Best demo of the TMP yet. It's refreshing to see someone put thought into getting a good sound rather than complaining about the presets on version 1 software such as Rhett. I told Rhett he could make a Dumble sound bad. A good design allows for brilliance to flourish. The Stratocaster was a good design for Hank Marvin, Dick Dale. But it became apparent the Stratocaster was a great design with Hendrix. The TMP is a great design. Brilliance is flourishing, no manual needed.
Realizing this is already a 2 month old video (at least 2 years in TH-cam time)...but, I have ot say what an incredible demo. You never fail to disappoint and use things in an interesting yet usable way. Thank you so much.
Pete Thorn is an absolutely likeable and fantastic musician. Whenever I'm interested in new equipment, the first thing I do is see if there's a review by him! It's great to listen to - sensationally good demo songs - and you always get really excellent information!
As usual with Pete's videos, I find myself watching it over and over to see just how he does things. I have some of the gear he demos, but it doesn't sound as good when I'm playing through it. He's very creative and has amazing talent. And he's having a great time doing what he's doing. Nice to see.
I have had this unit since its debut release... I had an extremely positive experience, Fender has released 2 quality firmware updates so far, and both have been jam-packed with very useful and practical updates. I am looking forward to seeing some implementation for basa amplifiers, but for now, the studio preamp and the tube preamp both work wonderfully. The only thing I wish could be extended. Just a little bit longer is the current looper only works for sixty seconds. For most people, that might cut the mustard. But for people who are doing a lot of looping. I still rely on my standalone looper pedal.
One of Pete's best! Methodical, useful and approaching from a positive constructive way that gets some really good info into the hands of us mere mortals that layed down the chunk of change for this modeler. Thanks for showing us different ways to utilize the TMP! Look forward to other ways to use this kit as it continues to get updates. Will definitely watch this over a few times!
I have the IR-X and the Tonex and they are both pretty awesome. The IR-X just feels great to play (especially with some reverb from my apollo interface). Tonex is awesome and super versatile.
As an owner of the Tone Master Pro I was happy to see your amazing demo. When you pulled out the Danelectro 12 String you had my full attention! Happy Holidays Pete!!
Since years I don't watch this kind of content to figure out, what I desperately need because basically all gear sounds amazing. I watch/listen to hear awesome players playing awesome lines. You are my king in doing that. Best wishes! (to everybody).
I have been using one the last few months. I really love the Fender Amp sounds in the unit. The effects are also very good. Great playing and demo by you.
I bought one and have not used it live yet. What Pete does here is very cool. The new era of modeler/processors is breathtaking. I love showing up to a gig with a pedalboard and two of my Petrucci guitars and be set! Sound guys love not having to battle with the 100+db stage madness. And I love not having twenty failure points! Love where things are headed and Pete is the best out there. 🤟🏼🤟🏼
So grateful for these videos- by far the most informative gear videos with wicked playing. Super entertaining and informative, without commercial biases. Pete, you are a true professional. Thanks so, so much.
I'm definitely like the 2,423,984 person to say that watching Pete Thorn gear demos is such a terrible thing to do if you want to not go bankrupt. And also to say that it really is unfair just how frickin great Pete makes everything he touches sound so incredible. Plus, of course, always seeming to effortlessly come up with original, awesome guitar parts. Been with ya from the beginning Pete. Like fine wine you just keep getting better and better.
Pete, this video is wonderful, thank you for showing us a set-up I wouldn't have thought of with my TMP. Please post more videos with your TMP rigs, patches, etc. :)
You have to try it. I have had one for a month. It has made me a better guitar player. That's reason enough to get one. Gigs are another reason. Life is short is another reason. It should be on your Bucket List.
Pete, The idea of using an acoustic image in place of a speaker IR to model realistic acoustic tone from an under saddle piezo is pure genius. I’ll have to try that eventually. Incredible stuff and playing man.
Thanks for the great review Pete. I just got mine and can’t put it away. People hating on the TMP platform 1) won’t make any more money giggin’ 🤣 and 2) reveal more about their bias (pun intended), than about the gear itself. I’ve got 3 real world gig loadouts already and have only had the TMP for a week! Rock on!
