LOU you will never believe what I am going to tell you : when my uncle went to MEDICAL SCHOOL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT MINNEAPOLIS along time ago he brought with him back to CAIRO exactly the same car and it is still running in the streets of ALEXANDRIA AND CAIRO WERY WELL. My cousin is taking great care of it. It is amazing and a beauty. lots of people in both CAIRO and ALEXANDRIA offered my cousin lots of money to buy , but she always refuse. This car is really very beautiful .They built that model with great care. Thanks LOU for sharing this great video with me. I really appreciate your excellent hard work bringing all kinds of great cars. Please have a great day. Appreciate it very much.
Lou, your comment about the gas tank filler made me smile ! Impala from '58 has crazy, Flash Gordon styling. Jaw-dropping side profile and completely over-the-top ornamentation hark back to an era where the adage "less is more" had not yet been invented...
Definitely the most beautiful Chevy ever built. In 1958 my dad bought a new 58 Belair, I inherited it in 1966 when I got my license at just 16 yrs old. But I always wanted a 58 Impala, so in 1968 my dad spotted one in a guys yard that had an engine bay fire, I bought it for$ 250. With my dad's help we went through the engine and needless to say I was one proud owner, however in 1971 after my son was born some idiot T boned me and totaled my dream car. I really enjoyed this video, it brought back many great memories for me. Mine was powder blue with a white top. It was the best looking car Chevy ever built because it was the only body style of its kind, never duplicated like the tri fives or any of the others. Thanks again guys. Oh yeah, mine had the 348 4 brl which I later added a tri power to.
Hi Trucker Ray, Happy to read this video / car brought back great memories :-) Here is another video I recently produced I think you'll enjoy, Lou th-cam.com/video/paM9ChPIl-k/w-d-xo.html
One of my Aunts drove one of these back in the 60's. Hers was black on black and i tdon't remember the rear fender skirts and definitely not a Continental kit. But I do believe it was an Impala. When she and my mother would go shopping they'd pool their money to put gas in the car. 3 gallons for a quarer! This Sierra Gold is beautiful. Obviously not a stripper... but a beautiful top of the line example. Love it! the interior is great too. Perfect match for the outrageous outside.
Hi Brian, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Aunts car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou P.S. Like this one minus the continental kit? th-cam.com/video/SgxX5y4R5WI/w-d-xo.html
Yes, this colour was available on the 1956 Chevrolet. Fascinating that this was a Canadian car that wasn't rebadged. Continental kit looks smooth of this car & not jutting out like on so many others. Another great review thank you.
Lou Costabile It amazing how many Canadian cars you find - I know your Chi-town location likely helps. I think your channel shows more Cdn market and Cdn built cars than the rest of the channels on TH-cam combined. Thanks again Lou.
Hey Lou, this color on this 58 Chev was so ahead of its time, the sun just brings that classic to Life! Yes sir Lou, continue to locate these gems of art work with wheels, so we can dream of them. God bless you & continue to do the great interviews.🙏🏻❤️✌️💚👍
Hi Gary, Thank you for the blessings, they are well received. Thank you for watching the commercials as that helps me find these "gems of art work with wheels" :-) Lou
@@loucostabile Thanks Lou. I'm too old now but have owned dozens and as l said l'm a Ford guy but it seems like all the '58's were so sharp, especially the GM line. I had a '58 Ford Retractable. Enjoy your videos, thanks, just got on TH-cam.
This is a beautiful example of a '58 Impala. I have to agree that not all cars can carry the continental kit beautifully except this car. The fins carry your eyes to it and away from it and it doesn't hide any of the design cues. It is too bad that it was a one year design but the '59 brought us into the great designs that happened in the '60's.
A really cool car. I have always loved the 58 Chevy. My brother had a 1960 Pontiac Bonneville the same color as this car. He also had a 1974 Pontiac Lemans in the same color. Thanks for sharing your video.

Yes Lou, this car had a lot of firsts. It had a all coil spring suspension, a new model level the Impala and an option most GM cars had that year air suspension which wasn't cheap and had lots of problems. I had a '58 Biscayne, 283 three speed on the column. It was pink metal flake. I couldn't stand it because it was tired, faded and just terrible looking. I went to Earl Schieb and had it painted black.
it always amazed me how a top of the line chevy could wind up being a base model. from 1949 to 1957 the bel air was the top of the line, 1958 to 1964 the impala and 1965 to 1985 the caprice/ caprice classic. from 1972 to 1975 bel air was a base model, 1976 to 1985 the impala and 1986 to 1996 the caprice.

one of the few american vehicles that didn't catch the case of the "uglies" going around in 1958. mercedes made some uncollectible vehicles as the rocket fins came in big and then were attempted to be hidden starting in this year which caused a lot of production designs to seem a little awkward, if not downright objectionable in appearance a matter of months later.. the economical V8 displacement, too!

If I Really got the idea that I Had to have one of these, I would have to BULLDOZE the neighbor's apartment. Yes, it would be great fun, and it Would create a problem ...but then, I would have enough room for my dream Chevy. GREAT ! (- Well, I'll have to think on it.)
Hi JOHNNIE: LORD OF THE MungoidHen PEOPLE, Make sure you contact the call the Electric & Gas Company so you shut of electricity & gas so you don't get shocked or blown up when demolishing a building :-) Lou
Yes, it is always important to consider health and safety. As a big part of my environmental improvement scheme, I will notify the power companies, carefully deport my nuisance neighbors and build a nice level driveway for the new Chevy. Thanks for the good advice = )
You are funny !
Canadian Chevrolets were the same as US versions, our Pontiacs were Chevys under the skin with different names, Dodge did the same thing
Hi gord goodfellow, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
one of the few american vehicles that didn't catch the case of the "uglies" going around in 1958. mercedes made some uncollectible vehicles as the rocket fins came in big and then were attempted to be hidden starting in this year which caused a lot of production designs to seem a little awkward, if not downright objectionable in appearance a matter of months later.. the economical V8 displacement, too!
Hi Scott Brady, Thank you for viewing, sharing your thoughts, and adding to the story, Lou
I love the model and the color, but not so much the interior colors.
Hi musclecarfan74, Happy to read you enjoy the model and color of this car :-) Lou
Jay Leno look-a-like
:-)
Where do these people get their steering wheels rebuilt? New replacements that don't look like a teenage hot rod are seemingly nonexistent.
No idea. Hopefully a Viewer can share knowledge, Lou
No Skirts!
Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many cars on this TH-cam Channel you enjoy.
Junkerup just showed a couple of 59 impala's rotting into the earth. Sad!
:-(
Nice car except for the fender skirts and Continental Kit!
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
I hate the fender skirts and I hate that nasty "Continental Kit"... ruins the lines of the car. Why, oh why must they install these excrescences.
Trev0r98 any car with fender skirts looks classier

@@ronripplinger5235 You're just flat-out wrong.
Those hokey skirts and fender skirts kill it for me! Unnecessary and out of place. I know others would disagree!
Hi Craig Jorgensen, Clearly this car is not for you :-( Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you enjoy :-) Lou
The C kit ruins it!!
I prefer the rear of the car without the continental kit too.
