    I’ve got a 2000 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner SR5 TRD Off Road Package with a V6.
    I’m having the same issue. Your video reminded me of the Brake Fluid Level which was under the Max Level so I added DOT3 Brake Fluid to reach the Max Level.
    Turned the truck on and ensured the Emergency Brake Level was turned off. Yet my Brake Light is still on in the dash.
    What else could be causing it? What should I be looking for or checking? Thanks in advance.

    I had this exact problem. My fluid level was above minimum, but below maximum. I filled it up to max and voilà! The light stayed off! Thank you!

    Awesome - replaced rotors, brake pads, bled system but did not top up reservoir enough. Wondered what went wrong because brake light came on and stayed on. Watched your video and problem solved.

    Just curious. Before you poured the brake fluid, you mentioned before testing sensor connection. If topping of brake fluid didnt resolve it, what would have been your next step? How would you have tested the sensor?

    Great job with this video - simple, clear, and most importantly it's correct. Thanks!

    I did this on my 2001 Tacoma. Worked. Thank you. I think I overfilled too much. Oh well

    The fluid was at minimum, added a bit, wallah, light went off..I didn't know low fluid triggered the brake service light..I can only imagine the " brake job" my local garage would of told me it needed..TYVM for your video..

    I have a 2002 manual transmission Tacoma 2.4l standard cab. Reservoir is full of fluid. After starting and releasing parking break, the light goes off appropriately. Within a few seconds, the parking brake handle wiggles back out 1/2 inch, causing the switch button under the dash to extend out, turning on the red brake light. I need to take up that slack in the cable. Do I do that by tightening the cable under the bed where it joins the parking brake actuator arm before it splits to the two rear wheels?

    I have a Tacoma and had an intermittent brake warning light. Watched video. Added fluid. Fixed!!! Thank-you!

    My 04 Tacoma has had this issue for a bit. The light would stay on despite completely disengaging the E brake. Recently it started staying on then randomly going off at times and then started flashed on when I pressed the break pedal. Checked the brake fluid level and it's above minimum but below maximum so I will try this and see what happens. Great video 👍

    Thank you so much for helping me!!!!! I have a 1995 Toyota T100 that had a brake warning light that would come on. You said to add brake fluid. My fluid level was just under full level. Like you, I added fluid just above the full level and it corrected the problem!! I just spent a ton of money on this truck last month and you helping me came at a wonderful time. I said no way adding a little bit of fluid would help but it did. By the way, I am German-American and have many relatives in Germany. My brother lived there for forty years!! My father spoke to me in German all my life!!

    My 2004 tundra brake lights won't work?
    Fuses changed: yes.
    Brake switch replaced: yes.
    Its either a ground problem, or frayed wire.

    What would you if it was the parking brake that was causing the problem? Thanks. I have that same problem, but mines is the parking brake won't completely seat.

    I’ve been driving around with that light on for a long time now, and so I finally decided that today was the day to address it. I thought it was going to be a cable or something more involved, but it ended up just being low on fluid!?!? Poured in some DOT3 brake fluid and the light is gone!! Thank you 👍

    So if i top off the reservoir and still have the light, it's the level sensor?

      I should add - like a lot of the guys my fluid was at Minimum - Not sure what Minimum means on a Tacoma but it doesn't mean enough that's for sure.

    Where did the brake fluid go ? brake cylinder leak, master cylinder leaking into the brake booster ?

    • @genericusername1365
      @genericusername1365 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As the brake pads/shoes wear, the caliper piston properly sticks farther out of it's bore, so there is additional brake fluid used to cause that to happen, which is why the level goes down. When the pads are replaced, the mechanic then compresses the cylinder all the way back into its bore, which will cause the fluid level to rise. But yes, in some circumstances a leak in the system will cause the level to be low.

    I have a problem with my Tacoma, it turns on and stays on in idle, but as soon as I put it in any gear it shuts off, my dashboard shows the ebrake is on and it doesn’t turn off. Could it be the ebrake ? Or is it the transmission?

    • @katfancey1113

      Pull the center console. Look and see if the little button has rotated. The parking brake lever should press the button when not engaged.

    You should of check for leaks because if it's the cause the light will come back on.

      This is the first thing I thought when he ended the video, I thought he was going to say “the light is out.......BUT let’s have a look to see WHY the level went from Max to min”.
      It’s a sealed unit and shouldn’t drop so drastically unless there’s a leak

    • @TheRogerKyle
      @TheRogerKyle ปีที่แล้ว

      That minimal level drop would point directly to brake wear
      .

    Thank you, you saved the day! 2004 Tacoma - I checked the brake fluid, it was at MIN so I moved on. Greased the brake cable and replaced the stoplight switch. With the light still on I Googled "2004 tacoma brake light always on" and yours was one of the top hits. Sure enough, all I had to do was fill it to MAX and the light went out!! Thanks SO much!
