That's so much like my story. My son is 8 and going to public school, he doesn't need private therapy at the moment (although there's always more you can do), so I've started thinking about my retirement, and financial stability overall. Also seen some Ramsey and couple of other people, I like Financial Diet (led by a woman). Just starting paying off debt (which is not huge, thankfully) and I live in my own house, so I'm focusing on making repairs and upgrading.
I also found a good partner, who is supportive and have good contact with my kid. I don't have any family, so I've relied mostly on myself and now I have someone else to do groceries, or take care of a car, which is amazing. My son started to talk at age 4 and still is a little bit delayed emotionally, but all the therapy and time paid back, I wouldn't do it another way.

Thany you for sharing, i love watching your videos. I am also a single mom of a 7 year old autistic boy. I find your videos inspirational and they give me strength knowing that I'm not alone and there are others going through the same. There are days that are really bad and i feel hopeless but there are also great days. You do such a good job and always look forward to watching y'alls adventures. ❤😊

Congratulations Kaitlyn!! I’ve been following you since the beginning I believe! I appreciate creators like you being “real” and vulnerable. I just got engaged this past weekend. YAY! But we have been together for 3.5 years. I’m on the spectrum. High functioning but life is REALLY hard in certain areas. But I’m also really really strong in others. But we have focused on getting debt free. Which is really difficult when you’re dealing with medical stuff. Idk what my point is here. lol. All I want to say, is you’re doing the dang thing!!! And inspirational! 🙌🏼

Congratulations on getting out of debt! I would love it if when you get there you can share some of the information about what you are doing to set things up for your son later in life. I know Asa has done some videos on it but they are also in a much different financial situation than most.

Well done Kaitlin, an inspiring video, and I'm so glad to know you are debt free. I'm in Europe where we have a different outlook on things, and we don't tend to get into debt as much as in America. I'm not in debt, but am pretty broke, and facing into college fees for my children. Thankfully they are not as high here as in the US, but it is still a big expense, and I wish I had put aside money for that. Unfortunately for many like me in the squeezed middle, you only get to a stage in your career when you make enough money to put some aside by the time your kids have grown, and they need college support. Financial worries are such a burden. You're doing good for yourself and your son Kaitlin, and hopefully I'll get over my pressure patch(es) too. Go us 🙂

I am watching this thinking doesn’t Kaidale’s father contribute? I am glad you are debt free. Did you sell your van? I’m happy to see you are back.

I'm so proud of you and everything you've overcome! I'm also a Dave Ramsey follower. Hubby and I even taught the class twice at our old church. We are debt free and are on our last steps of paying off the mortgage and investing. The feeling of being debt free is amazing! Keep up the awesome work!

Yayyy! I’ve just started a similar journey and have been working on the baby steps as well. Congrats!

  • @sandyseibelhager7131

We also used the baby steps to get out of debt. I took on a part time job as a delivery driver for two years in addition to my part time job. Finished that and then paid off the house. It’s an awesome feeling. Also just bought a car for cash. Unlike Ramsey, I do still use credit cards but I pay them off each month.

My husband and I did the Dave Ramsey class (paid for it back in the day when it was newer and not online but I do watch it to keep up these days). I would love for you to make more videos about your journey. We are in a lot of debt, again (slacked off from the DR method and are autism parents). I know it would be motivating for me. ❤

Great job! I have only seen a couple of your videos so i don't know your situation. But your son HAS a father. You may have let him off the hook but if you are " all your son has" then anything you can do now to secure funds or security in the event you are no longer around is vital. If his father has funds but refuses to help, the courts will help. If he doesnt, maybe a contract that if he obtains them later in life that he is obligated to help his son. This can be a sensitive subject and if your son wasnt special needs, maybe it wouldn't be so much of an issue. You may already be starting to have an idea of how independent your son will be when he is an adult..so use that as your guide for what he may need in the future. But as long as the economy holds you are wwll on your way.
