@@ecman324 At first, you need a good reason to quit. Great video . I gave up alcohol 5 years ago in my early 20s my best decision of my life so far. I don't even think about it it's just who I am . Also gave up meat 4 years ago too . Not that I am against either meat or alcohol of course not . Just that I chose to live my life without the consumption of these two things because I thought it would greatly impact my life in a positive way. My next challenge is to give up refined sugar which I think is a big one for most of us. But if I can give up alcohol and meat I can give up refined sugars. Also the whole "giving up" thing I decided I want to "add" into my life some habits. 1. Weight Lifting Consistently 2. Daily Mindfulness Breathing 3. Daily Yoga I can do this.
Congratulations and well done on your own personal journey. I found this video to be very inspirational and I am starting to think of things I could do without in my life, thank you for sharing your experience with us and I like the sound of your new daily goals, weightlifting, mindfulness and breathing exercises, can I suggest if you don’t already know about it, it’s a breathing exercise called the Wim Hof method aka the iceman. I traded off refined sugar for coconut sugar and the transition was really smooth ...I later traded off coconut sugar for honey and I now bounce between Honey and Maple syrup if I just have to have a sweetener ..I have no regrets and I feel dramatically better for it... Also gave up alcohol approx.15 years ago and I just can't imagine ever drinking again ...that type of alteration isn't as pleasant as we think when we're young. Be Well *

This CD is very calming th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq the first meditation focuses on breathing, the second guides you through the Buddhist metta bhavana--loving kindness to all, and the third is a meditation to be used when walking. him is originally from Scotland, so there is a little accent to his voice, but it is very soothing and not at all distracting. If you are a beginner to meditation, this CD will walk you through all the steps of relaxing and breathing as well as sending out the positive thoughts of love and kindness that will be returned to you. We have several CD's, but this one is a favorite that we choose most often.
@@berkhanoguz987 Warren Buffett said it once, but I think the actual quote is from Samuel Johnson. I made a video about habits, and I hate to publicitate but I would really aprecciate feedback on it! If you don't want it, no problem!
if peoples know about more things like these kind of things I think that's gonna give way much differences. So participating and being willingful for sharing information is totally right don't hate publicating. I hope I'm clear about what I say.
Another thing that will help to decrease bad habits is being disciplined with your schedule. For instance, I pretty much eat whatever I want. Sounds good right? The catch is I only do this on Saturday. From sunrise to sunset, if I want it, I consume it. The other 6 days of the week I eat ultra healthy and stay focused on work and getting everything organized. On Saturday, I let loose on any restriction I have. It doesn’t mean I force myself to eat unhealthy or to drink a bunch of alcohol or anything like that, it just means I don’t have to be strict on that day. What I have found is when Saturday roles around, I don’t have as much desire to do those things. I feel good from the way I treat myself all week. Bad habits have been falling off hard as I have been doing this.
I have eliminated 10 bad habits in the last year or 2. I started by recognizing the bad habits, documenting them (how much, how often ect) and sloooooowly scaling them back until, as he said, they were no longer something I do. Nice to see a video like this and be able to say with no B.S. this works!
"When people identify their behaviour they do or don't do as part of who they are, it become much easier to resist." wow! I dint realize I was applying this in my life already. To give an example, I quit eating meat 3 years ago, at the beginning I had the urge to eat it but now I just don't feel like. Because that's not who I am. Wow! Thank you for this!
I did this 17 years ago on New Years with pizza, my favorite food which I was absolutely addicted to and knew every good pizza shop within miles around(mushroom was my favorite) and went to certain ones often. It was destroying me. I finally set a day and did it. If you have time please comment. Thanks.
“For the rest of my life” may work for some. The forever part makes it more difficult for me, probably many others as well. It seems so big, when you think of never again. That’s why people say to take it one day at a time. Don’t worry about never having a drink, cigarette, whatever, ever again. Just think, right now I’m not gonna do that. I’m strong enough to not do that right now.
But you will again get into the habit loop. Giving away at once is the technique which highly educated saints like Swami Mukundananda also suggest and others as well
Do you think it's possible for me to quit stealing ... I've been taking my parents money without their permission from 2013 and now I'm addicted I want to stop and o don't know how ..is there a way I can change
It is about changing your beliefs and subconscious so your habits reflect them. It doesn’t take years...in fact, that belief will keep you held back. It takes daily commitment starting right now. Procrastination is your mind trying to keep you safe.
This is a great process. Hypnotherapy can quicken the pace to months vs years. The mind is focused on needs so you have to satisfy the need another way. Changing this using hypnosis happens quickly. You don't need therapy. Talk therapy keeps the problem going by focusing on it. Hypnotherapy can be content free.

