@SummitAggregates You are so right,Terex/ Euclid crawlers were much more advanced technology wise than cat or the competition, with features like the isolated final drive which no one else was using at the time.I don't understand why people hate em so much?
Man that 671 (238) SOUNDS DAMN GOOD !!!!!!!!!! I Miss operating a 8230 Terex for that very reason . my granddads had a Carco winch on the back as he did alot of land clearing for right aways on roads, subdivisons, malls, strip malls etc. Used to love hearing that 671 screamin through the woods . i like the 8230B Also but the 8V71 (318) just doesnt have the sound i like near as well as a 671.
great video of a super terex dozer the detroit is screaming away great engine , no terex here where im from , its mainly cat and komatsu ,the terex is equally as good thank you
@schanche1965 And, the two cycle was then, and still today, is the simplest engine ever built, bar none. They all have their problems, but I'm amazed how many smart ass comments go untouched, because no one from that time is still around kickin'(not many anyway)
was thinking that myself, blades always full, never runs a blafefull out till he has to, smoothe on the gear. not backing up any farther than he has too. great operator
@schanche1965 The sad part about your comments, are that it's a world gone by, and no one who really lived then to argue your perspective. And it's too bad too - as the original 20, 30 and 30B, 40, 50, and later D800 gave Cat and Fiat a big run for their money. Still today, these machines can produce right with any comparable dozer, however, they do not meet emissions, and they're not as quiet(though neither are Cat and Fiats of their day)
I know opinions vary, but these old Terex's look like they have more power than the Cats. Never ran the BIG dozers (Biggest one for me was JD 450C) This old beast sure takes down a blade full almost without effort.
Re: schanche19652 years ago They were a pile of shit when new and are still shit today, 2 stroke Detroit Diesel sounds like a normal engine with a con rod hanging out the side of the block SAYS THE 25 YEAR OLD WHO DON'T RUN NOTHIN BUT HIS XBOX IN MOMMYS CELLAR
A mate of mine still has one, and I have been unfortunate to actually be near one when it started up. The old adage that if something looks wrong then it cant be right also applies to how something sounds, these things are truly apalling. The local power station where he bought it for threw it out because it was noisier and more polluting than the power station itself!!! Dreadful heap of junk.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Brings back a lot of good memories.
gotta love the old detroit motors
Detroit Diesel engines are indestructible. Only an idiot could tear it up
no excessive smoke, nice and cosmetically straight - I'm impressed - she's been really well taken care of!

i have a C6 14 litre cummins powerd a 8230 671 gm and a 8230 B 8V 71T a. GM two stroke running right was cleaner than a 68 A D8H
These old beasts could really hog the dirt. The noise though was incredible!
Schönes Video, super Maschinensound, danke!
Take a load half way down, dump it,bring up another and push them both, raw power and experience.

I love the Terex howl!
Not a more beautiful sound, than a Singin Jimmy, unless it's the angels singin!
I ran one in Amarillo. We put an 8v92t in it. That was unstoppable.
@schanche1965 oh so thats why the military used them for all those years, and about half of the trucks on the road till emissions came out?
I love Detroit Diesels and I"m very impressed by some of the comments about them. A 6-71 can match it with a 290 Cummins against a head wind
How about putting a couple of stays on the exhaust pipe. Looks like it,ll eventually break off waggling about like that. Best regards.
Funny thing about theseold girls, they sound like an old pissed off city bus! Lol
it has lots of power!! pushes that U blade pretty good!!!
excellent operator..

magnifique !
gots lots of power!! pushes that U blade pretty good!!!
Got to be a way to quiet those Detroits down, some kind of muffler. Has to be!!!!

VERY GOOOOOOOODDDD!!!
Good gear, but that engine sound would drive me bonkers .
Do they have a "De-cellerator" pedal like the Caterpillars do?
yep
Great video
awesome video
imppressive but drive you crazy that noise
Wow that blade is sensitive up and down.

Boring Detriot diesel

Detriot diesels have to be the ugliest sounding machines ever made
Terex dozers have the most tractable power of their time. Even modern dozers can be hard pressed to hook the power to the ground as well as a terex.
