We can't believe you got that trailer up that damn DRIVEWAY!!!! Holy moly!
😉👍
Love it “ that’s why I have an off grid man”. Too funny!
I say you spend a bit over 1,000. You guys did well it looks like with your lumber cost Sounds like your planed cabin is going to be very nice and comfy. I am amazed you hauled all that lumber up your hill now that is a good truck and great driver. ! Beautiful spot to build this wee cabin amongst the trees . You folks are very helpful in showing us how you do things with builds and whatever and not have to spend a fortune doing it, Thanks . " Deck out back Yes agree Jen it would be lovely.
I subscribed about a week ago, I've been watching quite a bit from your channel. Great work you two! I'm also from Michigan, and I don't believe you are too awfully far from me. I'll keep watching and I hope both of you keep on keeping on!!!😊😊😊
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Great start of the "WE SHED"❤❤❤❤❤
Love and enjoy your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and Jen on the homestead
Thank you for the kinds words
Yeehaw So looking forward to this!! Love your alls positive vibes always❤😊😊
You guys don't mess around! Glad you're keeping track of the costs, it'll be interesting to see what the final price is. I think you should still build that treehouse though! 😜Great job guys, looking forward to the next one. 🍁
Looking forward to this build and love the deck idea am looking forward to seeing you both sitting there with a lovely cold 🍻! Xxx
Woot woot
Off to a killer start.. the base looks solid
Thanks :D
Awesome! I will be building something similar soon! The cost is nice that you are doing, but I would suggest at some point give a material list. That way in a few years the video will still be somewhat relevant. The prices will change, but the build list wont.
the 10X10 would be perfect for my lawn and garden stuff and free up a lot of real-estate in my shop. my budget is way under 2000 though, i need to get that down to 150 bucks so i'm leaning towards a hand hewn timber frame, Douglas fir with a tin roof.
Hey J&J, it's been a while. You two are almost at 53k subs!! Wow!! So happy for you!! I'll be binging some recent episodes. Much love! (formally Disc Golf Beer). ❤🍻
Hey hey buddy.....glad to have ya back and thanks for letting us know....as the name changes can throw us for a loop 😊. Hope you are well my friend
Looking forward to your new build. Good luck.
Love the build!❤🐾🐾
Great teamwork!! Way to go
Nice start and I like the idea of the deck!
Hi can’t wait for the new videos xx❤❤❤
Great..another project! Will be here watching!
Hello Jay and Jen, I like how you're staring out building your Cabin Can't wait to see it when it as I watch it being build
This is the day that I have been waiting for, yay!! I cannot wait to see what you guys are going to do. Now I'm going to sit back and watch this video and enjoy. Have a blessed day you guys.
Good start guy's 👏. Also was good to show the going prices for similar designs and their build quality or lack of. I know you won't fall through your floor that you build.
I think a tree house would be awesome 👍👍👍👍
Looking good 👍💪👍💪
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Love the channel. I'm subscribed. Best content on TH-cam. I'm a midcoast maine boy myself. 55 years old and I love doing all the things that you guys are doing. Can't wait for some trapping videos maybe this winter.
You have a huge FAMILY around you. You are a blessed man. People love this because you guys are so real and salt of the earth. Amen to you and Donnie. Love it. Keep going brother. 👍
Thanks Jay and Jen 👍🏻 Hope you're doing well my friends 😊 Stay safe and take care 🙏🏻God Bless 🫶🏻 Appreciate you always!
One of the things I do with the posts in the ground, … I use the national electric code and set the post on some gravel and pack gravel all around it and NOT use concrete…Why do they do this? It makes the posts to not rot so quickly… even being pressure treated. Concrete makes the water (that will get in between the wood and concrete) rot the wood, as it soaks into it. Gravel makes and allows the water drain away from the post, under the ground. pat
Lol Jen. I used to be terrified of driving with the trailer on. I'm OK with it now as long as I'm in no position to have to backup. THEN I panic! 😅 - Loretta (obviously...lol) Thank goodness for our Jason's! Jason will watch later. We've been busy working on the house. I think you paid $3000+✌️🇨🇦🇺🇸❤️
Jason's are the best.