Really nice to see a pro champion this unit without the endless comparison to competitors. Some more vids on interesting ways to use it and perhaps some uploaded presets to tone cloud would be greatly appreciated
This is the first time I bought a product before Pete demo'd it. I agree that you HAVE to edit the presets a lot or create your own. It's not plug and play, if you want to get any really cool sounds out of the TMP. But no modeling unit I've used has been any different, as far as the need for serious tweaking goes. Thanks PETE!
You are such a great musician, the way you play is absolutely adorable. I'm into making music for over 40 years now, but I never ever heard a Stratocaster sound that good like the Sunburst at the start of your video: this is absolutely magic and (if I got this right) in the middle (!) position, later with the bridge pickup: this sound nails it! The Strat was invented for exactly this sound! O.m.g. .... unbelievable 🤩🥰❤
Hi Pete! You did a great job (as you always do) showing the sounds and the different possible ways you can use this toy but, I know, I've left a similar comment before but I'll say it again: *I love listening and watching you play the guitar!*
Great review Pete. I like how you did it a little differently from others and I appreciate the work you put into it. Loved your compositional piece too 👍
The IR trick on the acoustic works great. I found out that it also works great on my Marshall It gives a really nice light reverb type ambience and a bit of faux 4x12 to my single 12 cab.
He used an IR of an acoustic guitar overlayed on his bridge saddle acoustic guitar pickup. Is that what you did? If you use guitar speaker IR's with a real guitar speaker you are doubling the speaker/cab resonance effects and the LP filter slope. Not necessarily a bad practice, but may get a bit muddy. A close & neutral sounding mic'd IR with different resonance peaks and a higher roll-off freq than your real speaker might be nice. Something like a G1230-55Hz or EVM12L type or even a JBL D120 or K120 close mic'd with an SM81, U67 or other such accurate/neutral mic with a low proximity effect would be worth trying. Ribbon mic's have a very strong proximity effect. The low end can be very boosted depending on the IR. You can check the freq response of IR's with white noise and a freq analyzer. A 3~6dB bass proximity boost on a 1x12 cab IR will give your 1x12 cab a 4x12 sound, but any bass boost on a 4x12 cab IR will overdo it.
Hey PETE! Wonderful composition! Really appreciate all your reviews, and natural proclivity to think outside the box. I think the TMP is going to find its way into my studio after this excellent video. BIG THANKS 😊
One thing to note, the TMP is perfect for a single act. Run a vocal and guitar into it and give them their own path with effects, comps, etc. Easy peasy! What really made me go away from the Quad Cortex was the power supply. The QC uses a wall wart and the TMP uses an IEC. I don’t want to deal with a wall wart in a gig situation.
In isolation the acoustic sounds a bit too bright but that's ok because when you add all the other instruments it sits perfectly in the mix. Great job 👍
We're so lucky to have all that so readily accessible. What a great time to be a musician. I have the helix rack and the tonemaster pro and I am finally happy.. I am using the Darkglass ADAM for bass though... If TMP adds proper bass utility I'll maybe sell that puppy
Any company "should" make sure you do the demo. Thanks Pete for showing how new gear can be used to it's fullest. Funny how I see a lot of these on the used market, so soon.
Pete really love the intro piece. Your compositions inspire! Tones would great. As I have heard with other demos on the Master Pro, it does clean really good.
Fantastic Pete I brought one of these and really like it but this is a refreshing take on this pedal very well thought out and done.i must also say I'm a little tired of some of the self professed experts on you tube .... but like you there are the ones who really do it well and demo so we'll as there quality players thank you Pete
Hey Pete, really excellent demo. But i I was wondering if we could have an updated demo as the Tonemaster Pro has had quite a few updates in the last year. Would you please consider this? Thank you 😊
Sick song, SUPER helpful information on the unit, and great tips on being more tasteful with the signal chain. And thanks for showing how capable it is with bass guitar. Very much appreciated, liked and subbed!
