The watching something and playing is so relatable omg. Playing cozy games feels so much more boring without something to watch in the back. The eating part was so real too😭
For me, dark souls 1 was a really cozy game. The environments in particular were what made it cozy, with phases of quiet exploration delineated by short bursts of intense combat before going back to quietness. Of course it all hinges on your ability to manage multiple enemies one at a time, drawing aggro strategically, otherwise it does get a bit messy. But that trip between firelink shrine and undead burg bonfires...cozier than my bed on a cold morning.
My cozy games are the fromsoft games. That would sound bizarre to anyone who has never played them. But I know them so well that I can just turn off my brain and play them.
Tbh I always felt like Deep Rock Galactic was a cozy game and I could never put my finger on why... but it's so nice to just curl up in a blanket with a hot chocolate and some cookies and mine on Hoxxes for a few hours :)
Rimworld is my cozy game of choice. 2000 hours and counting. Before I had a way to play it, I watched HOURS of gameplay. I’m thinking of getting a Thrumbo tattoo. I love this game.
Wow i never thought before that ive became so familiar with league of legends that it became a cozy game. Watching series while playing it or being able to do other things while also enjoying some aram games
My cozy game this year has been Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. They get the blood pumping, but there's something soothing about the breakneck speed and muscles memory of the controls. I play it, and my fingers just know exactly what to do. Like riding a bike
My cozy games are the FromSoft games. There's a pacing and rhythm I would almost describe as musical and the consistency of the mechanics means I can fire up a podcast or TH-cam video. Literally beat Elden Beast while this was on in the background.
2 of my most relaxing games are Slay the Spire and Into the Breach. I regularly play them before bed. I have played Into the Breach so much that it has just become second nature to me. I've had several friends I've recommended it to talk about how hard it is at the start and I remember struggling with it, but now its my bedtime relaxing game, so much so that for a while my gf got so used to falling asleep to it that she started playing the soundtrack to fall asleep to when I was taking a break from it. I also see people recommending any game with a cute aesthetic regardless of gameplay. like if they say it has to be calm non stressful gameplay and then they are recommending a game that is essentially super meat boy with cute animal people, what is "cozy" about it? its too undefined to call it a genre. Its just a feeling. Oh and Snowrunner. I feel like people focus so much on the cute "cozy" aesthetic and ignore games with actual chill calm gameplay. People talk about how its mostly girl gamers and guys will say games without a lose state aren't real games. Snowrunner gets passed over because its a game about trucks so its a "guy game". guys like stardew valley too. Girls can like a game about trucks too. Like what is more cozy than driving at 2mph because you're dragging through the mud and you actually have time to take in the beautiful autumn and winter aesthetics, and there is little to know penalty, you just reset your truck if you get stuck, or take another one out and help flip it over or siphon off fuel. You're just vibing through the countryside listening to some generic wordless country tunes.
Monster Hunter is my cosy game. I can always pick up any title and be like yeah I'm gonna make that weapon or armour and when I do that I'll use it to grind out something else. Perfect gameplay loop.
For me, my cozy games are games that I can just pick an activity in then put it down. First thing that comes to mind is Terraria, where I can just spend half an hour working on something that I've been doing for the past week. Elden Ring is also a cozy game for me, because of how big the game is I can just pick some cave to explore or do a few colosseum rounds and feel satisfied.
My current cozy game is witcher 3. Running around the woods, hunting, fighting monsters and exploring new areas is super fun. I've barely made any progress with the plot because of how fun I find running around and seeing what happens.
My cozy game is just Firefight in Halo Infinite. It’s so mindless compared to PvP matches, and feels nostalgic when I get to play on some of the maps from the older games. Plus being able to play with random people and using the text adds a fun level of comfort. Since most people are super casual and friendly, it adds to the calming headspace
My cozy game is either Resident Evil 4 classic, and especially Dark Souls 1. I’ll put in Death’s Door as well. Just these three games have a very special place in my heart. Dark Souls in particular is a game I play while listening to horror stories by Dark Somnium or sea bass
Sekiro was my cozy game I played that game into ng+++++++++ and afterwards all the boss gauntlets and 100% the whole thing. After that I started speedrunning it seeing how fast I could finish it.
Sonic Adventure is one of mine. Something about that game is timeless in its atmosphere and presentation, its charmingly janky with its cutscenes and they put in a lot of extra detail into things they didnt need to do.
Love the video man! My cosy games are the ones that keep you up at night. That feeling when you should go to bed but " if i do this now tomorrows game sesh will be better".I find like you said griding games.,If its loot for souls,Monsterhunter, diablo or is it get them collectables. it's extra hours I know I shouldn't but I do play so I can be better for it.
I think my biggest cozy games are those with super fluid movement. Titanfall 2, Mirrors Edge Catalyst and Celeste are some of my go to games for just zoning out and enjoying seeing how long I can keep running without stopping
Honestly my cozy game is Risk of Rain 2. Feels weird saying that but I can just zone out and play the game for hours on end. It's the only game I've played in the last 3 years that I have actually been able to do that. Also love the vid!
Came to comment about deadbolt. I feel the same with ror (both) but deadbolt has its own niche to it. Check the soundtrack at least if you don’t jive with the gameplay.
@@jukeboxintheflesh I’m definitely an enjoyer of Deadbolt, to me it’s not cozy because of the whole trial and error process of the missions but it’s honestly a ton of fun. Thank you for sharing!
