great video of a super terex dozer the detroit is screaming away great engine , no terex here where im from , its mainly cat and komatsu ,the terex is equally as good thank you
24 are beasts at moving dirt. I would have loved to run a TS24 on this job! would have been kept smooth from top to bottom while hauling 24 yards of dirt at a time.. No caterpillar could have matched the TS24 for amount of dirt per hour or been as fuel efficient!
Many years ago I worked with both TS-24s and 631s. I'll take the 631s for both ease of loading and noise. The Cats moved more dirt than the 24s per size of machine because of their loading ability.
Interesting if watching Aussie or Kiwi scraper operators they carry their bowls low just of the ground, if watching Yank scraper drivers they carry theirs right up high, must be good brakes on Yank scrapers?
I know opinions vary, but these old Terex's look like they have more power than the Cats. Never ran the BIG dozers (Biggest one for me was JD 450C) This old beast sure takes down a blade full almost without effort.
I am down to 5'11" from 6'2" and my back isn't the greatest it's ever been but between running stuff like this I also drove trucks of every type except long haul. It all ties together.
Re: schanche19652 years ago They were a pile of shit when new and are still shit today, 2 stroke Detroit Diesel sounds like a normal engine with a con rod hanging out the side of the block SAYS THE 25 YEAR OLD WHO DON'T RUN NOTHIN BUT HIS XBOX IN MOMMYS CELLAR
Greg lambs Ts14 In this video Was In the classic plant and machinery magazine last year, being a 7uot-61sh It was built in the Usa between 1964 and 1966 which makes It a Euclid built machine rather than a Terex.
Ron Bishop, formerly of Clyde Engineering NZ from 1960 thru(of and on) till 1979 has been in awe of TS14;s since he saw the first one arrive in Wgton destined for John Philp Contractor New Plymouth. Clyde celebrated the sale of the 100th TS14 before the Terex name appeared and the model must have made a lot for many Simple components and a glutton for work. The cabs in the video were initially conceived in Rotorua for machines roading in timber. Big brother TS24 had an awesome noise too!! Great
Hay good vid, Love the TS 14s, used to do alot of work on them when working for T&D. nothing like hearing a lovely screamer kicking the cats arse. I also worked on the only 2 TS 24s in the country, Ross Reids had them at the time then but not were now. they had push pull capability and were amazing the dirt they moved. No dozer invovled. 12v71 in the front and 6v71 in the back. Awsome.
Man that 671 (238) SOUNDS DAMN GOOD !!!!!!!!!! I Miss operating a 8230 Terex for that very reason . my granddads had a Carco winch on the back as he did alot of land clearing for right aways on roads, subdivisons, malls, strip malls etc. Used to love hearing that 671 screamin through the woods . i like the 8230B Also but the 8V71 (318) just doesnt have the sound i like near as well as a 671.
Detroits can burn pure veggie oil, with no problems. Emission problems solved, and anyone who says they are a pile of junk just doesn't know any better. Euclid, and Terex will always be the ones who raised the bar in earthmoving.
I love everything about this comment, and to add too it for those who don't know, terex is Latin for earth king. couldn't think of a more suitable name. gimme a terex or inter over cat komatsu or john Deere with all the mod cons anyday
@SummitAggregates You are so right,Terex/ Euclid crawlers were much more advanced technology wise than cat or the competition, with features like the isolated final drive which no one else was using at the time.I don't understand why people hate em so much?
I ran one in Amarillo. We put an 8v92t in it. That was unstoppable.
Nothing like steaming Detroits !!!
How about putting a couple of stays on the exhaust pipe. Looks like it,ll eventually break off waggling about like that. Best regards.
Got to be a way to quiet those Detroits down, some kind of muffler. Has to be!!!!
Huh I can't hear you! Speak louder?

magnifique !
what a fukin racket !
Dirt
I love Detroit Diesels and I"m very impressed by some of the comments about them. A 6-71 can match it with a 290 Cummins against a head wind
Terex dozers have the most tractable power of their time. Even modern dozers can be hard pressed to hook the power to the ground as well as a terex.
Finish grading? Looks pretty good and fast
imppressive but drive you crazy that noise
Funny thing about theseold girls, they sound like an old pissed off city bus! Lol
Not one but two Detroits screaming
22 or 23 tons and 240hp
Take a load half way down, dump it,bring up another and push them both, raw power and experience.
great video of a super terex dozer the detroit is screaming away great engine , no terex here where im from , its mainly cat and komatsu ,the terex is equally as good thank you
Put lots of hours on a TEREX....Dozer great machine...
Super video. Great camera angle on the operation. Cool seeing these old scrapers at work 👍
Detriot diesels have to be the ugliest sounding machines ever made
Saudade dos maus 18 anos

I love the Terex howl!
Schönes Video, super Maschinensound, danke!
Great machines, drove these on opencast sites in england for Shellabear Price and Murphy bros. super memories.
Not a more beautiful sound, than a Singin Jimmy, unless it's the angels singin!

These old beasts could really hog the dirt. The noise though was incredible!
Good gear, but that engine sound would drive me bonkers .
I absolutely love any euclid or terex dozer.
So do I. They are Mean Green Machines

Do they have a "De-cellerator" pedal like the Caterpillars do?
yep
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Brings back a lot of good memories.
other than making a lot of terrible noise what are they actually dfoing?
Scraping the haul road. You dcan take care 0of one as good as a grader can if you know how.;
Workin up a thirst ....
That too and a case for hearing aids. I ran 14's and 24's and they'll deafen you.
And I'm picking your 2 foot shorter with a serious back issue ...
I am down to 5'11" from 6'2" and my back isn't the greatest it's ever been but between running stuff like this I also drove trucks of every type except long haul. It all ties together.
Wow that blade is sensitive up and down.

Where was this working? I used to operate a 82-40
Boring Detriot diesel

I grew up near a stone quarry that used almost exclusively Euclid equipment. The sound of these screaming Detroits brings back memories.
i have a C6 14 litre cummins powerd a 8230 671 gm and a 8230 B 8V 71T a. GM two stroke running right was cleaner than a 68 A D8H

@schanche1965 oh so thats why the military used them for all those years, and about half of the trucks on the road till emissions came out?
