@@saeki_san omg back in 2004-2006 it was all about finishing school, going back home, turn on the pc, log in to msn, open the browser and start watching naruto. Really good times
I love how old PCs used to feel alive, you could feel every single part of its hardware and its speed and sound and everything. That's what made it good. Nowadays we have PCs with 2 seconds of boot time, you can't even get a good look at the booting screen.
I know what you mean but I like my boot times to be fast. But I know what you’re saying. I can’t stand sitting there all day waiting for my pc to work after like seems to be 2 minutes. Glad them times were gone.
Dare I say I used it as a little (and I mean very little) child for a short period of time until it had to be updated to Win 7, however guess what? I'm not even an adult yet, genetically (fully developed and matured brain at 25) and legally (18 in most countries I believe)
I used it in primary school. Our school had a few XP laptops on a big black Styrofoam box, they were all plugged in charging in the corner of the room when not used.
CompUSA was my go to computer parts and upgrades store back in the mid 90s and early 2000s. Got a PC case from there back then, along with three different MSI Intel P4 motherboards and P4 CPUs, a couple ATI All in Wonder graphics cards. That computer setup takes me back to that time. I loved using Windows XP back then. XP was my favorite Windows OS.
One time I got to school and realized it had been canceled that day. I never ran so fast in my life, to come to a setup just like this and play Runescape all day long because nobody was home and usually my screentime was heavily limited. Ahhhhhh memories
I had a very similar setup. Athlon XP 2500+, 512 MB Kingston RAM, 72 GB Seagate HDD, Geforce MX 440(upgraded to FX 5200), Leadtek motherboard, Microsoft kbd/mouse, Creative 4.1 speakers, 56.6 kbps modem. Bought it 20 years ago to the date. Cost about $2300 (Rupees 55000) in 2003. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Bro i have a athlon 64x2 3800 (the first one), 4gb kingston and smart ddr2 ram, 320 gb western digital hdd, nvidia 210 msi, a15g v1.0 usb 2.0 motherboard and hopson speakers, along a crt positivo screen I was going to get win xp to make my dear eleanor more powerful in games but lost my cd, so had to stick in win 7, got her in 2008-6 from a friend in a positivo case, then upgraded to a vcom case I pondered if i should've upgraded to a biostar n68s3b (ddr3), would it be better? What do you think? Also have any idea of what is considered a good setup to record/play simultaneously nowadays?
I was playing Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne and my girlfriend was playing Sims2😅 2004 was the first year I could afford a 15inch LED screen- costed me about two average salaries here in Romania 🇷🇴 😅
back in 2002 I used to go to my dad's office and used to play dos games on windows 95 machine. Beautiful days those were used to play for hours on weekends and painting
This brings some memories of me in the school computer lab learning how to use the pc and paiting things on painting, i was around 6-7 years old in 2004 😊
Only people who had a PC back in the day appreciate having 16GB+ ram and Sata SSD or NVMe drives today. The game has changed and it is massive progress.
I have seen multiple standalone monitors, some of them being LCD. A white flat screen monitor is harder to come across, although I may have seen one online from Gateway in the past. I remember seeing an AOC monitor which was the same color and not a CRT at a friend's house I used to go to; I have not been to that pal's house since 2006.
I had flat AOC too from 2004 - 2009 (not an LCD). Last year I bought a new AOC monitor after almost 2 decades. It has a good value for money - 23,8" AOC 24B2XDA. ❤
I still have my crt positivo screen, it's way more healthy than my lcd/led flat screens and way less beaten up, even after i grew up (it was my first pc screen too), kinda don't have many reasons to change for the flat screens due to this factor Still going strong, gotta use it while i don't fix those two, also is aoc really good? I guess i'll try fiding a better setup, but a black case
Wish I could still use XP today. I hate windows 10 and despise 11. My home pc has 10 and I somehow have managed to get a hang of it. Laptop in my garage still has win 7. And that the next best thing after xp

11:05 as a kid, i rememeber staring at that red moon desert background wallpaper late at night or early in the morning and wondering how many other people in the world were just waking up. Lol for my account on windows xp, i chose that wallpaper, it just speaks to me.
I want the case to that one! I have two of it's big brothers, the full-tower (5x5.25", 1x3.5") versions of that. If I could get the mid-tower (THAT one!) and the mini-tower versions, I would complete the set, for my "Nostalgia Machine" collection.
This certainly takes you back to nostalgia times, can't believe its already 20 years since I was using one, well to be precise stopped using Windows XP in 2016, after it crashed on me and my ip got arrested by the Polish police, so I had to shud down my old pc permanently and aren't even legally allowed to use it.
One of my favorite computer cases... I wish I still had one. Lian Li made some super strong cases that you could literally stand on and it wouldn't dent the steel.
I still remember 🙂 using my desktop like this a huge ibm monitor Consistent (brand) motherboard in CPU and woofer with 2 speaker mouse and everything wired windows xp such a lovely days
ahhh windows xp! those were the days!!! now windows is a huge bloated mess! microsoft really ruined windows in the modern age! gimme dat xp! and 7! those were the best 2 windows versions!
Hard to say, I think NEC has a pretty bright & vivid colors. Also newer 2005 ish black Dell monitor were great 1708fpt were great, have a few of those myself. 😊
Why, I stil have mine but never used them since buying the next gen. I have my first PC a tower from maybe 1993 with a Intel 486DX-33 processor and AOC 17 inch monitor, CRT of course at the time... But 17inch was unusual and big for an affordable price. Since about 2000 only laptops I've been buying and today I have a 2023 Acer Nitro. It's been a long road.
WinXP Service Pack 2 should be updateable to Service Pack 3. The spinning HD could also be upgraded to an SSD, if so desired. May require an IDE to SATA adapter, if the machine has no SATA ports.

@@JeiElRai Good times, but I always used IRC for fansubs.
You remind me of my childhood.
The intro sound when starting Windows XP is very memorable.❤
you know they did make a 64 bit version of xp back then to for the athlon 64's back then
Windows was in its prime here. If I could still use my 20 year old Windows XP machine for day to day tasks, I absolutely would.
If compatability wasn't an issue and Microsoft still supported Windows Xp, I would've loved to downgrade from Windows 10 to Good old Windows XP
I wish to travel back to early 2000s, it was a great time.
Yep, wonder how it felt to watch anime and play games
Bring a 2024 laptop when travelling, you can sale 10m$/ one

You can if you disable Fast-BOOT in BIOS
Remember custom boot screens lol
Don't forget Windows updates on a 5400rpm laptop drive. They took hours from a clean install. I prefer SSD speeds over that 😀
It's amazing to me that we're considered old if we remember this and actually used it. 😂
