Facts about Kemo start at about 2:12
A prehensile porcupine aka coendou is from South America found in the rainforests of Brazil. They use their prehensile tail to help climb and maneuver in the trees where they spend most of their lives. They are rodents and are closely related to rats and mice. They have 2 large incisors on the top and bottom which are ever-growing and need to be chiseled against each other in order to keep them the right size. Kemosabe only has 1 top incisor so he needs help from a veterinarian to file his teeth so they don't overgrow and prevent him from being able to eat.

I remember reading a Durrell book where he described a tree porcupine 'boxing match'; "The blows came fast and furious, yet not once did either of them connect, nor did their expression change from rheumy-eyed, good-natured interest. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen."

I love Kemosabe. I had surgery and I'm not able to do much right now. These videos always cheer me up! Kemosabe makes such cute noises.

@@majesticmagpie4108 sapient i think is the word, though im not 100% sure. even a dog or a pig has a higher level of sentience than a human as far as smelling goes.
Sentience means only that one has senses and can percieve the universe. So lots of animals are probably going to be more sentient than us but its really hard to measure as that would seem to require using arbitrary values as the yardstick.

He is sort of an Anti-Minion strikes me, because he also likes bananas and he even has a very related noise but he's simply not smooth and bulky, he represents the very opposite.

But everybody feels your feeling for him and the animals I guess and who could resist to chaff him that way. One sees that he trusts you and that he's not annoyed about.

Lots of ppl don't appreciate seeing animals in captivity. (I'm not one of those ppl, if it's a rescue situation. But a lot of ppl get fussy about animals living with ppl instead of in the wild.)

Absolutely adorable love him.. I have a hedgehog from a baby she was hurt alot so much not able to back to wild I had her checked by vets read books and did loads to learn she is now 5 and comes to me and is a live Tiggy. Live the way Kemosabe speaks to you..

Holy crap, this thing looks like it's smarter than a dog. I can't imagine any dog being able to pull up a bucket on a rope like that.
A dog would think about pulling up the bucket, it just doesn't have the equipment to do that very easily.
You must never have had an intelligent dog. I used to train service dogs and it would be easy to teach a dog that if they had flexible thumb-pads like porcupines.
I have a Service dog and he could do that. However the rope would need to have a tie with a little handle so the dog could use his mouth, since they don't have the same hands as porcupines or thumbs. Just like to open the fridge, we tie a rope on it so they can pull it, since they don't have thumbs, u would just have to accommodate it so they could do it with how there body is structured.

Dogs can't exactly hold things with their paws and pull them hand-over-hand.
