Love that this guy helps them out instead of shrugging and being like "gotta let nature take it's course". Intervention isn't the same as interference and when we're talking about a keystone species which can be wiped out from the area simply because of bad luck hunting it's pretty obvious some exceptions can be made in terms of giving these animals the edge they need to survive and reproduce.
The problem is you are artificially supporting the genetics of a male bird that does not feed it's offspring. Now those chicks with those genetics will compete with others of the same species for food. So it is possible that he is hurting other birds by feeding the chicks because other parents who will feed their offspring have more competition. This is not guaranteed though so it's a toss up. I would only support it if the species is in serious trouble. It's not ideal but it is better than them dying.
I agree with you. I had watched a video titled: Lion cubs dying of starvation because of long dry season in Africa. One of the men taking videos said: let nature take it's course, and I commented: you guys just watch these animals died before your eyes? Why not throw just pieces of meat just to help these dying cubs survive!
So true ...i was thinking the same thing....thank goodness he isn't one of those people saying to let nature take its course ..the fact is that a lot of animals are having trouble because of the overpopulation of humans so the way i see it we need to help these beautiful creatures as much as we can because a lot of species are going extinct because of humans taking their habitats so we need to be helping animals as much as we can right now ...what A wonderful human being he is to be helping these beautiful owls to raise their young and try to help with the owl population..
Wonderful video. It reminds me of the when my wife and I were raising our kids and didn’t have enough supplies at times. It would have been nice if “mice” fell from the sky and landed on our living room floor.
In all my years watching raptors, I’ve never had an interest in owls. Your beautiful videos have given me an appreciation for owls in general…tawny owls in particular. Thank you for this newfound interest and Blessing of Christmas joy. ✨♥️✨
THANK YOU 🙏 for actually stepping in and feeding the chicks when you saw they needed a hand instead of just letting nature take it’s course. It’s the most frustrating thing when a camera person just lets a baby animal starve for a nature documentary! I realize we can’t save them all, but we can certainly help where we can.
@@misty_radio4958 mysteriously dropping a mouse over the edge of the hollow 2 ‘ down to the babies isn’t “feeding them” for all they know their dad dropped it in. We’re sort of beyond that at this point in the 21st Century. We know how to help anonymously without disturbing the animals natural instincts.
@@crystalm4324 That is dangerous as it could teach those cubs to associate humans with food with potentially disastrous results. Here it was easy to assure that the chicks didn't see that it was a human that fed them. But losing a dead chicken isn't the same as they could then associate whatever "lost" it with free handouts. Don't get me wrong, it is heartbreaking to watch baby animals die, but it would be even more heartbreaking if that cub grew up to maul someone and had to be shot because it lost it's fear of people.
Thank you for all the films of owls, it's so sweet. I love watching them raise their babies. I don't think we have owls here in New York, it's probably too cold. The first time I saw an owl was in Florida. There's a lot of wildlife there. Up here the wildlife stands on 2 legs!
Agreed, within reason. Generally a lack of prey or a diverted water source is usually humans fault. I know in Africa a lot of cattle farms are growing to such a size that the wildebeest, zebra, and antelope are struggling due to blocked paths from fencing and less grassland. A lack of predators has led to deer issues in the US due to a lack of territory and cars. We should be giving nature back it's land not keeping it to torture other animals.

Thank you with all my heart for your channel. Merry Christmas from across the Pond wishing you Happy Christmas 🎄😊❤ Grandma Sherry
I'm so HAPPY I found Mr. Fuller's TH-cam channel! Robert & his amazing team's documentary style videos are absolutely incredible: lovely music turns to dramatic music when danger approaches (which gives me enough time to look away when tragedy strikes because I'm a wuss lol); black/white video v. colored video is phenomenal; the panning out to lush green gorgeous pastures; Jean & Robert carefully tagging, weighing & cuddling the little owlets, & so, so much more! I cannot imagine the time & effort his team spends creating just 1 video for us. But honestly, it's Robert's soothing, caring voice as a narrator that keeps me coming back. His videos are better than Nat. Geo! And it blows my mind that I can talk into my tv remote & say Robert's name & his spectacular videos appear on my huge flat screen tv! He's replaced my favorite TV shows. And when my daughter hears Robert's voice on my tv, she'll watch his videos with me! Thank you, Mr. Fuller. You have a grateful family of fans in America!!

