@@kylebrooks6682 just took my buttery ass 13 year old 323 with 195km out for a few good pulls.. happy grin on my face the entire ride : ) keep telling yourself that lol
I went from a 98 Lexus es300 and just recently bought an 08 335i sedan with the sports package for 14k and its worth every single penny, its a blast to drive, looks sexy and puts a smile on my face everyday
I own an e90 328i. It is absolute perfection. That’s the only way to describe it. The way it hugs every corner, the way it sounds and feels under hard acceleration, and the way it brakes so smoothly...... It’s a love affair.
I think people have trouble with the earlier models, 2011 was the last year for this generation...everything should've been worked out by then. But, 2011 is not $7k...
I definitely agree on this being the best bang for the buck under $10k. Not only is it less expensive then the E90 335i, but you avoid the Turbo, Injector, Fuel Pump, Intake, and other know issues with the N54 engine. (Though they are a major hoot to drive). I think a great combo for longevity is this E90 + N52B30 + 6MT + RWD. A lot less to go wrong w/o the Auto transmission, AWD, or a turbo. Also, a model with all the options will not be that much different in price now than a base model. (sport suspension / seats / steering + comfort upgrades )
Crankshaft Motors I own a 06' 330i 6mt rwd. Bought it with 66k and now has 149,000miles on it. Head gasket cover about the most expensive thing I've changed around 130,000mikes. other than that smooth engine, Hoping to DD it until 2019. Unless a turbo comes out for the n52 lol
Completely agree - having owned a car with the n54 engine, it was fast and fun but incredibly complex and expensive to maintain. Traded it a couple of years ago for a n52 car - yes it is slower but much more reliable, much less complex, easy to work on and still a blast to drive.
Just bought a 1 owner (woman in her 50's) 2008 328xi 6spd Manual with 80k miles on it and all service history done at BMW........and I am in love with this car! Hope it lasts me many years!
I got a 2010 e92 328i hardtop convertible with 113k miles for 11k. Squeaky clean title with 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. You just gotta be patient and you'll find great deals. 200k miles for 8k is extremely expensive.
I hear ya, but we live in a world of 700hp 4 door sedans. I think the game has changed. By no means do I think these are slow. I think they are very appropriately powered but the horsepower wars are on and what was once fast might just be quick by today's standards.
BMWAddict if you're on a long straight and have the Ecu tuned it could but yeah a stock one w/sport package could probably only hit 155 or so. 6th gear is 0.67... very long.
ChewbaccaFetus the speedo only goes up to 160. You can disable the governor but even if you hit the 160 mark, you aren't going 160, probably more like 145-150. With mods+a tune, however, you can increase the rev limiter and increase the hp by a decent amount. You may be able to get 165 then but it'd be pretty hard
I own an 07 328xi its an absolute work of art, such pleassure to drive. It is high on maintenance tho, ive had to replace valve covers, solenoid seals and a water pump, but its all good cause i got it for a good price. The enginge and transmission are top notch
Got my 09 in February for 10k but it was low mileage it's an excellent car and I really love it. Very reliable. Plus it is not hard at all to work on DIYs are easy! Usually...
Never say stuff like this but... very well presented. And if ppl want the feeling of not spending a dime on maintainance ever; then get a Toyota, but then you'll be maintaining a Toyota.
Fantastic! ...this is exactly what I was telling all the deniers when I picked up my '06 330i (255hp version of the N52 - an absolute gem) with 32k miles on the clock for only $25k back in 2008! 9 years & 190k miles later I'm still in love with it to the point that I could not trade it in when I picked up a "replacement" (2015 F30) that has this awful e-steering and overall a cheaper feel for some reason. Thank god Alfa Romeo is coming to the rescue! :)
Totally agree! I have a basic 2006 325XI standard... so the slowest of them all. But still fun at full throttle and in corners. And the steering... it's sublime. Tried the 2 series and couldn't feel the road! Another understated thing is the dash. I think it was ahead of it's time in 2006. Just look at the Audi A4 for comparison, looks like 1990s, but the e90 still looks awesome (besides the radio, granted) I agree that the F30 looks and feels cheaper
Agreed! Bought my euro 325i 06 (closest to North American 328i) for $ 14k three years ago with 49k miles on it, probably worth around $10k now (in Sweden) with 62k miles. Still almost feels like new :) And it's getting time to replace suspension components as preventive maintenance - that's fun too. I've only replaced the air mass meter ($ ~160) and that's the only fault it has had until now.