Along with many of the other examples listed ultimately finding a neutral, well balanced health and fitness regime is the best for success. Go deep and find gratitude. Thank you for sharing!
This resonates very much. Thank you. I had a friend tell me a few years ago that you have to make it believable for yourself otherwise you get all screwed up (not her words). Thanks for the reminder. Despite what you call it, it feels like a gentler transition than going extreme and that feels balanced. Much appreciated. I believe it can take as long as it takes each person to "get it" and wake up. It does not have to be years.
Found this video by chance today and I loved everything that was said. I gave up fizzy drinks 3 years ago ( was addicted to them) and what he said about just 'not doing' something instead of 'I can't do' really rings true with me as its just who I am now.
I just don't smoke anymore. I just don't do it. It's no longer a part of who I am. Since last Friday 😏 today will be day 5 without 😊 This video is a huge part of my current success. 🙏🏻💞🍃
Absolutely love this. So true. What is the first thing we want to do when we tell ourselves we can't have x??? We crave X and then binge it. But if we say we no longer will have it, that means we have made that decision because it is the one that has reasoning to outweigh having X.
As someone whose goal is to lose 40lbs and constantly “failing” at diets this was a real eye-opener. Maybe my approach has just been all wrong. Lovely video and I will be trying this technique!!
About 8 months I stopped using refined sugar adjusted my eating habits and started training after a very long lay off. What this guy is talking about makes a lot sense.
This takes a lot of weight off my shoulders. Really, it is so inspiring to know that there is amateur level mentality and expert level mentality. You do not need to be an expert at everything. Take your time to become an expert at things that are important to you. Keyw part is take your time. Thank you so much for this video.
Exactly. I've been practicing this for years. Slowly eliminating things from my diet and adding new things. Start by not buying soda at the grocery store and not buying so much meat and stick to more vegetables. At first they dont taste so good but try new spices to change the flavor of the vegetables
i'm tired of these dramatic background themed music to draw out emotions lol we don't get those in real life.. give me a real authentic video thank you, no edits
This guy dropping bombs man. He was so on point. I stopped smoking, so I told myself it was okay to basically eat what I wanted. I slacked up in other parts of my life. I need to turn that back around. It’s time.
It doesn’t take years, it took me a few months of determination, failures and relapses to go complete vegan after eating like a wild animal for over 25 years. I’ve been vegan for about 9 months now and I don’t regret a second of any of the sacrifices I had to make. I encourage everyone else in the world puts their best foot forward and make a positive change for am experience of a lifetime. Remember, it only took me a few months to go from wild boar to canary. Good luck my brothers and sisters ❤️
Keep healthy options around, hold yourself accountable, spend time in nature, ground yourself, meditate and drink clean alkaline spring water. Most of the time we’re “hungry” we’re actually just dehydrated.
Also, as in all things regarding human behavior, it takes honest and conscience commitment to resolve any problems you have. Whether it is study habits, exercise, or even quitting a toxic habit, you have to be willing to take that step toward commitment, and carry it beyond in order to resolve the issue at hand. May God continue to bless all of you, in all things, always.
I didn't know it was called progressive Extremism. But I gave drinking tea a year ago. I was quite addicted to drinking tea with lots of sugar. Six months after that I gave drinking soft drinks. It has helped me a lot I feel good and motivated all day long.
No. Decision is Key: Clarity and a sustainable plan. It ist actually much more effiective to make small changes on a consistent basis and in a steady direction than to deplete willpower in exhausting parforce sprints.
Willpower is useless if you don't change your self-image. We can lose weight by only willpower but soon you will gain it again. We can make a lot of money money with willpower, but with the poor self-image we will be poor again. Results with willpower aren't constant, they are always match to your self- image.
right now something im doing to help me overcome the bad habit of mindless eating is keeping a daily food log. every meal, every piece of food/drink is logged. Makes it so much easier to control and maintain a normal eating pattern.
it's important that when you give up what you perceive to be a "Bad" habit, it isn't replaced by another. Often the reason/excuse we might tell ourselves is well, at least it's not as bad as what I use to do ( but harm is harm) trading one habit for one you might deem lesser of two evils is still detrimental.right now I'm trying to shake off a Whole Laundry list of things, I don't feel Overwhelmed, but Challenged! You never really know what you can Accomplish until a valid attempt is made. It sounds simplistic, but sometimes we have to ignore that little voice in our head and go with the GUT. Repetition wears down Routine. Good Luck to everyone in their Attempt, for recognizing the problem/ issue is more than half the Solution! Peace.
I always watch TH-cam late night while studying which makes me wakeup late and also my study @ night inefficitive. After this piece of advice I made up my mind not watch any video beyond 11 pm so now I slot 10.30 to 11 pm exclusively for watching TH-cam contents. And go to sleep immediately. Hope this strategy breaks my bad habit.
Wow simple and powerful words "This is something that I just don't do" Bizzare.....how this like a breakthrough for me. Wish I thought about this instead of always fighting with myself against my shitty habits.
Damn.. you actually broke an ill mindset. It can be related to so many things that it can entirely change a human being all together. Thankyou so very much for this new perspective. I'm saving it in my library 💯👊
Wow. Amazing. Makes total sense. I know people who go on these diets and I have never seen one that makes permanent change because it is at an expert level. such good common sense! This is probably one of the best pieces of advice ever!
Thanks a lot for sharing this. Nir's book about cues and how to approach habits ( create or deconstruct them) was crucial for my development. The more we understand the power of habits, the more we can properly manage our lives. This is a never-ending learning curve.
Go Nir! Shine the light on MORAL LICENSING. I never heard of this term before. When we struggle and are ‘good’ in one part of our lives we feel justified to cheat in another part of our lives. Or maybe not cheat, but it’s like we think we have an excess in our moral bank account and get smug and self satisfied. Before a fall comes pride. I find this in myself for sure.
SNGaming: I totally agree with your observation.. addiction to finding the easy way.. get a grip and try something long enough to change course or read/ listen to another fad idea!
This is excellent advice. However, I also think it's valuable to look at the root causes of bad habits. A lot of the time, it's a sort of self-medication for feelings of loss we experience - seeking comfort and reassurance - that frequently goes back to childhood. They aren't called "comfort foods" for nothing! Certainly alcohol use is a type of self-medication for dealing with anxiety and low self-worth, and sugar can give us a brief high. That's why it can be so difficult to cut these pleasures out of our lives. I think we can gain a great deal if we find new and better ways of taking care of ourselves that don't include unhealthy substances and behaviors.

