Every color besides white suffered from that problem. White reflects the sun and didn’t allow it to bother it too much. I have a black and white one. The 2013 FG4 coupe is my least favorite body style out of all of them but I’m glad you like it. Run it til she dies and then upgrade
Yeah my friends 2012 red civic Si that I might trade a truck for the paint is fading on the top pretty bad too. It's pretty common I see on these cars. It sucks because it's expensive as hell to correct. My 1993 LS400 that's got entire factory paint doesn't have a single spot of sun-fade. Just tiny rock chips, and one spot where the clear coat is gone, but nothing more. Hopefully one day I can get the civic paint fixed and clear coated properly, and get my LS400 just the little corrections it needs and wax.
my 2013 civic si sedan feels unstable at high speeds. wanting to go with some coilovers to hopefully help the handling. is it worth it or will i not notice much of a difference? thanks!
I feel the same way about the suspension!!! I had to get some coil overs because it was so bouncy. I also have another issue when I’m at a high rpm and just let off the peddle it makes a weird sputtering sound. No idea what it is. Some one I spoke to said it’s just the sound the trans makes but I don’t know 🫠. I’ve had the car for 3 years but no issues just that sound. If it is the transmission I’m probably just gunna replace it with a dc5 type s transmission
oh yeah, this car is amazing with some tighter suspension! i haven’t heard or experienced that sputter, interesting.. Man the gear ratios in this car are too fun to swap out!
i don’t know, synchros should only be grinding on shifts. i actually recently heard something about that high rpm sound, they were saying it’s a clutch/throw out bearing issue. message me on instagram @alden_build and we can chat deeper about it maybe look into that and see if it’s similar
Good day, thank you for the video, I am interested in purchasing a 2014 civic but a four-door SI version and I would like to know if it is as unstable in the back as the two-door? Or is the 4-door version more balanced in weight? Thanks for clearing
i do believe the sedan is a tad more balanced. I really only experienced it when i was pushing the car hard through tight turns. I got coilovers and the car feels like it’s on rails now!
This car is not unstable at all I've literally made a right turn at 50mph, you're not swinging the ass out on the car unless it's raining and your going 45mph and you do a fireman's turn with the steering wheel, this car will take the Twisties no problem stock suspension. That said it does have a tad bit of body roll for a tiny car which some people hate and mistake for instability, easily fixed with aftermarket rear sway bar and a Saturday morning.
@@paraxicgaming5743 well sure, tires make a big difference as well! not sure what was on it originally. once i got coilovers and rear camber arms it seems impossible to swing the rear out at all now haha, there is a fine line when it’s stock
I’m so impressed and happy you still have her!! I’m looking at a WHITE 2013 Si tomorrow and I’m thrilled. A couple years ago I had a 2014 Acura ILX, which is basically the same engine and transmission.
there is ways to do it before it gets bad with sanding and clear coating again but it’s been years since this video and it’s way worse now! my plan is to just repaint it eventually with better clear coat
Also you should never be shifting anywhere around 2k. When this car got tested they found out 3-4k is your best rpm to shift at for everyday driving cause of the oil pressure that the car gets. It’s the same on Volkswagens they’re made to perform better shifting higher and is a lot healthier if you do. Never bog these engines, you cause problems over times
yeah i’ve always shifted at 3k in the past with mustangs and usually having loud exhuast 😂 i started shifting closer to 4k and yeah it has made a huge difference in shifting smoothness! feels weird revving it out so much haha thank you for the comment!
The sunfade seems to be really common on these. I don't think the 14' and 15' model suffer from it. I have the same car as you and my biggest complaint is the short gears. I drive and I'm like why the hell do I have to shift to much to get to 50mph lol. I live in California and traffic here is crazy so these short gears are my biggest complaint. Overall I love my car.
I actually really hate washing/detail cars lol. If you where in Phoenix I definitely have you do all my cars once every 2 weeks 🤗nevertheless the rest of the civic looks pretty good. I SEE A NEW CAR IN YOUR FUTURE SOON 👍
Idk if you still have this car but know what you mean about the rev hang, I had a fg4 coupe also. I ended up test driving one with a full exhaust system as I wanted a 2nd one, and this one had no rev hang, it was super weird. It's like the exhaust system opened it up or something. I could just not be hearing it also BECAUSE of said exhaust but I'm telling you it made a world of a difference. Felt so much smoother honestly. Made me wanna put a whole new exhaust on mine. I heard something about it being pretty restrictive from the factory so maybe this is part of whats contributing to the rev hang. Just my two cent as a former fg4 daily owner.
oh for sure, i do know exhuast helps me drive better as well (probably due to flow like you said). after i added a straight through muffler it did slightly help but not enough😂 You know if that one had a tune?
@@AldenBuild I honestly do not know if it was tuned, but I didn't see any indication that it was. Seemed like a bonestock si with a basic aftermarket exhaust, stock intake too. Sounded gorgeous and felt even better than mine to drive. Nothing sounds better than a k24 with a big ol exhaust system on it lol. Made me wanna upgrade my exhaust IMMEDIATELY lol like a must do if you own an Si.
Get a cold air next, duuuudeee shit sounds mean asf from the front! Since we got intake vtec, it sounds like a vortex in vtec and deep! Awesome stuff! Thank you for the info, been focusing on suspension but maybe catback sooner? thank you again, have a great one and enjoy!
I just got a 2014 Honda Civic SI. I absolutely love it.❤❤❤
Same! I've had nothing but issues first 30 days (prev owner/>200k) but otherwise it's such an awesome ride and a joy to drive.

also, does that happen with the clutch pushed in or only in gear deceleration at high rpm

BC Racing Coilovers, and Skunk2 Rear Camber Arms

8th and 9th gen Civics Honda moved to an “echo friendly” paint and clear coat, that unfortunately is trash.
2.5 years later and it’s WAY worse! didn’t know that fact, thank you! just knew it sucked😂
