To whom it may concern (I know that this is not ALL of you): Guys, please stop asking for my permission for you to do these exercises incorrectly. I've never before seen so many people so ready to quit as soon as they're met with the slightest challenge. As I clearly stated in the video, your jaw should NOT move on the "Yah-Yah"! It is NOT acceptable for it to move. I don't know how else to say it. The directions won't change, just because you ask me, "Hey Eric! is it ok if my jaw moves?". If it is difficult for you, then you simply need to practice that much more! There is no magical secret to this; the exercise just takes good old fashioned practice. Some of you need to exercise a bit more patience. Progress is not always instant. Some of these exercises and techniques involve you using muscles in ways that you've never used them before. So it's ok to not be perfect right off the bat; cut yourself some slack here. But, at the same time, don't settle for mediocrity. Each day, you should find yourself getting gradually better and better. It doesn't have to be perfect now (i.e. unwanted jaw movement), but it should get better each day. Don't give up, just because it's not effortless. Sometimes we have to work for it. C'mon guys! Work!

I would like you to know that you Eric ,
really are an incredibly clear instructor no matter how many people can’t understand and ask you 100 times . Thank you for answering them. Apparently they want to understand.
But it doesn’t matter if you only get a B minus on technique in the long run, the exercise works awesome! You will listen to him every time no skipping . I was blinded as well so if I get the video, I’m lucky I JustPlay the entire way through. After hearing him for a year, you’ll understand what he’s asking you to do and how to do it and you will get the results you’re looking for. I know people understand me now. And I can sing again!
Eric is the best coach ever just listen to him over and over and over again and practice over and over again and you will see results! Good luck if you don’t give up, no one can stop you!
Do the best you can and you will get results.
I love you And you are funny to boot thank you.!!!!❤️❤️
Guys this really works just practice. Over and over and over and over and over and over.
You will hear a difference in time. I am proof. After a year people could understand me again.
But since I was a singer before my strokes, I am a singer, no matter what and therefore I practice so I can help my
      muscles to sing 👍✌️
Never stop practicing and never stop singing. If you love it keep going . Don’t stop

I've always had a 'quiet' voice, and when talking or singing I always felt as if there were a 'sheet' over my voice and when I tried to go past the sheet I would crack, squeak or loose my voice. This has really helped remove that sheet and allow me to be confident with my voice, I'm stronger and louder without trying after these. I sing a lot more now because I enjoy the reliability, even though I only started doing these so I could speak better.

Im back here after doing these exercises for a month now. At first the yah yah exercise is so damn hard 😂 For 2 weeks i just cant get it right. My jaw keeps moving and i have no idea how to stop it so i decided to skip it 😂 But then after a month I have no idea how it happened but I can do it now. My jaw didnt move and my tongue just moves forward when i say yah yah. (Probably one of the most happiest moments of my life) Also these exercises are soo effective! Im not saying I ended up singing like Celine Dion or Whitney Houston but It's easier to sing now. I dont feel the burning sensation in my throat, im not stiff when i sing anymore, and before my voice is exhausted after singing 3 songs. My friends says i sound so relaxed and my voice was so calm unlike before. In other words I don't sound like a crying donkey anymore. Thank You so much for this videos! I love you!

I'm so appreciative of your videos and I love how friendly and charismatic you are in the videos. I've been singing almost my whole life, but never to anyone else. So when I recorded my singing a few days ago, I realized how terrible I sound. Your videos have already made a difference that I can notice.

Overall good exercises. As a voice therapist (speech therapist) who works with injured singers I'm all about isolating tongue and jaw movement from each other and from the larynx. However, (and this is just me being nitpicky about anatomy) you can't strengthen the edges of your "vocal cords." The vocal folds have many layers. The edges that actually touch are made of gelatinous cartilage. Deeper to that is a ligament and THEN the muscle. When that muscle contracts it stiffens and shortens the vocal folds; it does not close the vocal folds. When you say "uh-uh-uh" it is your lateral cricoarytenoids and interarytenoid muscles that you are activating with glottal onset exercises. Again, great exercises, and I think it's great that you are educating the masses about relaxation, coordination and focusing on how it fundamentally feels more than getting a big sound!

No cap. Your first two videos improve like 5% my vocals for my song. I could only imagine a full year of practice.

Thank you very much Mr. Arceneaux. You are patiently giving voice lessons for free. I'm an alto singer in a choir, but with your vocal training thru videos I've learned proper technick etc..etc...more importantly developed confidence that I really can sing and even ready to sing soprano. I wish all the best and may God Bless you always.

Recently I've started back singing after not singing for like 4 years, man I've been rusty and discouraged! But these videos have already shown me a tremendous difference. There are so easy and can be done on my way to work, school, church, etc. Thank you for this!

    ERIC! Ansh here from India..
I came to TH-cam just after I was trying to record a cover of a song that has high notes and yet is smooth. I was a little sad/frustrated about the high notes.
I'm so glad I found you ! Watched the warm up video and I actually tried to sing the same song again (not record) just like that and I was much more comfortable this time. Not a huge change of course coz I just practiced it ONCE.
Now that I have subscribed to your channel, I will go through EACH lesson and practice it.
Thank you for being there.. got my hopes alive! :) God bless you.

I love how you’re very clear when you explain, honestly if you would’ve never said that “yah” is what pushes the tongue out I would’ve just kept forcing my tongue to move like yours but once you said that I was like “OH!” That makes so much sense wtf