Progressive extremism sounds very similar to the concept of Keystone Habits that Charles Duhigg presents in the book The Power of Habit. I noticed this idea when I broke a bad habit I had for 33 years, and almost immediately saw better habits spread to other areas of my life, like health, family relations and business.
I’ve been doing this for a while now, and while the process is slow, it’s been going well. Not a perfect process, but it is making a difference nonetheless.
This is great. Is something that go into the specific... and that's what is needed. I suggest that everybody should begin to know itself quite well in order to find personal tricks to break bad habits and improve. Take this great help, but remember that nobody are able to know yourself as much as you are.
Am I the only one who momentarily wanted candy corn despite not having eaten it in forever ( Halloween 2007)? And I don't even like sweet things... Anyway, every single video I've ever seen (and every book I've read) about change always says the same thing: it has to be an internal shift i.e you need to first re-write your story of yourself (and change your perception of who you are). But, a much more important step - that few mention, is that you first need to understand the reason for a particular behaviour of yours **without trying to change that behaviour**. I failed so many times because I just directly jumped to trying to redefine myself as a person, without understanding why I was the way that I was. I hope this comment saves someone trying to change a behaviour some time (and frustration) . :) Good luck!
Priyanka Marka many of the bad habits come from the subconcious so you might never know why some bad habits get repeated all the time with you knowing that they are bad
I think what youre saying is before you begin to work on it you want to find the root of it, sometimes just doing that is enough. I think thats true for habits which is low effort, where as addiction is high effort so it takes more because a person can be emerced in suffering trying to resist
You don't need to understand. You just need to DECIDE you've had enough and are ready to let go. I help clients with this all the time BUT you can do it all by yourself. 🙏🙂
I use a step counter, but I use it for dancing, not working out. There's no question of no pain, no gain, because while my muscles get tired, they don't hurt. I put on music that I love, and then I dance until the end of the song that is at the end of the 30 minutes--which can extend the dance to anywhere from 31 to 35 minutes before the end of the song. Sometimes I'm having so much fun that I'll dance an extra song or even two. I do this two or three times a day, depending on whether I'm going to work. Exercise does not require any will power from me. Sometimes, I don't even want to quit. Since it's fun, if the last song is a jazz piece by Chick Corea, I don't care if it's a 20 minute piece that goes on for fifteen minute beyond my intended end time. I began doing this because I realized that I have a huge library of music that I never listened to, including rock, jazz, classical, world music, and more. Now, I play the entire library in random order, and it's always a pleasant surprise what the next song is.
Unconsciously, I have applied these principles to my diet for years. Eating, in general, has lost its anticipatory quality and "event" status that it used to carry for me. Sound advice, I can attest. I haven't drunk a soda in years.
Yeah I haven't drank soda in nearly 3 years. But what I did find was that it didn't shrink me or anything because I was still drinking fruit juices and sugary teas that sometimes had even more calories than soda. Now I drink half my body weight in oz (water) every day and sometimes more, and I do still enjoy juices/tea sometimes at a much lower scale (maybe twice a week) and with way less sugar & calories.
It's interesting I found this video. I have to say that this definitely works. 3/4 years ago I started this progress extremism, first with little things... after I quite tabaco and coffee then alcohol later cow meet then pork meet and then fish, becoming vegetarian. Recently stopped with casual sex and weed. Now I'm working in new changes... I have to tell you this is the best way I tried giving me willpower to change bad habits and behaviors one after one. Start with the small thing and don't regret because you're going to get far away.