I like the high effort you put into your demos. The Tonemaster Pro seems like a really strong entry into the high end floor amp modeling field and able to compete with the likes of the Helix and Boss GT-1000.
I wanted to hear surf tones and maybe some Jimi and some early Stones, but I really like what you did and the way you went about it, especially the fuzz and the Destroyer parts. 🤩🤩That is the way to do modeling -break all the rules, do things you almost cannot do with real amps and equipment etc...
Holy Cow that Guild electric is amazing!!! Your getting great sounds from that Tone Master man!!! I just picked up a good old Boss GT3 on the cheap ( 80$ !) to add to my live gig pedal board setup. I use manual mode to just add 6 xtra pedals to my arsenal. It actually sounds really good man. The noise reduction is invisible!! Got an NOBELS ODR 1 to boost my solos but now i just leave it on cause it sounds so good! Using a Fender Highway One HSS ( Actually a Burstbucker in the bridge) Obviously the Tone Master kills thr GT3 hahah!!! Cheers from Montreal!
What an awesome video showcasing the Tone Master Pro. You should run the marketing department at Fender. This is the first video that has me considering purchasing one.
Finally! A very great, true application of the unit, much more interesting than a demo of all the bells and tricks it can do without comparing to everything that already exists.... and trash talk if it emulates perfectly trad amps. It just sounds good!!!!!!! Playing, studio skills and recording knowledge are to another level as well, to start with!
I really like the demo, kinda makes me want to get one. But then every time you demo something I want to go out and buy it. I'm a huge fan and I'm sure your friend EVH was too.
The high frequencies seem more pronounced with the Tone Master than other modellers like the Quad Cortex, Helix, and Fractal. Definitely hear more high frequency content coming through on the Tone Master amp models vs the actual amps running in four cable. Did you find the need to run any post processing (EQ / Filters) to smooth out the modeller amps or have to run third party IRs to get more natural sounds?
Peter, killer playing on the opening piece! Why do so many people hate on this unit? Other than the price point, it seems like a massively functional box with great tones!

What do you think of the '59 Fender Tone Master Bassman guitar amp? Convolution reverb, effects loop, Vintage/Tight switch, 1 - (57), 2 - (421), 3 - (blend), IR settings.
Excellent review, Pete. This thing is easy to use and sounds great. The cork sniffers who are negative about it baffle me. The thing I like best about it is the display and user interface.

Excellent Job Pete,,, as the Song goes ""No One Does It Better "! THORN! PETE THORN!! Sounded Awesome and always inventive , Thanks PETE sounds like a great grab and go Box 🤘🎸🤠
So how do you think this compares to a Helix. I am new to modelers and trying to decide between the two of these and I find myself really liking the TMP but I figured I should ask your opinion between the two before I buy one :)
Best demo of the TMP yet. It's refreshing to see someone put thought into getting a good sound rather than complaining about the presets on version 1 software such as Rhett. It's great to listen to - sensationally good demo songs - and you always get really excellent information!
Kind of mind blowing that a legendary guitar player took the time to make a very practical and informative demo. Thank you.
Hey thanks! I'm a legendary guitar nerd maybe, ha!
As usual with Pete's videos, I find myself watching it over and over to see just how he does things. I have some of the gear he demos, but it doesn't sound as good when I'm playing through it. If only there was a Pete's hands pedal...
I don't think they have one of those
One of Pete's best!
I want to see a brown sound shootout between different modelers, including IR-X. With echoplex in the front and the whole 9 yards.
I have the IR-X and the Tonex and they are both pretty awesome. The IR-X just feels great to play (especially with some reverb from my apollo interface). Tonex is awesome and super versatile.
The fractal audio axe fx iii wins that battle. Easily.
Brown Sound shootout....is my mind so deep in the gutter or why do I read this as the punchline of a toilet joke?
THIS.. get er done Pete!
Leon Todd shoots out the JCM 800 models, which is certainly brown sound adjacent.
Fender vs Fractal vs Quad Cortex vs Helix
As an owner of the Tone Master Pro I was happy to see your amazing demo. When you pulled out the Danelectro 12 String you had my full attention! Happy Holidays Pete!!