I own one and it's more fun to drive then the newest models! It's not the power it has, it's the feel of the car. Like he said, get a sport package one. Just for the seats, it's worth it. Graphite grey is the best color I think too. They also brought back that exact color with the F30, so hard to distinguish the 2 from certain angles!
Just bought a loaded 09 x3 at trade in price(4k) from an aunt. I couldn't help it when I saw the dealer's offer. I have for years only driven GM trucks with an LS or Duramax and those have been parked since I bought this thing. It's fast, comfortable and handles perfect. I'm sold on BMW!
Good luck to you, my BMW owning neighbors keep burning money on repair costs. One made sure to get a Lexus for the wife so she wouldn't have to deal with constant service.
I love my 2007 328i (also in montego blue metallic) so much that...this is probably the 10th time I've watched this video. You really nailed everything in this video. After 10 years of ownership it has 120k miles and still makes me giddy every time I drive it, and my maintenance/repair costs are STILL lower than for a new Honda Accord. Amazingly, I haven't had to do the water pump, but gaskets, window regulators, etc. Some guys on the forums have gotten more than 400k miles out of these cars. Amazing. I owned a 550i, which was awesome, but I love everything about this car for what it is. So much that I got a 2012 X3 because I love, love, love the N52 engine. Great vid!
@@robchiofalo6138 So I probably should have said "my ownership costs" instead of "maintenance/repair costs." I tracked everything with the car. The total I paid to own it was about $17k over 10 years. Yes, that's still a lot, but it comes out to $1700/yr. That includes 2 full brake/rotor jobs, 2 spark plug changes and coils, 2 battery changes, 3 sets of tires, all the gaskets (oil pan, oil filter housing, valve cover), oil/brake fluid/coolant changes, etc which I'd call maintenance rather than repair. Debatable on the gaskets... That also factors in me paying dealers for the first 5 years. If it wasn't for that, I'd guess the total cost would be 30-50% lower. I also did a LOT of preventative maintenance because I planned to keep the car forever, but an unexpected move made me sell it. Sold it at 105k miles, now it's at 140k and still going strong. I now have an X3 with the exact same engine and I do all the routine stuff myself. Just did a ton of work for about $1000 that would have cost me $7000 at the dealer.
Just a reminder. Yes you can buy a car like that for 10,000. But you better prepare the cost for maintenance. If a bmw with 120,000 miles, you may pay attention to the tires, starter, water pump or coolant thermostat etc. It may cost you around 2k-3k to change it or more.
Choi Jeffery definitely..i have the n52 e90 bought last may with 78k it just had the valve head gasket done..i took possession of it and i shit you not 3k in parts later and still glad as fuck im not an inept tool paying bmw service techs to install them.. just rolled 110k and no SES for over 20k miles..actually starting to not hate this car anymore lol
Dain: what's a "valve head gasket" ?? and 3k for parts? I assume you're talking about a head gasket but i've never heard of "parts" alone costing 3k. Parts and labor for a head gasket is 3k for those of you who cannot diy.
I love love love B8 S4's but I can see what you're saying. The steering is superior in the BMW but I prefer the AWD and supercharged engine in the S4 for a daily(provided it has the sports diff). Obviously the S4 is way more expensive so in the end the E90 makes more sense to me. The fact that you can have both is great. Enjoy man and thanks for sharing!
To anyone looking into getting one, I’d strongly suggest not getting the AWD model unless you REALLY need it. I get by with a RWD model in Michigan with some good tires. The AWD system is a liability in these cars, meaning that it just adds a bunch of weight, complication, and potential maintenance headaches. If you have to do a WP/thermostat job, it makes it much more difficult.
I just sold my E90. It was such a good car and handling is so awesome. Had to move onto something else unfortunately. But I still think about how it drives so much better to my current car.
I've test driven a lot of cars. The e9# 328i with MT is one of the best cars out there for me regardless of the price point. I prefer it to my 335i with AT.
Got an 08 335xi with 112k and already have replaced the water pump, thermostat, spark plugs. Next are the injectors. Not mad at the car, pissed that the last owner failed to maintain the vehicle and treated it like a damn yugo. I know I'll have to invest a bit more BUT she's worth it, i can't find a new domestic car with her power or performance for what I paid for her. Maintain your rides and they'll last. That's the difference between owning a BMW for the name & owning one for the drive. 👍🏽👍🏽
I like this guys review first cause he doesnt come off as a dirt bag, alot of BMW enthusiasts are dirt bags, getting offended by that - might qualify you as one. Good solid review Thanks man
I just recently bought a 2011 328i coupe for 9000. This video holds as showing u can get a nice car for a decent price if you’re willing to do maintenance yourself
Last year in Hong Kong I bought my E90 330i for just $2300 (in USD of course), made 2005 with only 60000km (40k miles) recorded. I eliminated all the cabin rattles, replaced all broken parts, installed Eibach lowering springs, swapped for 335i front brakes, and had some cosmetic touch-ups that makes it look like an M sport version (There was no M sport package for 330i in Hong Kong back then). Still it costs me less than $6400, man these European cars do depreciate a lot in Hong Kong.