I've been doing this without realising it! I'm pre-type 2 diabetes, a consequence of being a life-long chocoholic!! I now start every day sugar-free, and I'm expanding that window into lunchtime. It's really about forgiving yourself, right? It's accepting a challenge without seeing a mountain, just taking it one step at a time, one change at a time. ☺
According to most studies sugar is not what creates diabetes. Sugar is a problem IF you have diabetes. More responsible for getting diabetes is fat( the evil one) and meat. There are very many confusing informations outside. Either watch "what the health" or read science studies. Cut meat. Cut bad fat. PRE-diabetes can still get better to most degree.
Martin Rößner what Martin is saying is very true , as someone who is planning on starting a business in Nutrition i second that what Martin said its usually Meat that causes diabetes
Thank you. Unfortunately our whole industry is made to produce food which leads to diabetes, rheumatic disease, cardio problems and so on... Best diet would be mostly vegetarian with only occasionaly meat (biological), almost no sugar or diaries. No artificial "binders" and so on... in the clinic I worked some years ago outside patients sometimes were treat only with strict dietary changes for 3 month - no meat, no diary, no sugar - and quite often more than half of their symtoms improved. Try it out . Just once for 3 month very strict to these changes and then feel the difference . THEN decide how to go on.
This gives me clarity - If you dont do it you just simply do not do it. It is worthless to spent your will power resources to decide wheather to do it or not...
It's awesome it's right time I got the advice I am a procrastinator and lazy .... What else am everything negative ... But I will progress as he said ... Thank u
Wooow this was a real eye opener, I‘ll definitely keep that im my mind thank you!! This even gives me inspiration for my own positivity channel. We need more positive content on TH-cam, I‘m glad I found you! Keep it up💖💪🏼
Really interesting... the concept of “moral licensing.” Maybe this explains why my “tolerant” liberal friends have become so mean, shaming and bullying?
Kate Phillips your Liberal friends are just projecting what the right is doing...funny how you put tolerant in quotations as if you realize the falacies of the right. Very interesting.
TigerHawX 1987 haha, nope. People on both sides can be assholes, and I’m going to call it out wherever I see it. And nobody gets a free pass because “the other side is doing it too!”
TigerHawX 1987 not in my circle of friends, but perhaps my “conservative” friends are more centrist. They are definitely more polite than my more lefty friends, who are getting all riled up and calling people ugly names, whether they fit or not. I’m pretty sure none of my conservative friends (some who are Latino, black or married to people of color) are not “neo-Nazis.” And they don’t resort calling people they disagree with “libtards.” (But yeah, I see plenty of that crap and worse in YT comments, so I know it’s out there.) Really, everyone, just treat others with respect and we will all be better off! (Now If Trump can Just get the memo... he is not helping!)
IF everyone in the world watched this video a high percentage of people would STOP BAD Behaviors. Image the effects of the health benefits...Smoking, Sugar consumption, drug addiction and much more. Great video!
1. Choosing right mindset and strategy is the key for personal development 2. Too much cardio is unnecessary for most training people not needing a weight loss 3. Nutrition management is sometimes much more essential than training itself 4. Identity shift is mandatory for stacking habits
Great video!! We are what we do and Have ingrained into self image. I too have eliminated sugar very gradually and now “don’t do sugar.” I have adopted the newer ideas and image of “I drink only one glass of wine a week” as well. Really like and believe in this approach!
Rather than the "fastest way to break a habit" , it's more accurate to say "the most reliable way to break a habit" , good videos nonetheless, potentially life-changing
It's just a feeling, not a monster that's coming to get you... it's only a feeling. That feeling, or fear of it, causes your action. F the feeling. Do what you know works regardless.
I love this video! I'm definitely going to try that just getting rid of one thing at a time because I am a vegetarian so it was easy for me to just stop eating meat. But it's the sugars that gets me! But I'm going to start doing that as well. weaning off of that. Great video.