for me "cozy games" is a game where I can be "head empty, no thoughts" and mostly it's grinding in JRPG games. I remember enjoying grinding in DDS duology and Nocturne, head totally empty just do random encounter after random encounter. I could never be cozy in farming games bcs I will inevitably lean into how can I play this game in the most optimized state. Kirby game is also cozy, as long as I don't gripe over the stage tasks.
Ironically, "cozy" for me means playing hard games, or playing grindy games. Nothing relaxes me more than a quick run of Slay the Spire or Mega Man, or maybe just grinding like hell in Disgaea. Mega Man Battle Network kind of has both things, and since the Legacy Collection came out, it's been great to just come home in the evening, lay on the bed and just play the games yet again. Perfection. On the other hand, I found games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons to just be extremely stressful. Played it for something like 400 hours, but it was becoming much more of a chore, and it got me too obsessed about making the perfect island. I genuinely prefered the older titles, where it was less about making everything perfect, and more about just chilling and talking to funny animals. Last point, but I think that being on a portable console makes a game automatically 150% extra cozy. Being able to play games on the bed, or while you're on the bus, or everywhere else, is just the best feeling in the world, at least for me.
Haven't watched the video yet, but I'm just gonna say here that Alien Isolation was a cozy and chill game for me because once I got good at it and understood the AI behind the xenomorph playing it felt relaxing and satisfying and overall comfy
Nobody spoke of games from this genre as cozy, so let me drop 1. Games like Nier Automata or DMC4 is real cozy once you get the combos memorized, just walk in and start looking for punching bags while think what to eat for dinner
my cozy game is persona 4. being forced to live in a small town in japan with seemingly nothing to do was what made it so comfortable and memorable to me. i made so many close connections with the in-game characters that it made the small and boring town make it a place that felt like home.
This is why I find the distinction or the "tag" relatively useless. Most of the games I am most interested in seem to fall under the category. For context, I like Social Sims and nonviolent games. But when I play these games I am not looking for or get something that makes me feel "cozy." The closest to cozy I feel in games at this point is Coffee Talk.
My cozy game has gotta be detroit become human, after grinding on warframe for hours and not getting the thing I need, I just need a really emotional story to chill to, and detroit works so well because it's an emotional story that I can also impact, and I'm yet to have experienced it all
Hollow knight has become a cozy game for me (minecraft is also kinda one) I'm experienced enough to play hollow knight while watching youtube. I can beat early bosses with half a brain because I've tried and failed so many steel soul runs. I actually started a steel soul run while watching this very video. (not gonna lose this time, I'll be careful and prep all I can this time) The game is beautiful and has nice music and satisfying combat. I return to hollow knight after already completing three files (aside from pantheons 3-5 and NKG) just because it feelse replayable and makes me feel good.
Didnt think I could have so much in common with some random guy, but Ive been proven wrong. Anyways I think Celeste and Wynncraft are some of my favourite cozy games. Gonna do P3R when I get the chance, so we'll see how that goes.
Think what was my coziest game was the og re4 got so familiar with it had like a 100% set run through new game professional wasn't a speedrunner or nothing but think I have over 100 playthroughs of it overall between all the ports (excluding the vr version of it add like another 7 to the count for that one) not to mention however many times I played assignment Ada
for me StarCraft II coop and custom content (including campaign mods) as well as Souls games & Terraria are cosy games. they provide a great level of stimuli while being enjoyable in a largely automatic way for me. Dead Cells and Risk of Rain 2 are rarely used for that. "cosy/comfy" games usually don't provide enough stimuli for me, so I don't get the cosy feeling they're meant to give also thank you for this video! I feel that this subject is often ignored or not thought about much. many people speak about certain games as if they're objectively un-cosy, or objectively cosy. but I think any game can be cosy for someone, and which games end up being that seems likely to me to be affected by our personal thresholds for stimuli. slightly unrelated - I have a feeling Echo Point Nova might become a cosy/comfort game for me once that game comes out. the demo is fantastic if you like fast-paced movement shooters
Not my top one but Resident Evil 6 is a cozy game to me. Just load up Mercenaries and vibe. Made it a time killer for a while to try and get a SSS on every level with every character.
I think my "cozy game" would be Dishonored, which is kinda odd to say But I feel like this cause I know every little secrets of this game and how to complete each mission, but I always can just restart a save and decide to play how I want, killing everyone or sparing everyone, being sneaky or being a complete menace, which makes it so fun lmao
i've always found the stereotypical "cozy" games stressful as shit! stardew and animal crossing make me want to rip my hair out. Dwarf Fortress and old gen monster hunter are so much cozier for me
Nothing is cozier than a nice half hour or so in Ultrakill :)
Lmao I was literaly thinking of cybergrind
I was also feeling of Ultrakill xD
Nothing like some p ranks while in my best days
i was about to comment this
My fav cozy aspect of ultrakill is p-2 and cerberus exe
Nothing quite like a quick saunter through Lordran for a relaxing night for me
Nothing quite as soothing as a quick stroll through the blood soaked streets of Yharnam!
Lordran is sooo cozy!
My cozy game is Dark Souls. I've played that game so much and can just breeze trough it. Justa Nice comfortable feeling
for me its especially dark souls 1
The watching something and playing is so relatable omg. Playing cozy games feels so much more boring without something to watch in the back. The eating part was so real too😭

