldo to win the 1996 Masters Tournament. It has actually won multiple major championships and paved the way for Odyssey to become one of the leading putter brands. We picked it up for the bargain price of £48.99 from golfclubs4cash but to see if it still has the magic, Joe 'The Pro' Ferguson puts it to the test against the current Odyssey Ai One Rossie putter on the greens at Frilford Heath golf club. Can it still compete with the modern day equivalent? Watch to the end to find out!

What I gained from this video is that Putters are 90% marketing.
There’s certainly an argument for that thought my friend 😉
Agree, just choose between face balanced or toe balanced and then offset or not and where you want the shaft to enter in the club head, add toe heel or blade and then the weight and the grip.... :-) but really it is marketing most of it.
Still have one. Need to get it regripped and cleaned but let's gooo Rossieeeee
Nice! It’s a classic, really enjoyed reviewing it 👊🏻
I used to have that putter 20 years ago. It was my favorite, but I sold it chasing new technology. I regret that decision 😢
Yep, it’s an absolute cracker! Thanks for watching 🙏
John Ram also used this putter to win his 2 majors. And I've got one and love it so much.
I have four Scotty and recently switched to old Rossie II. It’s so steady and putts hold their lines. I bought another one immediately.
Mr. Ferguson- It's fun to see these "old vs. new" comparisons! For putters I would enjoy seeing how you could do with a Bullseye as opposed to any new design. Bob
Sounds like a good idea Bob! I’ll see what I can find 👍
A well hit putt no matter the putter will always have a good result.
Couldn’t agree more. I think the manufacturers today are focused on forgiveness and increasing the area of the face that gives you a well struck putt
The Odyssey Rossie II is my gamer. Combined with a SuperStroke Tour 3 grip it's a deadly putter. So easy to aim and stroke!
Love it!
Don't have a Rossie but have the White Hot #5 which isn't much different. I have way too many putters but I always seem to come back to the White Hot. Simple but effective.
Totally agree. In theory it’s super simple, use the same material as the ball and get a great feel right 🤷♂️ Still someone had to think of it though, and I hope they got a big pay rise!! Thanks for watching 🙏
I've got the same one, center shafted. Love it.
I putt with a BJ-1 & BJ-5 from Callaway. Pretty much perfect!
To note, on the warm up you had the old putter first and putted better with the second newer one, on the long putt test you had the new putter first and putted better with the old one, why, because you learned better the distance, on long putts, distance is more importance vs direction. On the last test, all is about direction to hole it and here you were equal. good test l I have the old Rossie II but the new Odyssey Ai looks really good. Might get one
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
Love your retro reviews Joe but why do you insist on using metres instead of feet
Because I picked up the wrong tape measure in my way out the door!!! 🙄
Used this for about 18 years. Only swapped it recently for an Ai one 7
I’ve been using this putter ( and have a spare) since 1996 and has been a weapon for me
Titleist 905 Driver next please
Good to see Joe le Pro with the and in hand - I could do with that stroke myself - maybe I need to trawl around the used putter market to find a friend!
The Odyssey Rossie II is among the best ever made.
As is the 2-ball.
Odyssey killed it for a few years.
Nice work…Joe.
Been using that very same Rossie II until very recently with great results, it is a very solid putter. Like it is mentioned in other comments here, it's much more about the indian than about the arrow
I still use my old Rossie blade. I’ve tried other putters and I’m just used to the feel and putt very well with it.
Putting is all about confidence. Don’t matter what putter you use. If you tell yourself you’re a lousy putter, you’ll be a lousy putter.
Just put a new grip mine last month. I find the face harder than my works 7 though.
Well, new means not automatically better. I stick over the 25/30 years old putters, a wilson tpa18 (faldo 89/90) and a ping zing 2 copper berylium which i used by my first club championship triumph. Both putters still work in 2024! But I'm thinking about a modern bladed putter like evnroll or a scotty Newport..
Rossi for the win.
Has to be better than the LAB branding iron, never seen anyone putting well with that
The new version is already only £120 on eBay
I still have one
If you putt well, any of them can hole putts. Nicklaus made most of his putts with a George Low blade putter with no helping aids at all.
Have you done an original anser v modern ever? I very much rarely get rid of a putter! Often use an old anser, zb, have an original Rossie 2 and about ten more 🤣🤣🤣
Certainly have! Did it earlier this year, just type in Golf Monthly Anser Retro or something like that 👌👌
@@JoeFerguson-cd4bg got it , watched it, loved it! Love this series
I never really like the look of those mallet heads and double bend putter shafts. Doesn't look like much difference for the money.
The Rossie 1 was better.
Dunno about that myself, but it’s all subjective! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏
This is a 'really really' annoying video
@@skyemac8 I was highlighting how many times he annoying says 'really really'.
Normally I try and ignore any negative comments, but I think this time you make a good point!!! Just listened to it back and I must be pushing a hundred “really’s” 😬 Something to reflect on for sure! Thanks for pointing it out 🙏
What a pointless video!
Weird comment
HEY kislux I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