I just drove a brand new $40K+ F30 330i for a loaner while my 2011 328 was in the shop at the dealer (vanos bolt recall). I couldn't wait to get back in the E90, it's such a superior handling car. Yes the F30's pretty good in sport mode but it's just not the same.
Anthony Bizer Rarely any problems, but make sure you take it to the bmw ssrvice shop to run a diagnosis. The most expensive thing about them are the maintenance
After 1 year with a 2013 E92 328i and 30K miles of long distance driving at high speed, I totally agree with the video conclusion. At present, at 47K Miles and no problems what so ever. I understand that I will need a cooling system refresh and a few other known potential issues down the road. A small price to pay given the rewarding driving experience.
I have an e46 328 and my neighbor has an e90. Awesome all around cars I got mine for 3000 it's been suprisingly reliable, they need to be taken care of
Spot on nailed it. Great advise about a great car. It is an incredibly fun car to drive and the cost to maintain it will be more than most but there is no comparison for performance.
i love my 2010 E93 335i it still has under 50,000 kilometres on the clock as i only use it as a weekend toy and ive never had a problem with it in 3 years of ownership, its a fucking awesome car
@@javierperez644 It’s been great, I’ve learned a lot with this car but make sure you should stay on top of the maintenance if you are considering a bmw
@@bartb6804 yea man I have a 325i 06, got her for 3.6k and it’s only at 132k miles, so far only thing that’s gone bad is battery and then maintenance but I’m doing valve cover gasket this weekend, overall its been a real good car! Do you have a Instagram we can text on? I have a few questions man!!
I'm deciding to pick between this and a c300. The Merc is probably more reliable, but I would rather work on a Beemer. Also this car is a lot more fun to drive.
Just bought a 2006 325i with 170,000 miles for about 3,400 a week ago and honestly can say I have never been happier in my entire life...bmw's are more expensive than your average car but depending on how well you take care of it is how long it lasts this is seriously my first car ever and watching all these vids doesn't scare me and neither should you💯 btw I'm only 19 no help from the parents either, it's possible
I have a 2006 BMW325i I bought in 2005, it has 219,000 miles, only replaced the starter and water pump and of course tires when needed. I use it to deliver pizza now, its on its original clutch and drives smooth as butter. Drives likes it brand new still. It does have an oil leak, and I decided because of its miles and age and because it cost way more than the value of the car to fix to just use it for delivery until it dies instead of fixing it. Well that was over a year ago, and so far it just keeps going and going.
I resonate with so many aspects of this video! I've owned cars from nearly ever major car maker, including sports cars ranging from a Mazda Miata to a Porsche 928. My E90 328xi is my overall favorite of the bunch. In fact, if I could only pick one car I had to drive the rest of my life, it would be my car with a slightly different option package and maybe a super-charger thrown on for some fun. The wild thing is, that could easily be had for under $20k all-in. It's a 50/50 balance car with excellent handling. In that way, it reminds me of a blend of my Miata and Porsche (also 50/50 weight ratio cars) but in a passenger sedan. I love the styling of the car. It is pretty much timeless, IMO. And the engine.... absolutely yes on the buttery smooth. I agree on the transmission. That's one thing I'd change (as I have the manual). Not one of my favorite stick-shift cars I've owned. I think a lot of that is the clutch, though. I'm considering playing with those spacers that go under on the floor. I think it engages too far out. Anyway, even after 3 years, I feel like I'm inconsistent with the clutch... which has never happened with my past cars (all but a couple have been manual). I'd also correct people when they talk about reliability. Most actually mean maintenance. Few cars these days are unreliable (like typically break down, leaving one stranded). A used E90, even quite used, is still very reliable. I'm very close to 200k miles (over 300k km), and I wouldn't hesitate jumping in it and driving across the country (and Canada is a BIG place). I've owned it for 3 years now, and it hasn't broken down at all (knock on wood). Now, I have had to fix a couple of those darned oil seals. I've had to replace the shocks/struts. I had to replace a front drive-shaft. I've had to replace that notorious water pump. I've had to do brakes. I'm sure that cost more than it would have to do similar work on a Toyota, but I doubt given the age/milage, the Toyota wouldn't need similar work done, it would just cost less. (I'd guess maybe 1.5x to 2.5x more for a BMW.) But, I got the car for $4200 and some people mistake it for new. It just needed a few fixes. (I need to add it up, but maybe ~$12k in it overall so far? That's not so bad considering the nice ride I enjoy each day.)