@@OffgridwithJayandJen sorry not sure why my comment is duplicated. Happened on another channel today. Weird!
Looks awesome!!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Off to a good start.
I did not realize how steep your driveway hill way. WOW !! I really like the idea of a deck off the cabin on the tree side. The cabin will be very useful for storage and as a wash house. {that's what Granny would have called it}
I've really enjoyed watching your videos. They are an enjoyable mix of information and entertainment. I hope I don't sound disrespectful, but Jay's red hair and speech pattern always remind me of the Apparently kid meme, lol.
I guess an arm and a leg! That's a lot of wood! 👍
Good luck it's to hot outside to work. It's going to be very nice guys .stay cool have a cold one. You well need it. ❤❤. P.s good enough for the bush. 😂
Going to be a good build. I want to build me a tiny house on a trailer. ❤
Awesome you two! looking forward to the build.
That would was more expensive than I thought, lol!! Before Bidenomics came around, you could have gotten it for about $500. Anyway, I'm surprised you didn't burn the bottoms of the posts that you put in the ground when the old posts you did that.
They are pressure treated and groundtreated. Charring them would be counterproductive.
Good job guys
Your idear is brilliant for a decking. but i would do the decking on both sides of the high sides. so you have to views. away from the house. with the decking a small roof over it. also need a wood burner in there 2. take care phil
😊👍
Save big money at Menards. Make sure you cash in the 11% rebate. Get a little bit more to use for the next build. I’m guessing about $900 for all the supplies. I get a lot of my building materials from Menards and cash in on every 11% rebate that I can. I use it all to buy materials for the cabin build up north in the UP.
Ya we love memards very happy there is one closer to the cabin now than before. Easier to drive a half hour into town than over an hour away.
@@OffgridwithJayandJen
I love Menards too! Awesome that they opened up the store in Gaylord a few months ago!
You doing a lofted roof would be great!
My guess was pretty close. I have an unfair advantage when it comes to estimating lumber prices because I’m a carpenter. 😀
So nice to hear Jason excited about a project again & Jen gets her treehouse/ she shed !Yay🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Lots of love Laura
Hoping to learn
Thank you guys
Nice Job and good comparisons. Everything is SO expensive these days!
Ya buddy.....prices are crazy. Nice seeing ya at the live tonight. Woot woot
Cannot wait to see the “ Tree house “ sounds awesome 👏
So far, what I love is the location. Very pretty spot!!
$1,500.00??? I like the overhead small windows in the front for sure gives it a slick look. Take into consideration on the pitch of your roof for snow??? Exciting Jay and Jen LOVE IT!!! YIPPEE and God Bless you all.
Living my dream!
I'm looking forward to following along. Love the channel. My guess 658.00
Ooh this is exciting guys, not only is your build going to be cheaper, it’s also going to be stronger and better than the ones you showed us, l always love watching you two building something, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Look forward to seeing the build - really anxious for the part overlooking the trees. Really enjoy your videos. From Texas!!
Best wishes
Aww, I just missed you guys at those 2 stores over the weekend. I started building my own cabin house 2 months ago out there on some property where I'll be living full time. Thanks for the inspiration and laughs. I rewatched your old roof videos...yes the roof has been the scary part
This is awesome buddy.....good work. Happy to hear you're living the dream too
It's going to be fast and it's going to Amazing!..lol .I had to
I'm proud of u guys. You're definitely hard workers.
Looks like a good start. Can’t wait to see the rest.
I love your energy. You go guys!
Can't wait to see how this turns out. Off to a good start.

My wife and I like your channel Love your license plate
I so enjoy your videos! I’ve been watching since you began the cabin and have lived vicariously through your work and accomplishments. I would have loved doing what you’re doing…. I’d NEVER come off the place, as long as Amazon delivers to my address 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
Jen, you know it’s your She Shed!😍🇨🇦
Love, love, love the license plate 😁

Oh Ya....Already beat up my white ram for 5 years. Trying to be a bit better to old blue
Nice "she shed" Jen.
😊😊
I am new here, and I like your content.
Welcome Debbie.....glad to have ya and glad you like our style 😎
Great price for your lumber, I was off on my price by 250.00.
Love this idea 💡
Great job
Cheers
Awesome 😊🙏👍❤️
Thats funny - I have the same outside workbench - LOL
😊 what a coincidence, ha ha
Unlevel ground? Anyway, it will be a beautiful place to put a building!❤
We wanted it to hang over the hills a bit.
How exciting! What size is it?
you should wrap the bottom of 6x6 with metal so soil doesn't come in contact with post that's where it rots the fastest
Wrapping with metal will hold moisture between metal and wood.
@@featheredcoyote5477 you are wrong the reason for the metal is because what rots is the mixture of air and moisture at the base remove a fence post after couple years and what is rotting the base of the post where it touches soil
@@billsmith-wq5or And you think a piece of metal wrapping the bottom portion of a wooden post that's set in soil won't rot?
For me, pour concrete and use a metal U bracket that is set into the concrete but above the soil. The bracket is bolted to the post or column. That's how I prefer.
@@featheredcoyote5477 absolutely with out doubt been doing it for years maybe you should goggle it if you have some doubt
Muskegon dude approved !
build a wrap around deck on it
I'm thinking somewhere around $500 for all that lumber and supplies.
Dormers aren't that complicated Jay, you got this let that extra light in!!
I'm going with $1400. How did you get the post cuts so straight? Ever time I try to on 6×6 pt the lines never meet up that good.
That how my daddy got alot of his tools.
You spent 400 more than what I guessed. But then what do I know - obviously!🤪😍🇨🇦😍🇨🇦
Great show guys, we are doing the same thing as you are down here in Kentucky. One quick question, where did you find your IBC tote cover? I see your link for the adapter and fittings but not the covers, thanks guys
We got those off temu, they were much cheaper there than Amazon. The quality is great too held up well for a year now
@OffgridwithJayandJen ok, I seen them on temu but I wasn't sure if you guys got a better deal somewhere else....thanks and keep up the good work
Nice idea, but my brother used pressure treated boards right in the dirt and they ended up rotting off.
It always much better to build it yourself.. If you buy one your paying for materials, plus labor that double the price...
