Will FilthyRobot remember anything Arumba has taught him? Will Scotland ever end their war with England? Will Arumba make up his mind? FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON DRAGON BALL Z
This series actually motivated me to start playing EU IV and I must say I'm slightly addicted now... Would recommend this playthrough to everyone finding the game interesting, but being overwhelmed with the seeming complexity becuase with Arumba's guidance and a few failed attempts you'll know exactly what to do! :D
Exactly like I said, yes they should learn to un-pause more and stuff, but it's for Filthy to learn after all and anyone else can follow along and learn themselves from everything. If you don't like it you can skip around in the video or wait till they are all uploaded and pick and choose. Let them be them and do it at their own pace, if they feel like explaining something utterly simple in your mind, very deeply, then it was needed and meant to be. :D Appreciate the content and keep it going guys! :)
Newish player here, but wouldn't it make sense to at least end the siege of Ulster and then siege Pale before evaluating? They'd take MUCH less than the siege of London, and give a bunch of score
It would, but this is Arumba we're talking about - he is probably the absolute worst person to teach you EU4 when you're new to the game. When you're new, just play the game as France or the Ottomans/Portugal. It doesn't matter if you make mistakes, you can afford a lot of mistakes as France or the Ottomans. When you have played for a few hundred hours, come back and watch the tutorial series again - you'll learn new things for sure. Don't get me wrong, I think his tutorial series on CK2 was fantastic, but he's going into way too much detail here, along with the shit about keyboard shortcuts (you want to know which tabs and mapmodes you want to access and where they are first, before memorising the hotkeys for those tabs). Ideally, I would have sieged Kildare and Ulster, before sieging London. If you encounter manpower problems, take a loan or three and hire mercenaries. Do not worry about loans, they're not the end of the world. You can easily pay off all your loans from just this war alone. In fact, you cannot play certain nations without taking loans - they're there for a reason, use them! In fact, if you're ever doing a Manchu run, you want to be at war with Ming until they're bankrupt - that means sucking up all those loans and corruption (debase currency isn't as bad as he makes it out to be either). If you're playing outside Europe as a very large country, like a united India, or China (or as Russia too), you would want to debase your currency a bit in order to have enough money to embrace institutions, unless you want to wait for decades.
Rutars DDRJake uses exploits. Regular, casual gamers who don't give that much of a shit use loans. Also, I'm sure he's been forced to take loans at some point - when events fire that force you to choose between losing stability and a hundred ducats, I'm sure anyone with a sane head would choose to lose the money.
In my humble opinion, you shouldn't start by teaching someone in hotkeys. It's more to memorize = info overload. Also when you learn in hotkeys, if you don't remember the hotkeys, its harder to find stuff. I like how Filthy thinks though. Strategic thinking and forward thinking questions. I hope Filthy is having fun--if he is then good, but if not, slight less detail might help because even without going into detailed numbers, and specific pips etc, it is still easy to guide new players to see reasoning of decisions without that much detail. Great videos though.
A big difference between players and AI: as a player, during a long war, you tend to keep war exhaustion down by sacrificing Monarch Points. The AI, on the other hand, waits until after the war and then buys it down. So in this case, keeping the war going, will force England to get more War Exhaustion. This means it will cost more to buy it down, which means they will have less Monarch Points for other uses.
Tutorials like these aren't the quickest way to get a hang of the game, literally just watching someone play the game does that. The real benefit is for hashing out details I'm unfamiliar with.

FilthyRobot is making me cry he's so salty to Arumba. Love it.
Thank you guys for doing this series, really enjoying it.
Don't apologize for that guys (having the large discussions about game mechanics), it's what is interesting about this series.

It's very slow but that's part of what makes this series funny and interesting. And you're doing a very good job of explaining things.
27 October - December 1
35 days no peace deal, well done guys.
Recalculating!
i cant keep up with the speed of this campaign
Kalinmir yeah honestly it's going a bit fast for me
Kalinmir you're just too slow.
You didn't make Kildare end its alliance because you white peaced him to keep his truce timer low so you can reengage England by DOWing their ally.
There's going to be three more expansions released before we're done. Cool.
I appreciate the videos taking their time and explaining everything when its needed. This is a great tutorial. It's helping me so much.
It does actually tell you how
autonomy is ticking down, but it's by hovering over the autonomy display at an awkward part.
This is not a beginners tutorial. This is expert level.
This is the perfect time to use the twitch emoticon "NotLikeThis"
100 years war, only when arumba is pausing...
I think that's how the real 100 years war happened too. It was really just 100 seconds spread out over eternity.
the Pope will end that siege in France and Arumba will recalculate again CALLING IT NOW
If we're going to move at this glacial pace, can they at least be longer episodes?
an episode where they are straight talking, no gameplay and I'M LOVING IT
"No one straight annexed giant nations":
Except for the Mongols.
They're the exception
Yeah and that made all of europe hate them? That was the point he was making
Before watching: there better be a peace-deal this session!!! :D
RECALCULATING
In an update, England has been given alencon and Maine from the start of the game
time is going by faster in the real world than in this series
ffs, if you're gonna beat around the bush for so long, at least make longer episodes...
Are we there yet?
Don't forget your War Reps in the peace offer
Recalculating :D
my scotland game started two days after this is already over LUL
N Wolff got an heir named Arthur worth 5 6 4 stats.. United the isles with Arthur
Cheers!
They've gone less than 10 years in 26 episodes

Peace deal today?
Nnnnnnope!
Renzo Downey this is the 100th time they said that the next episode is to end the war
I didn't know that war exhaustion worked like that, I always assumed the AI was cheating or buying it down after wars.

man so this England war...
can you at least publish a double issue, or two in one day I'd you only let a single month pass in all 21 minutes?
Caw!
