    What strikes me is how these guys want to talk, to communicate. (And in two languages- their English was really good). If only we could all communicate with each other, maybe people wouldn’t get so overwhelmed with their feelings that they need to turn to drugs and alcohol to numb their pain.
    It’s so sad to see their hopelessness, they must feel awful.

    Eye opener here. I was in Germany, France Switzerland in the 80's. Was struck how clean all these countries were. They seemed to have a lot of pride there. Pride and shame is BIG there. This guy is in mourning and depressed. I will pray for him that his grief subsides enough to get back on track. His girlfriend wouldn't want him to be sad like this.

    • @alexanderlindner5808
      @alexanderlindner5808 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      They are still clean. Especially Switzerland, and southern Germany. And you have to understand none of these people need to be homeless. The government offers anyone housing and living cost expenses. Those guys are on the street because they want to, or don't have the strength or the will to go through the process. Greets from Germany.

    • @ashdav9980
      @ashdav9980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@alexanderlindner5808 Well, it's the same thing in the US...many homeless people don't want to go to the shelters because they can't do drugs and have certain rules to follow that they refuse to do. There is a lot of help for poor in the US, much to the media's portrayal of the opposite. For example, the housing authority builds homes and gives them at low cost to single moms, etc. with all kinds of programs to help them pay their light bills, home repairs, etc. About two years ago I purchased one of these homes from such a lady who was selling it. The house was about 20 years old, she purchased it with low price and no money down through the housing authority....and literally drove it into the ground for the 20 years she owned it, didn't lift ONE finger to maintain it. She walked away from the house with about 100k in cash. It hadn't had power for a long time, was in such disrepair that is was not habitable so no bank would finance it for a new buyer....it had to be a cash buy by an investor. So, my hubby and I purchased it, fixed it up, and now rent it out for a reasonable rate compared to the market. Yet, WE are viewed as the leeches and evil of society as people love to hate anyone anyone with a dollar more than them. Homelessness is a complex problem and mental health and addiction issues are at the root of much of it. We learned the lady we purchased the house from, had a daughter that passed away from drug addiction about a year after we remodeled the house (neighbor told us), so the cycle continues generation to generation.

      There are a record 5 million more job openings than unemployed people in the U.S. The unemployment rate is 3.5%. The homeless in the US have been given one chance after another to come off the streets, they REFUSE! They are there because they are free to remain homeless. It's a problem of law enforcement, not a result of "cruel capitalism". So many of them are of course mentally ill.

    • @65sheilakay
      @65sheilakay ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ashdav9980 You're right about that. In the city I live in here in Tennessee, we have several shelters with good programs. They give you everything to get back on your feet. Will feed,clothe and house you. Just have to follow their rules and exercise discipline. Still have people begging in the street for money to get high on. Still have people living in tents in wooded areas so they can get high. We don't have too many, my town would never allow a tent in public.

It's SO sad to hear him say that life is hopeless and that they might as well keep doing their drugs and live this way in shame and misery because they've resigned themselves to going to hell when they die. I pray that the Lord reveals Himself to them and shows them that Jesus always draws close to the broken-hearted and downtrodden, if they would just seek Him, ask Him for forgiveness of their sins, believe that He is Lord and Savior, instead of rejecting Him. Their lives would be transformed, as it has been for countless people including me. Thanks for your videos, I can't get enough of your trip to Germany. In Germany the state pays you rent for an apartment and around 400 Euro Social Money every month for food. But if you sleept over all requests and applications because maybe have problems with Alkohol or drugs its your Problem and you loose your rightly aspire to get that back. So almost everyone that is homeless in germany does this because he/she whats it. Or because they didnt fill out the applications in time. Or they abuse Drugs and alkohol. Sad but true. In England we have "Hostels" for homeless people similar to homeless shelters but they are often not nice places frightening for some people and they have to pay money to go to them at night to sleep. So if they don't have the money they can't even stay in a "Hostel" for the homeless at night. There is very limited proper social housing here that people can afford. We have "Housing Associations" different to the traditional council housing (local authority housing). In America I think they call social housing "Section 8" housing but it is not good housing here in England not anymore. Some of these properties are very badly maintained and very badly managed and are in a terrible state unfit and unsafe for humans to live in. Some whole families are living in small hotel rooms because that is all their local council can offer them. Some are in B&Bs which is "bed and breakfast" places. Some are in office blocks retail places business parks out of town which were never meant for living in and there is no proper community living in a business park. It is a terrible situation here. London the capital city has many homeless people. London is a very expensive place to live and to buy property privately in London is very expensive not affordable to most people. Strange but some people in England would rather be in one of the British prisons because they get 3 meals a day and a roof over their heads and a bed. A lot of our prisons are Victorian and are overcrowded. England is a cold country so sad people would rather be in prison and that is their best option. People need more help and support to get appropriate housing and to stop living on the street in a cold country is very bad for health to live outside on the street and homeless people die on the streets of Britain. The gentleman in the video can speak English and he is German. In England most people can't speak German. To get work you need an address even to access welfare benefits (social security) although people can use the job centre as an address. For instance the German gentleman could work as a translator or teach people German who are English. He probably has many talents! There is very little help for people with addictions here too. We have illegal drugs here so people might be frightened to ask for help because some drugs are illegal here. I also wonder about their childhoods what happened to them as a child. Michael Jackson wanted everyone to have a good happy childhood. I also feel that many people don't understand about mental health and there is a huge stigma with mental illness even though the media constantly talk about it here with celebrities but there is very little help for ordinary people with not much money who are not rich with lots of resources. To go private is very expensive. It is down to local authorities local councils to house people here and they sometimes send them to different Boroughs for instance a London Borough might send someone miles away up North to Newcastle where they have no links or family or friends it can be terrible. People can also be on housing lists for years and not get proper social housing. There are women's "refuge" places like women's shelters for abused women domestic violence. Domestic violence is a problem here in England. There are many abused and neglected children and abused women in England. Divorce and relationships breaking down can be a reason why some people end up homeless. There are also runaway teenagers who run away from abusive homes and end up on the steeets. We have a care system here where children are looked after by the local authorities if they don't have a family who can care for them but it can be a terrible system and children are even abused within that system. Being in care is different to being fostered or adopted. There are some "soup kitchens" places where homeless can get free meals things like that. Things in Britain are in a terrible state with many people going to food banks to feed their families and they work have jobs. Some homeless people here actually have jobs and there are "Big Issue" sellers which is a magazine. It feels like things are at breaking point here with all the social services stretched to their limits like the NHS (National Health Service), the police, the fire service, the state schools the teachers are so stretched, the social workers part of "social services", mental health services and so on. Most things here are no longer state owned and have been sold off to private companies like for instance water and gas and the post office. In the 1980s Margaret Thatcher allowed people to buy their council houses and flats in the right to buy scheme. This ended up depleting social housing even more because they didn't invest in building new social housing. We have have a network of expensive elite private schools and boarding schools so children in the state schools often don't get a good education but the children in the private schools get a good education. People can rent privately in the UK but if you are on welfare benefits (social security) this can be very difficult. The UK is like a lottery what services can be offered to you because each place has different services so good some bad it is a total postcode/zip code lottery.
