@ciaran6309 @2millionlightyears 27 minuten geleden Yeah if you compare a country with 330 million inhabitants against a country with 18 million. If you however compensate the medals won at the olympics for population than the Dutvh did way better than the USA. The USA would need 275 gold medals to match it. But won 40.
@@ciaran6309 Really? The US got 127 medals for a country of 330 million people. That is 0.38 medals per million inhabitants. The Dutch team won 34 Medals with a population of 17.5 million inhabitants. That is 1.92 medals per million inhabitants (5x as many per million inhabitants!!)
At last, at last. Denied the GOLD in the mixed relay in Hungary (2023 World Athletics Championships), this was her night to shine. Like the true champion that she is, she has RISEN to conquer all. That was an outstanding performance. This underlies why this may be the greatest Olympics we have ever seen. Femke Bol has stolen, STOLEN, the 4x4 GOLD for the Netherlands. What a finish.
Everyone is slowing down. Femke's running style is very smooth and efficient, takes less energy, so she's able to float from 200 to 300 meters, then keep the speed up in the last 100 while everyone else is "dying". I'm not trying to take away from what she did. Femke is astonishing.

Ι΄m pretty sure that doped undoped she managed to unlock her mind. A very rare and amazing moment that few times athletes do experience in the course of their career.

Just kidding on that 3rd one.
I've watched this numerous times and am just simply blown away with these athletes' ability . Then Miss Bol just blows by all of them . They have my utmost respect .
Vernon Norwood (Team USA) is a Class Act, and a great athlete. Glad he got the WR and SILVER in the mixed relay at Paris and glad he got the GOLD in the men's 4x400m relay at Paris where he gave the recognition to Rai Benjamin for his anchor leg to hold the lead for USA.
I was one of the 75.000 lucky people who were there! We went absolutely crazy ("totaal uit ons dak"). It was a dream come true and it went even more incredible than we anticipated beforehand. There is a story behind it....If I remember correctly 2 years before this Femke was the last runner of her team and she fell to the ground a few meters before the finish. She lost the staff so her team got disqualified while she was first before she felt to the ground. This is her comeback and that makes it special.
Love it how the clearly American commentator only has an eye for the 2 SEC college athletes and kind of get surprised by the amazing talent of Femke Bol who easily takes home the Gold!
He’s focusing on the leaders at the time, as every commentator does. If Femke Bol was leading the pack the majority of the clip he would have given a little background on her instead. That’s kind of what they do.
If Femke had run her leg in 48.8 or so you might say she just did what she always has done. But no, this leg was 47.93, Femke reached a new level and notwithstanding her run in 400mh final, her future will be very bright.
Great to see this on such a big stage. This will be inspiring to many young girl runners that think they can't do this because they never see anyone that looks like them winning at these distances.
Amazing! What can you say. Really, this is over the top and so inspiring. All honor to Ms. Femke Bol. Now I shall watch this again, and send it to my friends. Doctor George Whitehead
Femke Bol is the best #1 hurdler in the world and she has the titles to prove it and the times. Current: World Champion, European Champion, Dutch Champion, Wanda Diamond League Champion. All at the same time concurrently. No other woman in history owns more TOP 50 and TOP 20 fastest times ever recorded in the 400mH. Bol owns 20 of TOP 50 and 9 of TOP 20. No other woman in history has won both the 400mH and 400m flat/open in the same major championship. Bol did it at the 2022 Munich European Athletics Championships and also took GOLD as the anchor of the women's 4x400m relay. No other woman in history has concurrently held both the World Title for 400mH and 400m indoor at the same time. Bol is the current WR holder in the: 300mH, 400m indoor, and 500m indoor.

I think this effort by Femke in the 4x 400 relay in Paris & Ian Thorpes effort in the 4x 100 freestyle relay at the 2000 games in Sydney are the best two finishes in a relay of all time. The only difference is that the whole 4x 100 freestyle relay was brilliant from the start to end of that race especially with the ridiculous comments made by American swimmer Gary Hall Jr before the games saying they were gunna "smash the Aussies like guitars" which spurred on not just the swimmers but the entire Aussie public too. Thorpey came over the top of Hall in the last 25 metres in the pool is the best relay in swimming history while Femke was so behind in the race that you'd think she started running from The Netherlands to France & the way she closed that gap & had that speed to chase down 3 runners & win quite easily was brilliant....also there's nothing better in world sport to see the US get beat. The whole world cheers on every other nation that comes up against America, no matter the sport it's always the US v the rest of the world
Probably one of if not the best moment of 2024 olympics.

Femke looks like she is just jogging .. her athleticism is crazy
The long legs do that.
@ no not necessarily there’s plenty of long legs runners out there and often long legs can actually be a bit of a hindrance for running
Agreed, doesn't look like she was running that fast
My thoughts exactly. She turned it up a little at the end, but she was literally jogging in 4th place waiting to pounce.
