    One of my favorite things about your videos is how you care about leaving the environment in better shape than you found it. You toss trash, refill the holes you create, and even pick up after others. Good luck on all your finds - and don't change a thing!

    You know I enjoy this a lot. What I am noticing on a lot of videos is most of the people that leave negative feedback don't have anywhere near the subscribers you have. Great job thanks for sharing.

    The following is not meant to be sarcastic or judgemental in any way. Look at it as another lesson taught by an "Old Timer" 77yrs. I've been detecting since 1970 and can give you a few bits of insight, as to what more you need to do to, to become more "Property" friendly.
    #1 Learn to pinpoint much more accurately. Get it down to a 2" dia. plug. Your on someones well manicured lawn.
    #2 Use a drop cloth of muslin, burlap or canvas, with a 2" dia. hole in the center (24"sq.), to place over your target, to catch any dirt that will be dug out, so as to "leave no trace".
    #3 Stand with your weight on the plug after you have finished, to "Re-seat" the plug back to actual ground level it was dug from. On the beautiful lawns that I dug, I carried a small bag of fertilizer, to insure that I would find no brown patches after a week. YES! Most certainly a little more work, but to the landowner your a jewel to keep. The 2" plug will never be found, even if you point him to the plug itself. Good word travels very fast in our hobby. Bad, travels even faster.
    #4 Cover your Mic with a small piece of medical gauze during windy days. It won't take much. Your subscribers will bless you for it.
    #5 And finally, SLOW DOWN. Like Tom, the owner of the GPAA says. It's not having the Gold, as much it's finding the Gold. Your getting good exercise, Adrenalin flow, seeing beautiful county and getting paid for it as well.
    #6 #1 is the key to your success. Perfect it.
    Good luck in your endeavors. Bill

    I think you need to slow down your swings and overlap better. Generally most guys do that, I have gone behind guys and picked up coins they missed. Remember your signal is cone shaped,starting out wide and narrow to a point. You can miss a deep target by a quarter of an inch! Trust me I know. I know too a coin in the ground on its edge will not detect but a year later with the frost or even root growth that coin would be turned enough to detect. One thing I have learned,never assume a signal is whatever the signal may say it is or isnt. I have had mixed signals bouncing between gold or silver and iron,then dig a nail right next to a ring or necklace. I found a few good things that way. One mans junk may be buried next to treasure.

    • @JDsVarietyChannel
      @JDsVarietyChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I did that to add in some fun video footage. Wasn't focusing on targets during the shot of me swinging. And on high end Minelab detectors it's not cone shaped like concentric coils. They use full band spectrum technology which penetrates the same depth under the entire coil. But yeah, the one I'm using in this video is concentric. :)

    I don't think i would worry too much about unfilled holes in an obviously polutted creek bottom. It is easy to see that the water has oil contamination by the rainbow effect and if that doesn't convince you then dead wildlife has to.

    I just wanted to make a couple of corrections on what you have stated in this video. First you are finding Wheat Cents not Pennies. Second the reason that US Nickels turn red or brown or black is not due to the nickle content but rather to the copper that is mixed in with the nickel. If you compare early Canadian Nickels they are pure nickel thus when you dig them out of the ground they are silver/grey. Nice video keep up the good TH'ing. Happy 2017 to all! ;-)

  • @AKphill49
    @AKphill49 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should start telling short stories about the permissions you get. Keep it short without giving away personal information. Something like you knocked on the door and gave your enthusiast talk, and whether the owner was okay with letting you hunt or not. Not that you have to, but it's nice to hear how you obtain the hunting spots.

    When you get permission to detect a big property like this one, did you offer to show the owner your finds? Did they ask to see? Do you offer to split anything 50/50 or do they ask? Just curious to know how this type of negotiation takes place. What your normal procedure is. I'm getting ready for my detector to arrive in the next week or so and am starting to think about places to look.

      @JDsVarietyChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just meant that it's a spot I detect that I show in my videos. This is on public property and everyone has the right to be there. I didn't mean "my spot" in a possessive way. It's a place where people walk/run with their dogs everyday, leaving huge holes can get someone hurt, and leaving large trash items on top the ground is just rude.

    • @georgefaltus
      @georgefaltus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @JDsVarietyChannel
      @JDsVarietyChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I'm not. I just mean it's a spot where I metal detect. And "I" myself, metal detect there. I refer to many places as "the spot" or "my spot" I'm friendly with everyone I meet, especially in the hobby, and try to make new friends. The people I don't care for are the ones that go on private property without permissions, or leave huge holes on public property, putting a bad taste in peoples mouth for the hobby, and even get it banned some places. Judge me how you wish, but I was not implying that in a possessive way. I showed this location in my videos because I don't even care about it. I've never found anything good there and was just burning some time. :)
