Octane number is the main difference bro, high speed has 90+ Octane number and it gives out smoother and low emission performance but you need to look at your compression ratio. If it is higher than 9:1 then high speed or premium will do good.

I was watching this video on my headphone. Suddenly at 0:33 I got scared. I thought somebody is calling me. So I removed my headphone and checked then I realized that it is from video. Try to record in quieter environment. Coming to content, I changed my car’s engine oil day before yesterday with same engine oil (5w 30). But I’m in Houston, Texas. Here the max temp is same as Chennai where as min temp is little lesser than Chennai. Before watching this video I didn’t know that it has some relation with weather. Very informative. Thank you.

Hello LMES, Good job on all videos, I like to tell you a correction in the Viscosity grade. In a 10W-40 multigrade oil the W represents the Winter Viscosity i.e at a cold start at -18 C (0 F in idiots system) the viscosity is 10 units and at the normal engine working temperature it will be 40+10 = 50 units and not just 40 units.

Thank you for making this video... Actually I'm am a diploma mechanical engineering student. Even my lecture did not taught like this. Now I understood clearly. Not only this video, beam video, viscosity, and soo on.. Also, I request you to make a video about current problem Chennai's water crisis.. already there are many channel talking about this.. But as you are a popular one, the message will reach easily to everyone.. All the people are struggling to get a single can of water, but corporate companies and flats are getting water easily. Also 100s of water supply lorry are supplying water to them.. When all the major lakes are dry, then how they are getting million litres of water every day..! Please consider this social issue help our future to avoid this problem. Thank you, Muthu
I had this question about this engine oil grades .. for very long time.. thanks for solving this .. your explanation answered all questions.. fantastic job..,👍
Some asked for difference between high speed vs normal petrol? @Lmes team , you have missed one point here. When you start the engine oil in cold condition ,the oil needs to flow to all moving parts of the engine. There are many fine bores through which oil is taken to crankshaft , journal bearings , cam shaft , piston , all bearings and valve asssembly. If engine oil is colder and it will be more viscous and will not flow properly through this bores. These bores are to tiny like our nervous system. It may end up in a scenario that it fails to each one such moving part and that part will face more wear and tear while running cold. I think there is another flaw you cannot compare the cold rating of a oil and oil rating at warm condition directly. Not matter what you do the oil is going to be thinner at warm condition @100 deg C. And oil will be thicker at lower temperatures. So even if it is a 15W40 oil , the viscosity will be lower at 100deg C than at winter rating. This means the oil will behave like a oil with 15 grade at colder temperature and the same oil we definitely become thinner at hot condition but behaves like a oil with grade 40 at 100degC. Thing is do not compare hot and winter rating directly. So the polymer helps to retain the viscosity at higher temperatures , it does not increase.while the cold rating is dependent on the base of the oil as explained by the team.
Already I know all about engines..becoz i am a mechanical engineer..but this video clarify my small doubt about viscosity. ...in last part of video u tell the starting solenoidal motors are upgraded for engine starting..but the real reason is the turbo chargers...it preheated the air and send to intake by compressed the air....this why the modern diesel engines started quickly....