Thankyou Robert. What a magnificent video present for us on Christmas Day! Spellbinding from beginning to end. And the sunset at 27:56 , preceded by the aerial view of the autumn trees was beautiful. Learned a lot!
Did you see we have two tawny owls sitting on eggs at the moment - they are due to start hatching next week. You can see them on my live stream - th-cam.com/video/YT3Y_w-iSlQ/w-d-xo.html
Excellent music , nice and soft and definitely in the background instead of overpowering. An overall excellent presentation.Thank you for all the hard work that went into this video.
Was extremely interesting to see the tagging process, would love to see that more often. I've noticed in a couple videos between clips the chicks would get a tag but was always curious what that process entails
Tagging or ringing has to be undertaken by a qualified licensed person here in the UK. The process is quick and painless and the birds dont seem to mind. A numbered ring is carefully positioned on the leg when they are the right size - it will not move or restrict the bird in anyway and it is there so that we can monitor the birds for conservation purposes. We can see if how far a bird travels and how long they live. All this information is gathered and monitored so we can see how certain species are doing.
I hope you've enjoyed the video!

I love England 🇬🇧 & my heart still belongs to my British husband & his family from Stoon Coldfield W Midlands so the countryside makes me homesick for them. Thank you with all my heart for your channel. Merry Christmas from across the Pond wishing you Happy Christmas 🎄😊❤ Grandma Sherry
You're doing the lord's work Robert. Birds are awesome.
Watching this while bored in work.
Im now engaged. Thank you for this amazing video

What amazing parents 🤗 gosh! I also love that you help when absolutely necessary!
These videos are incredibly well done. I watch these every day and it’s both relaxing and wholesome ❤

What a beautiful thing!! You are dearly appreciated for your companionship as caretaker to these birds. Just that little helping hand makes the difference 💞
Food delivery from you is very kind ❤
Doesnt every life deserve its own legend :)
Love your channel it’s amazing to these birds thank you for all you do
Thank you and thank you for watching.
Robert so touched by your film and helping these chicks . I’ve done bird rehab and fed baby birds in cages so I know the dedication and love it takes Thank you!!! Ginny Kelly
Thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed it keep tuned in to see more amazing stories
I wonder how Ozzie understood that the eggs need to keep warm, let alone what possessed him to take it on himself to warm them for a bit.
I can't believe how relaxed the chicks were when they were holding them
If you hold them wrong it’s very different but hold them correctly and they say calm and don’t struggle
I feel quite privileged for getting to see these up close and personal moments. Thank you for sharing!!!!
I personally find owls absolutely adorable, and I chuckle whenever they look directly into the camera
Great story of overcoming the odds with a little help from their friend, thank you Robert..Looking forward to an owly new year
Thanks 😊 loads more to come we have half hour on Fotherdale kestrels coming out tomorrow 2pm

I think it’s really cute how she uses her wings like arms to push up and out of her little hole.
This channel feels like the Facebook account of a proud dad posting updates on all his kids and grandkids
Thankyou Robert. What a magnificent video present for us on Christmas Day! Spellbinding from beginning to end. And the sunset at 27:56 , preceded by the aerial view of the autumn trees was beautiful. Learned a lot!

Merry Christmas all! I’m lowkey happy I found this channel is so relaxing to have on.
Excellent music , nice and soft and definitely in the background instead of overpowering. An overall excellent presentation.Thank you for all the hard work that went into this video.
Glad you liked it!
Fascinating and heartwarming - perfect for Christmas. Thank you dear REF, for everything, and all the best to you in 2022!
god bless you. it's great that you've decided to intervene
This was a lovely video; so sweet how the adults communicated to each other. It seemed so tender & kind.💜🙏💜
loved watching the owls grow up , glad you helped them along
Owls are beautiful birds. You deserve a medal for your work.
