I work at dealership in the 80s, the owner had cocaine and strippers in his office over the weekend. I helped clean up the mess on Monday before his wife found out...lol. He eventually lost his franchise due to odometer tampering
The cold open of "you got to be making some waves to get Detroit to pull your franchise" into the music "That how we do it in the south" Had me cracking up.
I grew up in the car business. Then, I was partners with my brother in my early twenties. One day, the wife of the local GMAC manager brought her daughter by just to meet me. The daughter was visiting from out of town. Took her out that night for a good time and never saw her again. While it lasted, what a charmed life.
Had a friend who owned a Dealership when someone he knew came in to buy a new car and if they were close to a deal he would say he would throw in a special gift in the glovebox to seal the deal. The special gift was an eight ball of coke.
OJT is the best apprenticeship for any job. I don't want a surgeon who hasn't been taught by an elder and just read the book. Nail on the head with types of dealers. Thanks for sharing
I have been working in new car dealerships for over 26 years. 100% correct. Either awesome, down to earth, honest owners or egotistical, bad, dishonest owners.
15 years in the parts world at dealerships...i could write a book about everything i see and hear...the back parts counter is like a bar...everyone comes and tells me their drama or whatever...i usually dont learn a new salesmans or managers name unless they have been there 90 days...so many coming and going in this world...
My dad was service manager / director for a few local ford dealerships. My father in law sales manager for many local dealerships. Both been in the auto dealership world since the 70’s and recently retired. I’m one of the rare ones who’s in-laws get along great lol they’re always talking and sharing stories from the dealership days.
Boy you nailed that profile on big car dealership owners. I've bought a ton of brand new cars & trucks & I've always been loyal to the "good ones", the bad ones you run from as fast as you can man, scumbags all!
Man you got that shit right about ppl working at dealerships being a dif breed. I worked at Tri cities Nissan JC TN in 2000-01. Always something going down from everyone sleeping together or doing shady dope deals in the back where W/S cars were to midnight madness sales.
In the early 90s I tried to sell new and used cars at a large Toyota dealership in Covington, KY. After I sold my first, and only, car two of the older salesmen took my out for drinks. One of these guys was the stereotypical sleazy car salesman. Slicked back hair, porn star mustache, cheap suit that looked expensive, fake Rolex. I watched this guy buy an 8 ball from the bartender at this hole in the wall bar, using his credit card!
My boy got fired from a used car lot because on his day off he got caught for a hit and run out of town and turned out the car he hit was thw owner of said dealership 🤣
I had a loaner car from a dealership while they was working on a car I just bought stopped at a red light roasted the tires on it further the faster well the car beside me pulled in the dealership behind me guess who it was yep the owner of said dealership lol!! Needless to say he wasn’t happy 😂
Don’t knock the FWD eclectic cars. A beretta GTU with 19k miles just sold for 29k. The collector car market is pushing to the 80-90’s stuff on account of high the 60-70’s stuff is.
My dad has a 97 OBS crew cab dually. 454 Vortec 4L80 auto. Has an aftermarket cowl hood on it and runs great. Pulls a 34 foot gooseneck enclosed trailer hauling a 72 nova drag car inside it. Bought it in October of 2019. Sat for 2 years with the trailer hooked up to it. Put some fresh gas and a new battery in it and it fired right up. Has the eagle alloy wheels on it. Has 206K on it. Had 174 on it when he first bought it. Big fan of your stories. I absolutely enjoy them.
Somehow, these stories keep getting more and more crazy. At least you seem smart enough to make sure you’re only hearing about the crazy stories, and not being embroiled in the center of them lol. Appreciate the video.
Man,,, you will have me hook, line, AND sinker if you would only start one of these with "Guys, let me tell you about a guy who runs a trade school of sorts and whines like a BEOTCH when you bet with him about racing old nascars..." Lol

I worked at Landmark Chevrolet in houston for a few months i loved it, then one day we were shut down out of no where along with a few other dealerships the owner owned, apparently Bill Heard wasn’t paying his operating expenses, And customers got screwed on their trade ins. it was a mess.
Over 40 years in the franchised dealers from porter to parts to sales to service to training to accounting I've done and seen it all. Damn it was fun watching idiots trash their business's. There was always another one to work for. I kept notes on all the stuff that went down and I'm currently talking to a ghost writer about what to do with it. It'd make a great movie. Here's a teaser. BJs in the carwash.
Old man that I worked with in a body shop at a large multi brand dealer told me new car salesman are just a step up in evolution from the brain eating amoeba
I worked in a dealership in the early 80's I could tell you stories your never going to beleve from hookers covered in blow laying on hoods of exotic cars to naked orgy pool party's at the owners house on a ski resort, Monday's were damage control bailing out half the sales staff & getting demos out of impound lots. I wouldn't trade ANY of the memories & living it for gold bars it was ABSOLUTLY party on for 6 years making money & having a blast doing it.
I had new car dealers that I wouldn't take a chain of a car till I was paid and little junkie dealers that inverter had question I would pull up and start taking cars off by the I got the first car they had the check for me

That wasn't in Detroit was it? A Buick dealership owned by a former florist, perhaps?

Completely legit story. Car dealers are either hard working business people or pond scum. Have a great week everybody, now go be the Rabbit 🐰
More scum than legit.... Unfortunately
Mostly pond scum!!
I’m currently working at a cocanie and stripper dealership now 😂😂😂 thank god I learned the ropes in Vegas

It sounds harsh but truth is truth!

Reno Nevada I didn’t work at any but I knew a bunch of the people involved. They changed how you get certain prescriptions because of it.

One thing that will kill a franchise faster than it takes for Detroit to dial the owner is irregularities with the floor plan financing agreement.
Miss ya already Rob! ,R I P
A few dealerships in Georgia no longer have to worry about the car market crashing being their biggest concern
Thank you sir for that crazy ass story, i love shit like this hahaha keep them coming!!!
Rabbit is wise. Yes, all the new car dealer principals I have met are extremely good guys of pieces of $hit.

I agree with you! I worked for Kyle Durrence Chevrolet in Claxton & yeah… he’s the latter too
I am guessing Rabbit knows of a dealer or 2 that "forgot" to pay the manufacturer for the cars sold. Instead they used as their own money.....
Like wet dope, that shit don't sell lmao that was good.

Is that the AC? It sounds like you're sitting in the middle of the road or a wind tunnel
Could be also sounds like background noise of cars going down the road. Could be real or could be added in
Do they run the AC in the middle of March, down there in the south? 🤔
I do, year round
I definitely think everyone should work at a new car dealership for at least a month out of their lives. You will walk away with stories for life.

Hey Rabbit, a question for you.
It's not really selling a car, it's helping the buyer justify a decision he's made but not sure about.
I sale insurance on cars definitely got to have the personality I have done well for over 15 years
