When I was a kid I met a kid that was always limping around with his foot dragging behind him. One day I asked him why he limped and he straight out said “my mother had cancer when she was pregnant with me. It messed me with in the womb.” I was so upset for the kid and it shattered me knowing that he had to live like that. Heart to him and his family if he ever does see this

This is not respectful or supportive. The mother made her medical wishes clear and the doctors continued to pressure her. They gave her medicine against her will, which is a crime and grounds for losing one’s medical licenses in many places. Patients are allowed to refuse treatment for any reason and no reason and doctors have to honor that. If they had continued to work on a plan behind the scenes and presented one that could save her and the baby for her to consider, that’d be one thing. But they consistently pressured her to make a decision they knew would kill her baby when she didn’t want that. That is highly unethical. The only supportive thing these people did was in regards to the domestic violence.

How exactly? They did everything they could to respect the wishes of the parents not not operate to save the baby. And when the woman was literally writhing in agony, the doctors were trying to save her. The husband is the one who broke the law by punching a doctor. By all accounts he should of been arrested for assaulting a doctor. Not to mention it sounded like he was the one controlling what his wife was going to get. Once she was spasming out, they had to save her regardless of what the husband says.

What are you talking about? They did everything they could to respect the parents wishes to not operate until the baby was viable. Are you referring to when the woman was literally spazzing out on the bed? You seem to not have noticed that it was the abusive husband who didn't want his wife to get help. Even if she was screaming no, by all accounts she wasn't in the right state of mind to refuse due to the pain. Those two are lucky the doctors decided not to press charges for assaulting a doctor.
What is there to be mad about: in the end the woman survived and her daughter was able to be born safely. If they hadn't intervened when Margo was spazzing out, both the mother and the baby would be dead. And the apparently abusive husband wouldn't of been brought to justice

Very few. She was 20 weeks along. Over 90% of abortions happen in the first trimester. Second trimester abortions are far more likely to be because of the mother's life in danger or there is something wrong with the baby (such as no kidneys) that mean it wouldn't survive anyway.
This mother and baby were extremely lucky. The baby was wanted, but the likeliest outcome was the baby dying, wether the mother survived or not. The likeliest outcome for the mother was also death, because she delayed her cancer treatment.
Her body, her choice. She picked the best option she could in the situation and got lucky.

There is/was an abortion clinic in Pensacola (near where I live) that I unfortunately had to take a neighbor to visit. (She was in a toxic abusive relationship & only 8 weeks pregnant) I saw soo many women there who were 24+ weeks pregnant seeking abortions at this clinic. Women who looked like professionals, with one saying the 28 week old baby would interfere with her job. So yes, there are some places -- probably not that many -- where 3rd trimester abortions are sought out. (The thing that got me was how open these women were about their late term abortions. I went home and cried, because I've seen 24 week old babies in the NICU and know they are able to survive 😭)

Has anyone here ever had their life in someone else's hands, and it looked like they were going to choose death? I have. I came from a crime infested neighborhood. I've been on the business end of a thug's gun, and I've seen people bleed out on the sidewalk. There's a look in their eye, when they're so scared because they know they're dying. They want to live, cry out for someone to help save them, but they're unable to form the words. And you see that life leave their eyes; their last moments being full of pain and fear.
That's one reason why I hate abortion, and I hate when doctors refer to babies as "fetuses." It's dehumanizing; labeling someone as less than a human being so that if something happens and the child dies, they've already convinced themselves that "oh, it's not like it was a person, it was a fetus." That "fetus" was a living breathing human being. Any doctor that takes a life for any reason at all is no doctor at all.