Since years I don't watch this kind of content to figure out, what I desperately need because basically all gear sounds amazing. I watch/listen to hear awesome players playing awesome lines. You are my king in doing that. Best wishes! (to everybody).
Best Tonemaster Pro review I have seen. I love how you show how you can totally integrate external pedals and amps. The four FX Loops are amazing.
I have been using one the last few months. I really love the Fender Amp sounds in the unit. The effects are also very good. Great playing and demo by you.
Wonderful to see some very different perspectives of the capacity of this thing PT - great creativity. 👏🏻
What a fantastic demo. Certainly the most complete, in depth I've seen. Well done, Pete.
Glad you liked it!
this is one of the most inspired pieces of music I have heard in one of your demos in a bit. I love it!
I bought one and have not used it live yet. What Pete does here is very cool. The new era of modeler/processors is breathtaking. Im an old man now. I dont see to well . I love the large display. Your video on the tones and operation sold me on it. Thanks for the great video!
So grateful for these videos- by far the most informative gear videos with wicked playing. Super entertaining and informative, without commercial biases. Pete, you are a true professional. Thanks so, so much.
The dual chorus effect on the intro is just gorgeous
I'm definitely like the 2,423,984 person to say that watching Pete Thorn gear demos is such a terrible thing to do if you want to not go bankrupt. And also to say that it really is unfair just how frickin great Pete makes everything he touches sound so incredible.

Thank u!
I love the fact that you do things so well, I can tell when something is still not for me. And when it is it just resonates.
Pete, this video is wonderful, thank you for showing us a set-up I wouldn't have thought of with my TMP. Please post more videos with your TMP rigs, patches, etc. :)
I've seen several of these reviews, and this one is the best. I'm getting tempted to get this.
Very thorough review of the TMP - it's great to see some of the capabilities of the TMP beyond basic preset usage. Nice demo, Pete!
Thanks!
That Thayil model is beautiful! Great demo as usual. Can't say I'm captivated by the unit, but it's always great to have some competition in the area.
You have to try it. I have had one for a month. It has made me a better guitar player. That's reason enough to get one. Gigs are another reason. Life is short is another reason. It should be on your Bucket List.
Killer demo, Pete! Seems like a powerful unit.

Should Pete really be demo'ing gear....he just makes everything sound amazing. Great to see his success. 👍
This is the first time I bought a product before Pete demo'd it. I agree that you HAVE to edit the presets a lot or create your own. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of presets usually! I want to get in there and make my own usually
so thorough and yet concise. it's neat how many things you were able to do, shows how creative you are
Killer composition as per usual Pete, great job!! Tones are nice, and it looks like it is fun to program as well. Great graphics.
That editor UI/UX looks very well thought out and beautifully designed. Really impressive, Makes me want to look at the unit even more now.
You are such a great musician, the way you play is absolutely adorable. That Strat solo at the start was epic. Strat bridge pickups can sound so sweet.
Great review Pete. I like how you did it a little differently from others and I appreciate the work you put into it. Loved your compositional piece too 👍
I appreciate that!

Thorough and approaching from different angles than other reviews, on top of the usual multi layering, good stuff

Brilliant composition at the beginning Pete, you are one of the most talented guitarists alive, and a real inspiration for my playing.
What a great demo. Thank you for making this! inspired and inspiring playing, wow!
Pete makes everything sound great. Personally I’m still enjoying my FM9.

Plot twist: Pete makes everything sound amazing because he’s amazing haha. Great tones as always brother 🤘🤘
Thanks!
Hey Pete, really excellent demo. But i I was wondering if we could have an updated demo as the Tonemaster Pro has had quite a few updates in the last year. Would you please consider this?
Thank you 😊
By far the best video I’ve seen on the TMP! Nice one Pete 🤘
Sick song, SUPER helpful information on the unit, and great tips on being more tasteful with the signal chain. And thanks for showing how capable it is with bass guitar. Very much appreciated, liked and subbed!
Thanks!
I like the high effort you put into your demos. The Tonemaster Pro seems like a really strong entry into the high end floor amp modeling field and able to compete with the likes of the Helix and Boss GT-1000.