My cozy games are the fromsoft games. That would sound bizarre to anyone who has never played them. But I know them so well that I can just turn off my brain and play them.
I'm here for it
I enjoyed grinding for levels in Disgaea, even with the original game in the mid 2000's while having another TV with cable shows.
Tbh I always felt like Deep Rock Galactic was a cozy game and I could never put my finger on why... but it's so nice to just curl up in a blanket with a hot chocolate and some cookies and mine on Hoxxes for a few hours :)
I beat Genichiro Ashina in Sekiro for fun. I've done it so many times that I can just relax and kick his shit. Sekiro is my cozy game
Rimworld is my cozy game of choice. 2000 hours and counting. Before I had a way to play it, I watched HOURS of gameplay. I’m thinking of getting a Thrumbo tattoo. I love this game.

for the longest time Just Cause 3 was my cozy game
no, i am not a psychopath
Warthunder was my cozy game for awhile😭

Ori and the Blind Forest is very cozy for me.
Thank you my “cozy” comfort games do consist of animal crossing and some older pokemon games but also resident evil 4 and breath of the wild
Another banger by Tafeee lets go

persona 3 reload has been so cozy for me so far, persona always has been a comfort series for me lol
Persona for me lol! It really isn’t too intense and lets me relax for a but
6:25 True, the only cozy game I have right now is getting over it
Doom 2016 is a cozy game for me
nothing like going back to the borderlands and fighting against handsome jack

Mine is counter strike, its just so familiar since ive played it for years. Feels like home
The Binding of Isaac is unironically my cozy game so I get it.
Haven't watched the video yet, but I'm just gonna say here that Alien Isolation was a cozy and chill game for me because once I got good at it and understood the AI behind the xenomorph playing it felt relaxing and satisfying and overall comfy
3:53 fake, Linus has a whole cutscene where he says he lives that way because he wants to, he is a freak, just like us
Nobody spoke of games from this genre as cozy, so let me drop 1. Games like Nier Automata or DMC4 is real cozy once you get the combos memorized, just walk in and start looking for punching bags while think what to eat for dinner

1:21 me chilling fighting meliania sitting under a cozy blanket and some coffee. *dies* “yep I’m gonna kill myself” keeps playing*
Dark Souls 1 is real cozy for me
5:24 - 6:21
I feel so called out rn LOL

My definition, too, is games that allow me to turn off my brain.
Palworld has been “that” game for me.
U actually rly smart and funny,, i subscribe🎉
Playing plants vs zombies garden warfare or battle for neighborville has to be the most cozy game to me. Even though they are fps games 😂
Meaning this guy is completely correct. Any game can be a cozy game
My cosy game is The Binding Of Isaac Repentance
I think my "cozy game" would be Dishonored, which is kinda odd to say

Persona 5 Royal is for sure my main cozy game. But some other big ones are skate 2, skate 3, and recently stardew valley.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who rotted for a month because of Persona 5 Royal 💀

no, not everything can be cozy. if you think something sociopathical is cozy, you are wrong and a sociopath.
Nothing like spewing racial slurs on league , the coziest feeling in any game.