I was doing this both without realising. Gave up added sugar completely and just use a bit of honey. But at teh same time after buying green I would think, a bit of fast fashion isn't that bad. I know understand better why I managed to quit some things and other habits not. This was very useful
This is actually true.I become vegan 6 months ago after seeing what actually happens in meat, egg, milk industry how they treat animals and stuff, wich is the thing we dont see anywhere unless you go to the slaughterhouse and see it for yourself because you are not allowed to use camera there. And after seeing what happens there wich is totally unnatural savage thing, something in me shifted so baddly that i said i won't eat meat, eggs, milk anymore. And that instant ,the very moment i saw what happend there,i really saw me changing on that day from a man that identifies with eating everything ,to man who do not eat animal products.I just felt it with every cell of my being that i am not a man who eats animals,I just DONT do that. And from then on i had ZERO cravings for those things, i think there was no day that i ever tought that i sacrificed something(because really i see that there is nothing to sacrifice),and because of that i have no ressistance towards eating it because i dont think about it(I am not forcing me not to think about that,i just dont think ).What he says about self image is correct ,when you do not identifie yourself with something you wont have to use will power not to do that, its that simple.
Next time you other guys eat meat and eggs be 100% conscious with regards to taste, texture, etc. Let me know if it still tastes good or you’re just conditioned to like it for so long. (Same thing with smoking cigarettes.)
Andrej Capin Have you ever thought that maybe the problem isn’t with eating meat itself, but the problem is the way the animals are being treated? Some animals have been created for human consumption, just like how some animals are created for other animals consumption. Instead of not eating meat, which doesn’t solve anything, how about working on the real problem and preventing torturing animals.
Incremental steps. Most people try and get all the gear and have no idea. It is about accepting it and being strict at each stage. Meditation helps with this massively!
Hope this one will help you to make a change in your life.
Thanks

