I have this bike. I got it less than 2 weeks ago and has already put in some accessories; different seat, an electronic horn, and a phone holder. I researched this category of bike for over 2 months before setting on a Roam 2.
Ive just ordered this bike from my local bike dealer, here in Ireland. Tbh, when I first took the bike for a quick test ride, I wasnt feeling the love. However, your review has put me in a more positive frame of mind, re the Giant hybrib. So thanks. Great review. I like what Im hearing. 🙏😊👍🏻
I had the same feeling with it (not exactly it, roam2 2020). This bike doesnt have a special character, it doesnt accelerate that well and cycling it is not that smooth. But the love will grow on u, once u use it for around 1000km. Its a great bicycle for everyday use and not using it for having fun and risk and etc. if i go back i would pick the same bike again
Got the exact same bike a couple of days back. Everything is the same except for the drive train. Over here it is a 2 by 11 gear ratio. Weight is still around 13kgs too. It is a great all rounder bike.
Just picked up this exact bike last week, and your review was bang on. I have upgraded the handlebar to a 740 as I found the stock 680 a little to narrow for my liking. Overall great bike thanks for the review.
Put a carbon handlebar , carbon d fuse seatpost & a decent hunt mason x 700 wheel set w/ sum tubeless maxxis re fuse tires ( gum wall ) & that bike is 🌶 🥵, 27 lbs possibly , that’s a very good looking bike also 1x10 Deore gs under 1 k , ooooooooooof , yes this is a great review, gracias 🙏
Hey found your channel in the search of this exact model. May I add a suggestion? Nobody is comparing the roam to any other bike. What's is its competition? Or same difference but different brand? Also could you add that info to all your reviews? That way we could compare brands in person and see if said brand and model is a good fit compared to X. -- thanks for what you do sir! Your a great resource!
Well done and informative. Did this bike come with the Ring cover/chain guard (5:24) or added yourself? I was looking at this in the store and it didn't have it and it's the only thing keeping me from getting this bike. Thank you.
Thank you for the video, can u compare this bike with merida crossway series? I have roam2 2020, and its like as what just u said " a hybrid SUV" im looking to find a bicycle more like giant escape 1 but with thicker wheels for gravel.
I dig my Roam. It's good for any surface. Easy to climb. Easy to cruise. Very comfortable. Yeah, I know everyone hates the fork. I'd rather have an aluminum/steel fork and put some fat 2" tires on it. Just my opinion
Buetiful bike. I hav one spoken for at my local dealer...I'm 6'3 and weigh around 280lbs am I to heavy for this bike please and thank you ??? Love ur show !
Good morning. I bought a LIV bike, same company as Giant, and didnt realize nor was told when I ordered the bike at the bike shop that it was desigened for women. I didnt know until I got on the LIV website and noticed, theres an awful lot of women on this page lol. I am 46 and weigh 291. I bought the LIV Rove 2d. I rode it the first time this past week for 5.4 miles. I am looking at either trading or just ordering a new bike which will be a Giant. This Giant Roam looks just like the Rove except the center bar which angles down a bit. Questions, What bike would you recommend for someone a overweight? The tires on the Rove were at 44 psi and I put it upto 55 PSI but still kind of is squishy.
I think the other manufacturers need to follow Kona’s lead (and also specialized, cause they also got the right idea) and just ditch the dual sport category. Those front forks are pointless (almost every single DS bike comes with the same Suntour NEX fork, which has seen no improvements whatsoever and are literally pogo sticks) and add weight to what could be a great bike. It’s time to retire this concept, or reinvent it. Great review though, James! It’s great to see you focus on bikes for every skill and riding style
This video eliminates the most important part of riding - the rider. What do the shifter and brake handles look like up-close, with and without a hand grasping them? How do the grips feel? Let's see a close-up of the pedals including their surface. How does the seat feel compared to other bikes you've ridden? You've displayed the Roam 2 as a showroom object's catalog shoot, eliminating the human factor. Viewers need a taste and a feel of riding this beast. If you want to improve your vids, use a helmet cam to look down on hands engaged in shifting and braking while on a short ride, maybe on both asphalt and gravel. How responsive are the brakes and gear changes. Edit in stable close-ups of key components and stop waving your hands around.
@@MONDAYMONDAY22 the gear ratio is good enough to do some steep trails. Although if ur gonna do steep climbs the end in a fast downhill i learned the hard way to get a new set of tires. The cross cuts are great for roads and lifht gravel but anything soft or rocky had no bite. I busted myself up pretty good doing a bikepacking trip on this bike stock. (Except of course the rear rack and bags for camping)

Do you like it ? Not to heavy ? He go fast ?
Cool I got an XL and am hoping it performs well 🙏 🙂

I just bought this bike and feel the same about the handle bar. Could you tell me the exact model of the 740 you upgraded to?
@@sandebnerfamily-bf9yv I installed Race Face Chester very nice bars you will like them

How is Roam compare to Marlin?

Apparently I can only found 2 models that are currently Roam's competitors so far, the Trek Dual Sport and Marin San Rafael
Thank You for the detailed Review. I am confused about whether to buy the Giant Escape 1 or Roam 2. Could you please compare them?

I have one , it’s awesome but should pay the additional cash for the top spec
So, between roam 3 and 2 which one do u choose?

Good thoughts
I put on 700x 50 maxxi raddlers and they’re DOPE!
Wtb slicks 29 x 2.2 and swapped the fork out with a salsa steel fork. Perfect

can you tell me what kind of seat you added to this bike.
it's not available in india
indian variant 2 x 9 drivetrain
Price ?
Seems nice. Good entry level pricing. Not sure about front suspension? Pretty much a gravel bike right? Thanks for sharing this with us.
Nope! That Gravel bike youre talking about is just a Mountain Bike with a Drop Bar! LMAO
I consider it a heavy-duty hybrid bike. Gravel riding would be NO problem with the Roam
man, that is a huge upgrade in terms of groupset compare to the 2022 model year of this exact roam 2
How much is this bike?
Hello. This Roam original background that store, did you assemble? From which market in the world?
I did not assemble this bike.
I assembled his bike

Ive got this bike. Ive been thinking the same thing.
How can I install a front rack onto it? There are no eyelets on the fork. 😮
There are some mini racks that can attach to the fork. I wish it had more eyelets too 😢
Wow $900? I got this for $600 in 2021.

Is this roam 2 easy to cycle up hills/road etc etc

Those forks literally do nothing but add weight. Bike makes no sense
The SUV of bicycles... but with terrible gearing. Not quite as versatile as the video says.
Would 1 x 10 gears be better..deciding on roam 1 or 2
My bike with the one chain ring and the XT rear derailer changes perfectly everytime with one finger
@@rustymike2000 Roam 1 imo. Has a higher high gear and a lower low gear than Roam 2. This means you'll climb steeper hills and go faster on descents.
Get your pudgy hand out of the frame.
