    My quartz pool is 8 years old and looks bad. I'm about to resurface the pool and this video is super helpful. Thank you so much!

    We chose pebble tec over plaster mainly because of the warranty. I chose a light sand color and now I hate it. I have light decking and the pebble tec just looks bad and it's embarrassing. Is it possible to stain the pebble tec or would I have to have it completely resurfaced?

    Went with Wet Edge Luna Quartz "Mediterranean Blue" eleven years ago when we had our pool built. Cream colored blotches began to appear on the bottom within 6 months. Pool builder (PB) called it efflorescence. After about one year, the pool surface was lighter blue, with lots more blotches. After complaints to the PB, they had Wet Edge people come down to the Houston area to investigate several pools with this same surface and issues. Wet Edge lowered the pH of the water to about 1.0 - very acidic. They then brought the pH back up to neutral (7.0). The color was restored to its original color. But it began to lighten up again within six months. After living with a very light aqua-colored finish, we decided to rejuvenate our pool and decking. This time, we are going with Pebble Sheen.

      Sorry to hear about the frustration with your pool finish. Yes, colored pigments in plaster-type finishes can have cosmetics issues, especially in the darker colors if the water chemistry gets out of balance. Scale buildup can make the pool finish look blotchy. Pebble finishes are much better at camouflaging scale on the pool surface.

    Best information. We love the dark color and have a dark colored quartz plaster, which is peeling off after only 7 years. We live in Texas and the pool gets to be very hot during the summer.

      Thank you for your comment and we are glad you liked the video. Dark finishes do make the water warmer. The other side of that coin is that your swimming season is longer.

      Sabine Thanks for checking in. We are proud of the many unique colors we have available. Happy Summer! Wet Edge Loves Texas.

    Very informative Thank you! Question: I bought my home 4 years ago. The pool was built in 2003, it's a salt pool with a dark bottom. Recently we drained it and had it acid washed by a local pool maintenance company. I did notice the ageing on the pool surface as mentioned in this video, was acid washing the appropriate method to remove calcium buildup and proper maintenance for our pool?

      @WetEdgeTechnologies  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the time acid washing it the appropriate method to "clean up" a pool. What type of pool finish do you have in your pool?

      Thank you so much for responding. Pool builder's invoice and blueprints indicates it's grey plaster. Again, thank you so much for your prompt response.

    We have a 12 x 26 pool with an attached 7ft diameter spa. The pool is 3.5 ft to 5.5 ft deep. We live in SW Florida. Do you consider our pool as a “shallow” pool?

    About to choose my pool color and there is not a lot of information on TH-cam for dark colored pool finishes. My pool builder is recommending NPT and we are looking at the Curacao Night finish. Now I'm worried about the selection. He advised me against pebble tech because he said it will wear down and the aggregate will be rough and snag swimsuits. What to do?

    • @timetraveler1681
      @timetraveler1681 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sea Life the type of finish my pool builder recommended is a quartz finish by NPT. Fingers crossed it turns out well. The pool is the most expensive thing I've purchased in my 44 years on earth! 🤞

      We need to resurface our 15 year deep water pool. It is plaster and white. We live in phoenix and has full sun. We are thinking pebble etc in medium to dark blue. What is your opinion and do have recommended pool people?

  • @Jeninegarcia

    We just re plastered our pool with a dark blue plaster in less than 6 months it was completely white with scale. Apparently the pool maintenance company ruined it by adding too much in chemicals.
    My question is what is a normal timeframe for this to happen? Other than streaks is this normal?

    • @WetEdgeTechnologies
      @WetEdgeTechnologies  ปีที่แล้ว

      Streaking and scaling can happen immediately to a new pool finish. The darker the pigment the more the scale will show. I would suggest contacting Orenda Technologies,www.orendatech.com to help you get your pool looking good. They are experts in water chemistry and they have a wide range of helpful videos.

      Sounds like an improper fire up! That’s what happened to my re-plaster. What a nightmare!

    Tomorrow is the 28th day after the Wet Edge Primera Stone Sapphire Treasure that I splurged on and was put into my new pool. I am so very disappointed as it is very mottled in many places with dark spots and light spots. They came back to try to fix this in the deep end where it was especially light around the two drains and it still just looks horrible. Now that the start up period is over and the surface has supposedly cured, it looks really bad and so inconsistent all over the pool that I am really sorry I went with this product. It looks like a pool surface that needs to be refinished and it is brand new. Is there a Wet Edge technician in my area, San Francisco East Bay, that can look at the surface and offer some advice?

    • @WetEdgeTechnologies
      @WetEdgeTechnologies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Anne, it sounds like you have scale buildup on the surface of the pool finish. Scale buildup can make the pool finish look very blotchy and uneven. Ask your pool contractor to give us a call and we will get them in touch with a technician. He can give them advice on how to remove the scale. Our number is 877-984-4687.

      @@WetEdgeTechnologies Thank you very much for this. I will give this information to my pool contractor. He had a person put acid on it a week ago to try to fix it but unfortunately that didn't work.

      I am wondering if it is possible to hire a WetEdge technician directly to fix this as I am not sure my contractor is going to be the right person to fix this.

    Yes they are. They must be constantly brushed twice a day and the chemicals have to be watched carefully. You can see every piece of gras or dirt or anything laying on top of the water. Constantly have to skim the water so you don't feel like you are swimming in a pond with algae on top. I'd never do it again!

      "Yes they are." ... what is "they"? And.. "They are what?" Sorry, not sure what you're referring to and we're getting our first pool so this might be helpful. Thank you! ;)
