It was absolutely jawdropping to see these last night over Bavaria, Germany. The entire sky was covered in hues of red, purple and green, even looking south.
I watched them light up Ft Greely, Alaska in late August, 1974. I worked at the base's small TV station, so I climbed the TV tower to watch over 45 minutes of changing colors that lit the sky enough to see for miles. It was still happening, but it was too cold and windy to stay up there, any longer.
Thanks for the post! The sun was still up here (Vancouver Island, Canada) when I saw your video and it served as a good reminder to go out after dark. It was incredible!
😍 beautiful!! I have taken some pictures as well. I'm from Belgium. Would you want to make a video how you made this video? Or about to make good photos? Thanks! I am always happy when you have a new video!
You're welcome! I'm looking forward to seeing other people post their footage too, once they get some time. Sad that there was a lot of cloudy skies over parts of the US :(
Very cool, I saw them in Iceland on a jolly many years ago. Bucket list stuff like a Solar Eclipse that I have yet to tick off but planning for in 2028 when it hits Australia.
Good luck with that! I'm so happy the clouds cleared out today, a few friends outside of MO had cloud cover during the peak activity. Not sure if there will be more in the midwest tonight.
Thank goodness we have an iron core!
Amazingly, the Northern Lights were visible as far as the Galapagos Islands, which straddle the equator! Truly amazing!

Being in the city, and near the southern end of the visible aurora, the colors were a bit muted here, but it was still jaw-dropping!
Magneto has declared war on humankind! Run! Lol.
It's so pretty!

Awesome! Glad you could see it, and there's a good chance many of us will see it again tonight!
I've never wanted the sun to set more than today.
Oof! On the west coast? I hope it holds out for a while so you can see it. It's stunning, never thought I'd see it short of going north to Canada.
How did I manage to be out of state for this. Would’ve loved to see this in STL
I got some great stuff in Maine. Lasted 45 minutes before the clouds came in.
Wow! We only had about 5 minutes where it was like this in the video, then it was a lot less pronounced, and mostly only visible on the camera.
Loving these daily uploads
I live 30 miles North of St Louis and didn't even notice, totally forgot they mentioned this on the news this morning lol.
Heh, now you get to live vicariously through social media!
I'm still keeping a timelapse going in case there's any more.
watching this too today, 60 degrees to north, urals
it was also visible from here

Will do!
Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your city?!
Hehe, now they'll have to be known as the "northern and kinda middle-ish lights" if it keeps up another night!
I didn't get to see it due to a cloudy sky so thanks for making the video :-)

@@Level2Jeff Not just the US that had cloudy skies, also here in Canada :(
I got a few, good, shots up here in Mid Michigan
That's so cool Jeff!
I'm getting some color in Ohio, but it seems to come and go. I'm going out again in a bit.
Yeah, I keep checking-every once in a while a tiny tinge of red now, but not much else. Fingers crossed we get a tiny bit more before I fall asleep!
Going to try and catch this myself tonight when the sun sets localy
Good luck!!
@@Level2Jeff I was able to see it here in Oregon! It was like watching "spirits dance across the sky" Thanks for the great videos!

@@Level2Jeff Good point about the weather, will leave my planning to the last minute I think. Not that this is unusual for me.
Cool! I wonder if it reaches 34°N? Columbia, SC
I've heard a few reports in Alabama and Georgia, so not sure about SC... maybe!
Is everyone ready for the next Carrington event?
Isn't this how 'The Day of the Triffids' starts?
I see them to in Ohio. Crazy space events this year.
God’s glorious creation
This is nature, god has nothing to do with it. Period.
G5 solar flare.
there was just too much light pollution to see em