Bad habits have been falling off hard as I have been doing this.
i like that. especially the "can't vs don't". That makes me feel more empowered over a decision.
I have eliminated 10 bad habits in the last year or 2. I started by recognizing the bad habits, documenting them (how much, how often ect) and sloooooowly scaling them back until, as he said, they were no longer something I do. Nice to see a video like this and be able to say with no B.S. this works!
Xgcgcyf
Have any of those bad habits came back since?
I have been following Nir for a while now. And he changed my life more than anyone else.
WOE-oeh! That's inspirational, thank you!
Breaking bad habits is key to leading the healthy, fulfilling life of your dreams. Thanks!
I did this 17 years ago on New Years with pizza, my favorite food which I was absolutely addicted to and knew every good pizza shop within miles around(mushroom was my favorite) and went to certain ones often. It was destroying me. I finally set a day and did it. If you have time please comment. Thanks.
Keep up the good work!
Great Man
WOE-oeh!
Giving away at once is the technique which highly educated saints like Swami Mukundananda also suggest and others as well
People are doing Exercise that they hate which means it's not going to be sustainable.
Great video
Thank you for that. From now on I am going to get better and closer to the best version of myself !!!

I agree, but how to do it?
@@niro56 Get clear on what you want vs what you don't want. Then take even the smallest step or action that feels good to you towards the goal. Do this over and over and moral licensing won't happen.

thats awesome! :D Glad you made that change!
how are you now?
Absolutely love this. So true. What is the first thing we want to do when we tell ourselves we can't have x??? We crave X and then binge it. But if we say we no longer will have it, that means we have made that decision because it is the one that has reasoning to outweigh having X.
As someone whose goal is to lose 40lbs and constantly “failing” at diets this was a real eye-opener. Maybe my approach has just been all wrong. Lovely video and I will be trying this technique!!
How did everything go?

About 8 months I stopped using refined sugar adjusted my eating habits and started training after a very long lay off. What this guy is talking about makes a lot sense.
This takes a lot of weight off my shoulders. Really, it is so inspiring to know that there is amateur level mentality and expert level mentality. You do not need to be an expert at everything. Take your time to become an expert at things that are important to you. Keyw part is take your time. Thank you so much for this video.
It's all about mindset, if you want something bad enough you'll find a way, if don't then you find a excuse, so easy..
Exactly. I've been practicing this for years. Slowly eliminating things from my diet and adding new things. Start by not buying soda at the grocery store and not buying so much meat and stick to more vegetables. At first they dont taste so good but try new spices to change the flavor of the vegetables
Genius. Passion drives everything creative. Lifestyle changes are where it’s at.. change my thinking, change my life. I fully get this.

So true
When i quit smoking it was by deciding "I am a nonsmoker"
Good advice. People don't set their goals low enough... and fail.
Willpower is everything to accomplishing anything! 💪
You realize, right, that will power is not his message. His message is about progresssive extremism. That's not the same thing.
@@MsBettyRubble Okay genius, do you realize that you can't achieve progressive extremism without willpower?
No. Decision is Key: Clarity and a sustainable plan. It ist actually much more effiective to make small changes on a consistent basis and in a steady direction than to deplete willpower in exhausting parforce sprints.
@@KaoXoni WOW? Another genius. Did you know that a decision is made at one's will?
Willpower is useless if you don't change your self-image. We can lose weight by only willpower but soon you will gain it again. We can make a lot of money money with willpower, but with the poor self-image we will be poor again. Results with willpower aren't constant, they are always match to your self- image.

it's important that when you give up what you perceive to be a "Bad" habit, it isn't replaced by another. Peace.
This has changed my life completely.. Thanks
Wow, this is really eye opening. I didn't realize I was engaging in a negative, self defeating behavior. Thank you!
this actually works! It's so simple, but in order for it to work you have to stay consistent and comitted
Damn.. you actually broke an ill mindset.
The more we try to analyse something and get into that details she really try to understand it, the further we stray from truly changing ourselves.
In my entire life, rarely have I witnessed such a genius dude.... I wish I could have him as a lifecoach...
I stopped eating refined sugar in 2015 & i dont miss it or do i think about it 👌🏾
I feel the SAME way.. i barely crave anything sweet anymore! its life changing :D
This guy KNOWS what he's talking about. Thank you for posting.
Good luck!
Priyanka Marka many of the bad habits come from the subconcious so you might never know why some bad habits get repeated all the time with you knowing that they are bad
@@OrestMEdits that sounds like a cop out... Like you're limiting what you can be aware of...
I think what youre saying is before you begin to work on it you want to find the root of it, sometimes just doing that is enough. I think thats true for habits which is low effort, where as addiction is high effort so it takes more because a person can be emerced in suffering trying to resist
Yes. Bitches are weak
Just started this year not drinking soda, I'm down 30lbs, also realized out of all food, soda is the worst thing to intake, my opinion.
@@AngelHxze yeah I drink juice here n there, but mostly water, I dont drink coffee

@@DiamondWhite91 as long as animals are used in the business, you cannot avoid torture. So the best way is to not use animal products and services
