Looks great Austin! Keep up the hard work on a fun project! Really is coming together nicely. Before long you will have your sights on the maiden voyage 🎣
Just a good tip from a body repairman , when your spreading the fairing doesn’t keep going over it you just keep pulling it and it gets very rough looking and hard to sand smooth
Amazing job you are doing. Reminds me of a rotten 16' runabout I rebuilt when I was 14. I didn't do anything close to the level of work you are doing and it was a ton of work. Best feeling ever getting it on the water for the first time. I look forward to seeing that video.
I was wondering where you were ! What kind of fairing compound did you use?Dont even worry about the cottage cheese,it will sand right out,Doesnt need to be perfect yet. Btw ever heard of ply peel?
@@LindellAdventures Lol, its late, peel ply yes, its suposed to dry completly.then you just rip the sheet off, And really dont have to sand, maybe very light. A timesaver and its cheap. I used it a lot on honeycomb/ nidacore .You didnt answer my question still though..What fairing compound is that?
Good video, definitely making progress. I'm curious where did you learn how to do all of these things? Like I wouldn't have the first clue what to do if the transom was rotten. I've really been enjoying the whole series and I'm learning a lot.
I’ve never done anything like this project. I decided I’d do what it takes to restore it back to its glory and that promise made me do a ton of research on doing these things. I am so glad I did because it is a huge learning experience! Just jump in and research each part you’re doing and ask questions until you’re 100% sure and comfortable 👍 this is the reason I started this channel, to show people if I can do it, then they can!
@@LindellAdventures coosa isn’t cheap ! Lol. My transom is only 2” thick ( outboard ) but I wonder if there isn’t enough flex in hardwood compared to plywood ? I think I’m going to try hardwood glued laminated and glassed , with a transom only 18” I can use 2 boards . Just thinking out loud !
Good Job and I do this for a living, patience, patience, patience is the name of the game!
Thanks! It’s been fun so far
No one would put the love in it that you do!
good job mate....it will all seem like
a distant memory when your finished
I’m really enjoying it so far 👍
That's great
My dad always said
A labour of love is paid for
in blood, sweat,and tears
Hope you get to keep it
Lots of work and heart, looking better and better.
Thank you! It's been a blast!

She is coming along! Thank you.
Glad your back with a new boat Austin, love your content!

Good tip! Thank you
Even on that flat surface I'd have it looking like a fat girls ass😁
Awesome progress keep fighting pal it will be all worth it!!!
Spray some guide coat before you start sanding! It reveals any low spots very clearly and makes the whole process a bit quicker
I’ve wondered the name of it! Thank you, I will get some!
Do you like the pad style or spray better? What gram works best do you think?
So far I’ve only used the spray can style from Napa and it worked great. I’m not even sure gram it was! Project looks good so far, keep it up 👍
Soon Austin that fairing will look as soon as your head Lol . Keep it up Brother !!
Hopefully not that good! haha
@@LindellAdventures man that was supposed to be smooth , hate when that happens…

That sounds awesome! I look forward to it too!
Make sure after you get it where it’s Fairly smooth and level , you need to put a lot of gel coat and block sand it level again
Got the sanding ready to rock and roll today!
Love this music! Who is it?
Thanks! Which part/song do you like?
Looking awesome bud. was that a dave cameo at .036?
Dave Lindell, my dad 👍 oh hey Eric!

Haha yeah, first always looks the worst, hopefully haha do you mean peel ply? You could but it dries too fast it seems.

I was going to ask you if you thought about hardwood instead of plywood ? I’m redoing a transom also and am thinking about 2”x12” hardwood planks ?!
For the transom? If so I used (3) 1” Coosa boards laminated together. No plywood or wood on this boat 👍

Good to see you back at it. What fairing compound did you use?
Its the 3M poly fairing compound, I can post a link in a little bit!
Bondo
You should name the boat “Dirty Rotten Scoundrel” lol😊 since the theme of your build rotten this rotten that… and it is/was dirty
Haha you got that right!
are ou doing your fairing with autobody filler?
It’s a 3M fairing compound.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Get a bigger trowel
I have a few but like to work small areas and once the rough is out of the way, I will step up the size.
