- Presented in 4K - On Saturday June 15th, 2024, the Cass Scenic Railroad held their annual "Parade of Steam" event, with five of their Shay locomotives being used this year in the event. Thousands of people swarmed the sleepy little town of Cass, West Virginia, to see this unique event. It's not everyday that you can see five unique, century old Shay locomotives all working together!
Shays no. 2, 4, 5, 6, and 11 were utilized this year, putting on quite a show for everyone in attendance! Five different roll bys were done, each one with differences in power and performance, as well as whistles and smoke. Many thanks to the fine, hard working folks at the Cass Scenic Railroad for putting on an event like this for all of us to enjoy!
Also included in the video, is a shot of the newly restored "Greenbrier Express" running between Cass and Durbin, West Virginia. In addition, three shots are also included of the West Virginia Central Railroad's "New Tygart Flyer" with a great looking pair of EMD FP7A locomotives!

Excellent video! Really nice to see "Big 6" running again. Largest 3 truck shay ever built.
Thanks Mike!
Whoever all’s blowing on the whistles on these things knows what they’re doing! Beautiful video!
Thank you all for showing the steam parade.I am watching it for the first time in my life and appreciate the devotion of past engineers.

did you see Jawtooth?
1995: BNSF railroad gets formed.
Wrong Daniel. That wasn't until the end of 1996 when they truly merged.
