Never noticed until now but there's a notable difference in the sound they each make when they start the race; Clark makes a typical super-speed whooshing sound but Bart makes much more thunderous sound akin to a sonic boom because he's literally breaking the sound barrier just by kicking off, this is by the most accurate representation of the speed difference between Superman and the Flash

This show was absolutely epic. Despite some hiccups, truly a testament to the life of Superman before he was, and a major shot of nostalgia for those who watched Tom go through the years of being Clark!
Now this is actually accurate. In the movies and the cw show, they make it so Superman is as fast as the flash, when he doesn’t even come close. It really takes away from the flash if he isn’t the fastest because that’s all he has. Superman already has dozens of other powers

Just a brillant scene. How smallville did what it did from season 1 to 4, I'll never know. It had a magic that no other show ever captured. It never needed horror, gratuitous voilence or sex scenes, it was pure and innocent, beautifully set and edited. Those first seasons were simply a masterpiece in my opnion. Even Kristin Kreuk that palyed Lana, said in Rosembaums podcast that there are two smallville shows, the first seasons then the last half was a differnt show. She was absolutely right
A lot of people like to blame Erica Durance for that, saying Lois should never have entered Clark's life at that point. But I think what the writers were trying to do in the later years, was show Clark as a grown man, problems and all. He couldn't remain an idealistic teenager forever.
Crazy to think Bart running backwards was still faster than Clark running forwards. This illustrated the pure greatness of the Flash with his only ability. Even Superman was in awe and there was nothing he could do but admire his friend. The music was so fitting for this scene. Simply amazing show.
My heart hurts so much seeing Smallville again. Reminded me of all the times I watched it with my mom and now I can't anymore, I have all of the seasons on DVD but I can't look at them so I packed them away. Perhaps one day I can look at them without crying like a child, but today is not that day.

Funny to see Clark realize that Bart was actually holding back his speed throughout their runs together earlier in the episode so that Clark could keep up.

I truly love this scene so fucking much. Clark lives his life up until now holding back so much and still winning. When he can finally go all out and use his powers to the max, he loses. I think he needed this.
Maybe I'm just overwhelmed by the nostalgia but when Bart turns around at 1:56 and you see that lightning bolt, it's like the show was reminding both the audience and Clark just who he'd grow up to be, then he proceeded to hit that super cruise speed. God I loved this show!

@@vertx_7068 Seems a lot of people make this mistake. I'm not a huge comics reader, so I made the same mistake when the show was still in production. I just figured Impulse was the name they gave him due to copyrights (like how they couldn't use the name Superman). I also figured that's why he was Bart Allen instead of Barry. Later I learned that Impulse is an actual character, and their are multiple Flashes. That cleared up everything for me, especially why he wasn't a 6 foot bean pole.

This scene is recommended by youtube every now and then and it never gets old, is so amazing in so many level. I love how bart shows at the end how he was not using his real power all along, and how Clark and Bart becomes friends, he was really the first true friend of Clark, what a scene... the music, everything on it is perfect.

Ive started watching Smallville because i had never watched it before, and man, this episode hit me hard. It's so good. To see Clark bonding with Bart, embracing his powers for fun and actually finding a friend he can be truly open with, and Bart finally having a true friend of his own. You can tell he's just so happy to have someone he can rely on. That last look they share before Bart speeds off says so much more than dialogue alone can convey I know Bart doesn't appear much after this and that's a shame. They had a great friendship, and i wish that could have been explored more. Such a great ending too. Just two superpowered kids having a fun little race

I love how Bart is able to spin around and run backwards as Clark is literally giving it his all just to keep up with him, right before he just flies out of sight. Everyone thought Clark was fast up until this scene lol. This is honestly one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, and it's tied for first place for my favorite episode ending, with the scene of Lex walking down the 33.1 hallway to AFI's Prelude 12/21 in season 6. Smallville always chose the perfect music for the situation.
This scene always gave me chills, I love the moment where Barry (Edit: It's Bart, not Barry) takes off, leaving Clark for dust. I come back and watch this video every now and then to get those chills again. But now... now I've read the comments...
This race between Barry and Clark was amazing back in the day (still is), probably one of the few examples at the time of a superhero mashup outside of the X-Men and the later Avengers / Justice League films. This was a big moment. A young Superman getting absolutely dusted by a young Flash.
I'm also rewatching all 10 seasons right now in 2020 and there's some things I forgot about each episode and some things I remember from each episode like for instance that one fireman that turns into that Kryptonian devil.

Just a brillant scene. How smallville did what it did from season 1 to 4, I'll never know. It had a magic that no other show ever captured.
It never needed horror, gratuitous voilence or sex scenes, it was pure and innocent, beautifully set and edited. Those first seasons were simply a masterpiece in my opnion.
Even Kristin Kreuk that palyed Lana, said in Rosembaums podcast that there are two smallville shows, the first seasons then the last half was a differnt show. She was absolutely right
A lot of people like to blame Erica Durance for that, saying Lois should never have entered Clark's life at that point. But I think what the writers were trying to do in the later years, was show Clark as a grown man, problems and all. He couldn't remain an idealistic teenager forever.

Crazy to think Bart running backwards was still faster than Clark running forwards. This illustrated the pure greatness of the Flash with his only ability. Even Superman was in awe and there was nothing he could do but admire his friend. The music was so fitting for this scene. Simply amazing show.

@@vertx_7068 Seems a lot of people make this mistake. I'm not a huge comics reader, so I made the same mistake when the show was still in production. I just figured Impulse was the name they gave him due to copyrights (like how they couldn't use the name Superman). I also figured that's why he was Bart Allen instead of Barry.
Later I learned that Impulse is an actual character, and their are multiple Flashes.
That cleared up everything for me, especially why he wasn't a 6 foot bean pole.

Ive started watching Smallville because i had never watched it before, and man, this episode hit me hard. It's so good. To see Clark bonding with Bart, embracing his powers for fun and actually finding a friend he can be truly open with, and Bart finally having a true friend of his own. You can tell he's just so happy to have someone he can rely on. That last look they share before Bart speeds off says so much more than dialogue alone can convey
I know Bart doesn't appear much after this and that's a shame. They had a great friendship, and i wish that could have been explored more. Such a great ending too. Just two superpowered kids having a fun little race
Bless you bud, it's nice to see you enjoying Smallville for what it's worth Bart does appear again after this episode though very rarely. One thing I think you probably will end up loving is Season 6 that's when DC really started throwing in their casts and they do it so damn well.

I love how Bart is able to spin around and run backwards as Clark is literally giving it his all just to keep up with him, right before he just flies out of sight. Everyone thought Clark was fast up until this scene lol. This is honestly one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, and it's tied for first place for my favorite episode ending, with the scene of Lex walking down the 33.1 hallway to AFI's Prelude 12/21 in season 6. Smallville always chose the perfect music for the situation.
This scene always gave me chills, I love the moment where Barry (Edit: It's Bart, not Barry) takes off, leaving Clark for dust. I come back and watch this video every now and then to get those chills again.
