I never dug these amps but the unboosted sound was my favorite. I play more punk rock type riffs so the looser tone is better for riffs where it's just steady downstrokes of 4 chords. Something about boosted tones can get a bit grating with that type of playing for me
@denialoflife666 if I ever get to try one in person I wanna see what the crunch channel can do on it's own and how it takes a Rat style pedal as a boost. It adds some grit and grind and it tightens it up but not in a typical boost way like you'd expect. I can't describe it but it's my go to lately. I would recommend checking out an Ampeg VL, basically a JCM 800 with more gain and a mid frequency selector. They're unreliable but a 5150 can have all the same issues so I'm not bothered by it, they're hidden gems, nails just about any classic rock, thrash, punk, death metal vibe you can want.
Sounds great man! Always wanted to try a 5150 II.
Yet ANOTHER metal video 🥱
It's almost as if that's what this guy uh, like, does on his TH-cam channel or something.
You're right. He should be doing a jazz and blues demo on this 5150 II. DUMBASS LOL
I honestly dig your solid state arsenal more than this.
Is that a Vader cab?
plenty of gain bro and a cool amp but your Crate GX130C and Peavey Supreme 160 sound even more killer to me
@mikerauter1859 I have to agree with you on that one. It sounds great when it's turned up though. But the supreme blew me away...
Cab and speakers ?

@CryptToneMusic I think this amp for what EVH played or similar tones is great. I think this and a jcm 900 raw is a real nice punk tone.

Its C-standart?
An absolute classic but I think it's a little boring sounding these days. It's been recorded to death.
