I've been watching Tim now for only a few months, and have come to the realization that 99% of humanity will never know what it is like to possess such talent as Tim has on the guitar. Not to mention he is fantastically upbeat/positive with his audience.. It's infectious.

I've been watching his channel since the very first video all those years ago.
As I'm in the industry, Tim and I have contacts and friends in common.
I've also been playing for 45 years and I have long arrived at the fact that I'll never so much as bend a string that comes close enough to Tim's stratospheric amazing quality, ability and talent.
      I am not worthy. Fact.

I met Tim once not even knowing who he was. He was so easy going and never talked about himself. We spoke about regular life topics. It wasn’t until someone said “hey man, did he teach you anything or tell you anything interesting?” I said he told me LA has changed so much and isn’t a place for everyone. After I learned who he was, I thought wow, he’s a regular guy that puts his pants on like all of us. Well, except for the fact that his pants are made from gold records…. I love this channel and I don’t even play the guitar!

Your channel is much more then information. It's pure, calm down , meditation. Your playing is so clean and fantastic , even your smiling. This smiling shows your deep old soul and made the people relaxy and peaceful. For me, it's like a anti depressive medication.

I sold all of my amps and pedals to go all in on a TMP, last Fall.
No regrets. For me, playing live weekly, in a quiet stage setting- it does it all. Electric and acoustic (with an acoustic preamp running through an FX loop) rigs are attained, hassle free.

Thank goodness! A demo of the FTM demonstrating clean/semi-clean tones. It seemed every other video I looked at on YT was showcasing cacophonous high gain, which tells me nothing about a guitar processor. It's in the detail of how it emulates clean tones that decides it for me. Thanks Tim.

Wow thanks so much for taking the time to do these presets Tim! I bought the Pro a year ago and have used it on stage. The ability to confidently make changes in real time without the panic that you are going to need 4 screens to get back to where you started is a game changer. And as you demonstrated great authenticity without cable and power supply issues of a board!

Dude, you are so utterly right about people warring over their equipment. Sometimes I think people defend their stuff so heavily just to stave off any hint of buyer’s remorse when they research other products. There’s just no way that 99% of the hardline defenders/detractors have played all of the gear they so passionately comment on ad nauseam. Fly rig, QC, Helix, TM, tube amp…just be happy with what you have and listen to other people’s stuff, too. What’s so difficult about that?

It's great to hear your take on seeing all the modelers as tools in the cabinet. I think the reason many people disrespect things they don't prefer comes more from only being able to justify owning one. They want to believe they bought the best, or still have an incredible product even if it's not the most expensive. It's easy to fall into the trap of arguing for the one you chose when you can't afford or justify the expense of the others.

The most important quality for my own gear is RELIABILITY! If I am going to use a modeler to replace my amp(s) on stage, it had better always work. I've had Line 6 products, and most recently a TONE X pedal. The Line 6 stuff was pretty reliable, but the TONEX stuff was just plain "junk". Three pedals out of three shipped to me were defective, with the first pedal was OBVIOUSLY defective. If that amount of attention (or serious lack of) is given to the obvious, how much less attention is given to the unseen components and software. The idea of having less stuff to haul to a gig is very appealing, but if it's not reliable, it's not going to work. If I can't make quick changes to settings on the fly, I don't want it. If it's going to take me weeks to become familiar with the technology ... I don't have time to waste. My regular gear (extremely downsized from my gear in the 70s) is reliable, sounds GREAT, is reasonably portable, and you don't need a manual or endless tutorials to use. I don't need several hundred amp and speaker options either. Just a few, and let my playing dynamics take care of the rest.

