Tim took the Takomo 101T Irons and the 201 Irons out to Rusted Rail golf course to compare these sets on the course. 9 holes of golf with each set to see how they perform in the real world.

I would like to see you guys have a high handicap and mid handicap playing the 101, 101ts, 201, and the 301 sets would be fun to see what us mortals can do with each set.

I went from 201s, to now playing 101ts. I needed a little more forgiveness. I'm a 13hcp, Tim is around a 3hcp. They have amazing irons for every skill level. I will definitely try the 201s again.

My ‘get my swing back’ thought is to make sure I feel still and my left shoulder goes down towards the ball on the downswing
Kudos to the Takomo team. Got my 201s at the end of last month and they have not disappointed. I'm getting higher flight and farther distance with my 201s compared to my Taylormade P750s. I also have to give a shoutout to the customer service team. After a hiccup with expectations based off of what the website said, they refunded my shipping and got them out literally a week later. Will be looking to purchase more from them in the future!

Casual golfer, never had a lesson, and hadn't played for like 6 years. Recently fell back in love with Golf and I can't wait to get a set of these. Really appreciate the TH-cam space for getting me back into the game. Wish I could afford to get out on the course more, and gonna have to save up for these but it looks like they're exactly the type of clubs I need. Will be looking to have my whole bag be Takomo, hopefully by then they come out with the putter!
Recently turned 40, but got the 101’s this year. Playing the best I’ve ever played. I just love them. I really need some that are more upright. Probably 2 degrees because I keep digging the toe .
Am gonna be 68 ,Old Ball Player , never played till I was 44 ,took 6 months to break 90 and 5 years to break 80 Shot 71 -1 under last Friday white Tees my low round is 69 with my 101’s that I bought to be my back up clubs to my King Cobra Forged TEC which are great Clubs but have used my Takomo’s as primary Set ! Just So Good !
Short term memory. And finding my happy place. Played today. Chuncked my first wedge shot 10 yards, stepped up same club holed out.
I’ve played the 201s for almost a year now. They are so good! Just took 2nd place in my first ever match play tournament in my men’s association. The beveled leading edge was one of the first things I noticed right off the bat. The club glides through the turf easier and doesn’t dig. I agree that these are the most slept on model of the lineup. As the Busta Jack boys would say, “Go getcha some!”
just got a set of the 201s last week.. after doing a lil photoshoot of them I took them out for a few rounds already. Absolutely love them. was playing some game improvement irons but, out grew them. The feel of these 201's are just so amazing. don't know if it is just the "new club smell" or what. but have shaved a couple strokes already. just because these things are so true and I'm not pulling everything left since there isn't as much offset. Love what y'all are doing in the golf space.

Thats wild, when I get the shanks it always shows up on course with a wedge in my hand too! I thought I just sucked. LOL. Good to know I'm not alone.
I love my 201s. I’ve been playing with them for about a few months about 20 rounds. It just fits me much better than my previous T300 (2021 model) from TItliest. Stopping power on these are simply amazing, the pitch marks from these irons including the long irons are usually within 3-6 feet from where balls stop. As a result I’m hitting more greens.

My most helpful swing thought is "stop thinking so much and just hit the damn ball!"
But when I do need a second helpful thought, I try to think of my backswing as rotating around my right foot (I'm a righty,) then on follow through, let my hands fall straight down and my hips rotate around my left leg & open towards the target. That seems to get my on plane and coming through solidly.

I play about a mid handicap and started to use the 201s with a Lite stiff Flex with Oversized grips and I have played my best game so far with them, I also own the 101t and I can hands down say the 201s feel so much softer, I have also played the 101 but the 101t and 201 have worked with me better. These clubs have been a great experience, I had the P790s in the bag but have swapped them out with the 201s 🙌

My 201s just feel so good. Having the lil bit extra forgivness helped my game so much 🙌 i had Miura Blades and they are very hard to hit good consistently

Tim, great job showing the differences between these clubs. I've been on the fence about the 201's for quite some time, and I think you convinced me to try them! (I've been playing the 301 combo set but just not that good of ball striker)
My swing thought to fix the mid round crisis is a little more weight on my lead side, don't make as big of turn, and compress the crap out of the ball 😂, with a smooth swing, it usually starts working it out pretty quick.
Also, I LOVE BRIGHT COLORED GOLF POLOS, I need one of those to represent the company!

I game the 201s, and they are the best irons I have ever played. They are long, straight, and forgiving. I am an 18 handicap and they work great for me. More people should give them a try.
Your short game is truly incredible. The 201s interest me more. I have the P770s, and like them quite a bit, but a 1 piece forged iron with a little more precision might be a good shift for my next set.

I’m a former mini tour guy play to a +3 and just ordered 201
My swing correction thought is "Swing smooth" self-talk. Most of my poorer shots come from snatching at the ball or trying to smash it. Breathe in on the backswing and exhale on the downswing.

Especially when tired my swing thought is to swing smooth and easy, I tend try to force things when tired which I end up fatting 99% of the times. I know the 101ts will come in handy for those moments
Just got 201’s shipped to Ohio love them so far more consistent on the distances and not so hot off the face like my cast hot metals. wanted to upgrade to a players iron versus game improvement and it Was hard to choose shaft but I thought do I wanna play a whole round with my wedge swinging weight… Nope, so that’s why I got tour lite stiff … give them a try there awesome!
My swing thought when i am out of rhythm is IPA please lol. I truly love the game and am not great at it but it sure does feel great when stripping one down the middle. Love the Videos Tim. :)

I feel you with the s*******s with the wedges. I have to psychologically and physically close the toe on my wedges anymore. It's a terrible feeling
Takomo for life, at 66 I'd still welcome that.
201 I have a set they are fantastic . I’ve had them for 9 months. 6 months in and I won my clubs handicap championship . Never been close before . I use to play Mizuno MP15 irons they say nothing feels like a mizuno. My opinion Takomo 201’s feel better.

I always like to think “Freddy Couples”. my tempo always seems to get too quick in transition from the top to my downswing. This just helps me smooth out when I know I’m getting fast.
I am having a big debate between 101 and 101T. Mid handicap and feel like 101T are more fitting. But turning 40 and swing likely to slow down as I go. What do you think?
If I'm having poor contact days, my only swing thought is to properly shift my weight. I would be willing to bet 9 out of 10 people hitting fat or thin shots are having weight shift issues. Period. Once I work that thought into my swing, it's night and day. 8.9 hc and rapidly dropping 😀
I'd like to see a set mixed in with wedges. I use hybrids, I don't use 4, 5, and 6 irons. I'd love to be able to get a 7, 8, 9, PW, with 3 wedges. My ego's fine with that.

I really want to be a customer and buy a set - just don't know which one to buy as I can't physically look a them. I have a seen a few posts online about the 201's setting up with a load of funky angles and offset - just not sure I can live with it. Sadly I might hve to go and get fit and spend 1 million bucks instead 😮💨

Swing thoughts when things go bad, I go back to the basics (tempo, alignment) and if that doesn’t work there’s alway next round of 🍺.