Thank you! This one did take quite a bit of time!

this demo track would sit right at home during a live stadium half time show with the best of them. What a solo 😮
Thanks!
Been waiting for your demo! Going to have to get one now.
What an awesome video showcasing the Tone Master Pro. You should run the marketing department at Fender. This is the first video that has me considering purchasing one.
Freaking Great Tune, Pete! You have out done yourself! Great sounds out of that Fender Tone Master! Thanks!
Thanks for listening!!
Thanks for listening!!
Glad you liked it!
I really like the demo, kinda makes me want to get one. But then every time you demo something I want to go out and buy it. I'm a huge fan and I'm sure your friend EVH was too.
Finally a review of this unit from someone I trust 100%
The high frequencies seem more pronounced with the Tone Master than other modellers like the Quad Cortex, Helix, and Fractal. Definitely hear more high frequency content coming through on the Tone Master amp models vs the actual amps running in four cable. Did you find the need to run any post processing (EQ / Filters) to smooth out the modeller amps or have to run third party IRs to get more natural sounds?
Run it thru your tube amps and best speakers used this as a pedal sounds amazing same as a GT 100 mustang 169.99 used
That red and black Suhr always makes the killer cuts.
Peter, killer playing on the opening piece! Why do so many people hate on this unit? Other than the price point, it seems like a massively functional box with great tones!
Showing how to set up and run a volve amp with 4CM is great thanks 👍
Very nice Pete. That Guild is sweet! Sounds great.
It’s hard to tell if I’d like it, because Pete makes everything sound good. 🤪🤘
I keep saying, the gear isn't what is important....the playing is. Most people don't obsess over gear the way us guitar players do. They do care about crappy playing.
I'm not yet entirely convinced about the Tonemaster series (but I'm getting there!) but I have to say that Pete is great at exploiting the inherent abilities of his gear, and is able to get luscious sounds out of most of them. He has excellent taste.
Just stellar. Cool song and thank you for showing some creative, alternative ways to use this
Thanks Pete... I was waiting for someone to use this with a bass...
Hi Pete. Can you explain the hook up and how to set the preset using the amp control? Thanks
Great video Pete. Been thinking about picking up this unit, glad I ran across your demo. Are you going to review the powered cab too?
Super informative, thanks! And sweet playing, I love how musical you are.
Thank u!
Some pretty good geetar faces! 🤘🏼 Excellent, in-depth demo…again👍🏼
Hell yeah man. Just discovered your channel. Nice Guild! I have an old 1994 S-100.
Great tones! Very great talent you got
Any chance you could do a demo on setting up a dry /wet set up using 2 amps ..?
What a gift Mr. Thorn is, you are fantastic Pete!
Hey thanks!
Great sounds and great playing as usual
I seriously can't wait to see you again at the classic rock show!
Nice, but can you do a latency comparison test? Compare the TMP vs the other big modelers?
Pete thanks for making the Bass patches.
Fantastic demo as usual. Pete!! Thanks !!
Great video, Pete! With all of the routing options in the Tone Master Pro, would you think it could act in the place of a switcher? So, I could have a few of my favorite fuzzes, my amp, and the Tone Master Pro as a rig, with the TMP as the "brain" and modulation/time effects? That would make this product more cost effective, if it could act as a switcher in my rig.
Yes, absolutely I think it could work well for your situation, as long as you don't need too many loops!
Excellent Job Pete,,, as the Song goes ""No One Does It Better "! THORN! PETE THORN!! Sounded Awesome and always inventive , Thanks PETE sounds like a great grab and go Box 🤘🎸🤠
Thx for this Pete! Great compositions and tones!
So how do you think this compares to a Helix. I am new to modelers and trying to decide between the two of these and I find myself really liking the TMP but I figured I should ask your opinion between the two before I buy one :)
that was one of your best intro tracks ever!!!
That opening jam was sick!
Loved that clean chord progression
The Dani 12 string Vox sound was amazing!
Love that tone as well!
Do you favor the fender over the Helix and quad cortex now?
