Shreya did well in her own style! It is not easy to sing this song. However, when Janakima sang this song, it was like pattum name pavamum nane in thiruvilayadal. The world came to a standstill!!! There were a medley of emotions, voice clarity and high pitch throw, all became so surreal. When Janakima attempted this song on stages too, it was effortless and same as the original. How could anybody sing a song as this one so effortlessly is a great puzzle but then Janakima is from the Gandharva planet...she is immortal!!!

To sing this song on the stage, in a recorded show, with Ilayaraja also on stage is a huge deal! I have never heard an Akaram that matches what S Janaki has sung. There were also some places where pronunciation could have been better. This is still one of the best renditions of the song on stage! I can only imagine the amount of practice Shreya Ghoshal has put into it and the song is still challenging even for a singer of her caliber!

It struck me during the aalaap itsef that, Shreya couldn't bring the haunting mood or the verve of SJ. Still it is not bad being second to SJ. Nobody is doubting the skill of Shreya. Peace.

I saw Shreya singing Yeh zindagi usi ki hai. That prformance stolen my heart. That was originally Lata ji's song. She sang more than melodiously with her soothing, mellifluous voice.
But this song couldn't reached that level well. Although there are lot of limtations to her, but the aalaap is enough to proove who is janakiyamma.
