      @@Sharivari You could also experiment a side by side view with the GoPro POV on the right and a zoomed top view on the left it would turn out pretty sick I think :) keep up your great work!

    Love that you keep in the missed shots as a reminder of just how difficult this shot is. When you see videos where it's always a make, it's frustrating when you're missing during practice.

    Super Geil video. You're one of the best along with Niels Feijen!
    And thanks for keeping in the missed shots.. No one is perfect.
    Happy Holidays to you and yours. Greetings from Denmark.

    I like showing people the spin by hand, just like you did in the beginning of the video.👍
    *Also, with the ball off the rail, people should know that the right spin actually "straightens out" the shot.

    • @karolpahulak
      @karolpahulak หลายเดือนก่อน

      What did you mean by straightening out?

    • @Sharivari
      @Sharivari  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It grabs and throws the ball to the left (away from the rail). It’s called spin induced throw.

    Great instructional lesson S, very informative! I've scratched in the opposite corner pocket playing this shot more times than I'd like to admit 😂
    I'd like to see you go over something very similar, if you haven't already. The same type of shot but where the cue ball is about 1"-1.5" from the rail. I have trouble pocketing that one consistently and accurately determining speed and contact point.

    🎱 Thanks for showing the misses. I think it's important to know these aren't sure things and you have to weigh the consequences of missing.

    Excellent lesson 👍🏻👍🏻
    Great use of shot demo and explanation so we know what the good shot looks like and how to recognize how to adjust when we miss. 🎱
    PS: A split screen or repeat of shot from overhead and go pro definitely gets two thumbs up from me.

    The TH-cam channel Pocketed! showed a method for aiming from Earl Strickland. Using high running english, aim your cue at the center of the object ball. Works great.

    Putting aside position for the next ball, I can easier make the ball using outside spin. In this case object ball gets the spin which makes it rolling along the rail. Really I cannot understand the shot with inside spin. It is difficult for me now. I must practice that one.

      Not a lot in terms of aiming, but how much of a miss-hit the pocket accepts.

    Frozen balls are quite easy for me. The tricky shots are the ones next to the rail but not contacting. When the balls are frozen it's easy because the rail acts sort of a like a guide for the ball.

    I was under the premise that if you hit the OB and the rail at the same time, that the QB would cause the OB to be thrown into the rail because of CIT. Case in point. If you freeze two balls together and freeze both to the rail to make it look like an easy combo down the rail, and you hit first one, which represents the ghost QB, dead center square from let's say 35*, your OB ball that is going toward the pocket will be thrown away from it. I have set up the same shot but with a credit card thickness of separation between them. This way when I strike the first ball, it compresses into the rail before contacting the ball toward the pocket. it is the same when cutting a little more because of CIT on the open table. This is using no side spin. "Reference": Byrne's Standard Book of Pool and Billiards page 26 and 25 in that order. It does work the way you explain it when OB is closer to the pocket though. I do love your videos and what you do on bringing out information and techniques toward the pool and billiard community both novice and professional alike. I have been a subscriber for a long time, and I do not see myself changing at all.

    At the 11:00 ish mark, could you slow roll the 2 and shoot the 3 from the short side, or would that still end as badly?

    • @Sharivari
      @Sharivari  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@Gradam88 It's a valid option, but I don't like shooting along the rail when a side pocket is on the way. The point could easily interfere. Depends a bit on the table.

    Hi Shaivari! I just discovered your channel and loving it. I was discussing pool with a friend and your explanations were immediately relevant to what we were talking about.
    One thing I notice is you talk about "soft" speed, but as I was learning, I learned "pocket" speed: the speed at which the pocket is most likely to "accept" the object ball. That seems like the biggest thing I would ever so slightly disagree with your terminology on. Too soft and it won't get there, even to the the curved pockets. Too hard and it will jump over the curved pocked and kick off the lip.
    Do you have any thoughts on "soft speed" vs "pocket speed" and the best application of each?
    Thanks for the cool videos. New fan : )

    I noticed that where you strike through the cue ball compared to where your tip is during your pre-shot are different. When you strike through the cue ball, your cue tends to flare out and you don't hit the ball exactly where you place your tip during your pre-shot stroke. Is this an error or is this intentional? Or maybe camera angle?

    Can you not use that fisheye lens? It distorts how high or low you use english. When you use left english only, it looks like you're using high left instead of just left.

    I feel like this shot is hard since I don't have a cue and always have to use a house cue, it's hard to adjust the aiming point each time.
