  • In this tutorial, Dunc shows you, in detail, how to paint a Horus Heresy era Thousand Sons Legionary from Games Workshop, in their iconic metallic red armour, from start to finish. We show you how to get a fantastic result quickly and easily. This Legion, done in this way, looks awesome on the table top and really pops out.

      Currently sanding down my space marine and working out what to do with him!! 🤦‍♂️
      If you do a paint scheme your not happy with how do you clean it off with out destroying the figure and all its detailing??

    I had no idea that shade paints tend to slip off of a surface sprayed with a metallic basecoat; I've been having that exact issue painting some CSM for a long time, and I've been beginning to doubt the quality of my Nuln Oil/my wash application skills. Knowing that I ought to go over it with a proper base paint first is a great tip!

    Gotta love a good metallic scheme. The Thousand Sons are some of the most unique looking marines out there, both in Heresy and in 40k. That shiny red just feels special.
    Alpha Legion also look great in a metallic scheme. That blue/green/teal effect that Forge World painters do on them makes them really stand out. and this tutorial is excellent for painting that scheme as well. Change out the gold for silver and the red for Akhelian Green or Terradon Turquoise (or both) and you're off to the races.

    Painted an entire army of 30K 1k Sons 3 years ago -- all 1980s Chaos Renegades (and on hexagonal bases for old times sake). I heartily recommend using Tamiya's clear red to tint your metallic paint red. No need to worry about being so careful (as you do using the contrast overpaint method). The only drawback is that you need to spray a 'Satin' Varnish over your miniatures at the end. This because the Tamiya clear red is gloss.

    • @DuncanRhodesDRPA
      @DuncanRhodesDRPA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. The simple reason is the quality of ingredients to make the best paint we possibly could. Our paint isn't 'from the shelf' with a label smashed on but one we developed from the ground up. We wanted it to have both excellent coverage as well as be incredibly smooth and that unfortunately, doesn't come cheap. We also have over 3ml per bottle more including an agitator added to each one and no matter the paint you buy from a wash to an acrylic to a metallic, it's one price. I hope that answers your question 😊
