bummer to hear that Joe Hill hasn't been reaching the heights you were hoping for, fingers crossed you find a gem again soon! And aaaah I am excited you have picked up Locke Lamora again, even if it's not in new fave status. Happy reading!!
I ordered the books, because I haven't had a lot of luck with novels. The only one I finished I forgot I read until I saw it on my bookshelf. I'm having better luck with short stories. I'm reading a collection that says is all of HG Wells' "supernatural tales." I'm eleven stories into the collection. Most of them have been good, with one being average, and five being great.
Sandman Slim goes on a somewhat uneven, but persistent downward slope after the first book. It was those hints at goodness that kept me going for as long as I did. I didn't even consciously dnf the series, I just caught up to what had been published and never picked up the next book because I just no longer cared. I think it was just pure momentum that got me to that point. And the last book I read ended on a rather big cliffhanger. From what I've seen my experience with the series is not unique. Hopefully it picks back up for you, but if it doesn't you're far from alone.
So far i read Long after we are gone by terah shelton Harris i absolutely enjoyed it the book reminds me of the show Yellowstone The holiday swap by Maggie knox The Graham effect by elle Kennedy Bring me your midnight by Rachel Griffin
Oooh that doesn’t sound great for Sandman Slim bk 2. That series hasn’t called to me yet and is way down my urban fantasy list to try. I never fell in love with Locke Lamora but if you end up feeling the same hold out hope cuz I thought bk 2 hit it out of the park.
@@BooksWithBenghisKahn good to know know about Locke lamora. I really am struggling to get myself to read book 1. It’s not bad at all but I’m not called to it.