Tim I’ve played around with modelers and one thing you said stood out: a whole lot of the sounds seem geared towards metal players. I find myself always going back to my 65 Bassman custom 1x12 combo with my pedalboard. I like playing clean with a little breakup and then using a Tube Screamer or OCD when I want various levels of distortion. But maybe you could do a masterclass video on working through modeling setups. Best practices and all. I like that you pointed out on this unit that you got through it intuitively. That means a lot. I WANT to go to modeling, just haven’t been happy so far with where I’ve gotten with it.

rRemember what your hearing is direct into DAW / Video. In a room through monitors or flat freq speakers it sounds nothing like a real amp but in a recording or direct into pro tools or other software like studio one pro it sounds so good. By the time you get a band song to an MP3 compressed, you really can't tell they are not real amps. Tim has ears. most people should get his presets as a starting point. He's a straight shooter

Tim I think it would be really cool to hear how you set up the signal chain of your pedals/effects. I say this cause I've never seen a noise gate after an overdrive. Is there a specific reason? I have a few ideas why you would do that. Also if you have any other interesting/cool signal chain tips like that I'd be happy to hear about them.

Killer playing as usual Tim! I got the TP when it first came out and after this latest Firmware update....sheesh...it sounds really good. I've got real amps and love them, but this modeler is not only the easiest (agree with Tim), but I find myself PLAYING more (like with my real amps) and tweaking less! Very satisfied with the TMP. Thanks for the presets and demo man!

I love your take on gear. These things are tools. My rig is a Boss GX100, Eventide H90, and a Wampler Pantheon delux dual drive pedal. It sounds absolutely wonderful. You need a good ear, knowledge of signal chain, effects and eq. And fingers. 😆

This is awesome Tim! Im very happy to see people like your self moving the Tone Master up a notch, when it first came out i thought that it might now move like the FM9, but it seems as its been used more its getting up there. Thanks for the awesome content as always!

Great demo! You’re ability to dial in that china grove tone really speaks volumes on what the Fender ToneMaster Pro is capable of producing. Really impressed with hearing in action with your playability and experience to let this modeller shine! :)
Edit: Nicely said on the different modellers as tools rather than which one is better than the other. They all sounds good at the end of the day.
It’s not the gear it’s the ear haha

I almost bought a Laney tube amp today, but then there's MFX units. I can't make up my mind. I can't afford to make the wrong choice. Maybe I should just stick with what I have (a very popular solid state amp w/lots of effects) and focus on perfecting my skill.

Hi Tim, that's got to be the best showcase for the Tonemaster Pro that I've seen, but I also really welcomed your advice that finding an exciting new piece of gear doesn't suddenly nullify the value of what you were previously getting great results from. I recently bought a NUX MG-30 as an affordable alternative to always carting my amp and pedalboard around, but a big selling point for me was its send/return to allow me to incorporate my existing gear if I want to.

It's really interesting how Tim has a much more positive view of it and thus manages to get impressive tones out of it (decades of recording experience likely help too). I had seen reviews of it previously that bashed on it, but couldn't really point out what's wrong with it ("sounds bad, the UI is weird"). They didn't spend much time with it and were looking for high gain tones. Perhaps Fender's presets were just not to their liking.

While I still love a good old fashioned pedalboard and tube amp, I'm also a big lover of the digital modellers. I've used the Line 6 gear on bar gigs and theatre shows for a few years now off and on with great results. Your video here with the Tone Master is the best one I've seen so far. Why? Because you know what the modelled fx sound like in their analog counterparts. This is why all these presets you have shown sound killer. I truly believe the lack of this type of in depth real world knowledge for many novice players is what discourages them with modellers. They expect great results just by turning the unit on but don't realize some manipulation is required with the fx's, amp & cabinets settings...just like you would with a real pedalboard and amp. Well done Tim!

Okay Tim I get it……..however I am not sure this can scratch my itch when I walk into my studio and plug into my tweed bassman or my twin reverb and watch those red lights come on and start to make those hot tubes sing! It’s a glorious sight and sound that makes me all warm and fuzzy……no pun intended ! Love your channel and those glorious sounds you make. But remember your roots and all the great real tones those old beautiful outdated amps made for us and the pain of lugging them around! 😊❤

Tim, I have played piano since I was six and am a multi-instrument musician. I read music and play by ear. However, I never learned to play the guitar even though I have always wanted to! Will you teach me? I also watch Rick B's channel and really enjoy your guest appearances. Please teach me the guitar!

It does sound great and convincing. Portability is a big factor. Big, bulky, have to crank amps are fun but not practical.