I'll keep my response short n simple, AMEN👍👍👍👍😁 LOVE MY 2007 328XI, especially with the muffler n resonator delete, it sounds unbelievably sick, the noise that 3.0 N/A engine puts out is crazy for a V6, and I didnt even put the headers or a new intake yet lol..all I got is a K&N air filter and the ROAR PEDAL throttle control, which by the way I highly recommend on this car, for 159$$ your not gonna find another MOD, that really wakes up your car, concerning acceleration and sound, it makes all the difference, definitely makes your car faster 0 to 60, factory 6.3 secs , modded with ROAR PEDAL 5.7 ish secs ,big difference race wise, trust me especially with a manual, I do suggest removing the rev limiter when you install a throttle control..but I know there is a lot of cars faster in this class, but concerning the whole package, as far as handling, pick up, braking, comfort, n sound if you have exhaust modded, I'll take on anyone on a windy, hilly mountain road, n I'll most likely gap you easily 👍👍love my 32 328xi, plan to always have one as a daily, n the M4 only for special occasions lol..😁👍👍👍💪💪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🚘🚘🚘
@@christianodenthal4107 A muffler delete might be a bit much for me, heh, but I would like a bit more sound out of it, as it is so nice! Thanks for the response and expression of mutual E90 enjoyment. :)
@@SteveW928 No problem, life is 2 short n hard not to experience the thrill of driving n owning a BMW 👍👍😁😁 A muffler delete on a 328xi 2007 is not that loud at all Steve, definitely sounds like an autocross machine, love it😁
I bought my first bmw which was a 328i sport package 135,000 miles. Paid $3,000 but the previous owners did no maintenance or even wash it. I did water pump, thermostat, coils, new seals for engine cap and power steering fluid all for under $2,000. Do your research find the flaws and do all maintenance on your bmw at once.
Great Review!!!!FYI for ALL the BMW haters ,to replace the Transmission on a 2004 TrailBlazer(CHEVY)I paid almost 5K,so ALL cars can be expensive to fix if you don’t do the service ..But the pleasure and excitement you get with the Bimmer is AWESOME 👏
Bro, depression is all cars the cars you drive off the lot. And we all know it. Maintenance is king on any car. Not just BMW, our BMW runs 4 sec. 6 sec. Runs, and natural aspirated motor, M-Sport pak., 3 stage manifold a tune... And gone. Also the car is well built and will give a thrill that no other car in the regular market can do. Remember turbos are problems for any car except if your running on the track. Then with no question run with the house power. And what ever people say, it in one ear and out the other. Love your channel bro. Keep up the good work.
just put a deposit down on mine yesterday get it in the morning for 7,000 $ and 145,000 miles i think it’s in A+ condition clean title had it checked out by a mechanic as well as letting him drive it ! can’t wait to get it in the morning !
Nice vid. Mine's a 2011 I stole with 90k mi for around 10k, it does have the x-drive though. 0-60 in 6 and a quarter inside 15 is pretty dope for a highschooler's first car.
A 2006 330i with sport package and manual transmission is an even better deal right now. Most also don't know that the 330i even existed in E90 form, so it flies under the radar.
Just purchased my wife a 2008 BMW 328i, and wow!!! I’ve driven a 2006 V8 Dodge Ram, 1996 and 1998 Mustang GT, 1997 Ford F-150c 2003 V8 Ford Explorer, 2004 Ford Expedition(Eddie Bauer), 2012 Ford Quad Cab F-250(which was my fave before BMW), 2014 Ford F-150 King Ranch Quad Cab(ties with BMW until Alpine Driving), 2007 JEEP Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8, and a 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited. The BMW is Soooooooo much more of a driving beast, luxury, and pleasure. Something that demands your attention of what you are driving or a passenger in. Wow, it is the funnest of all vehicles taken to the Smoky Mountains, and all vehicles I listed visited there!!!!! It is an absolute masterpiece that we will treasure to it’s last mile, just like my wife, it is a German Engineered beast of Art and Science!!!!
The drive is worth it I’m a mechanic I’ll take care of the maintenance. I’ve always been told to stay away from bmw benz Audi cause of maintenance so I always drove Toyota 4 cylinders for the same price but no more I want the feel of a luxury cars fit me more
I have a E90 328i and I love it. People give me crap for it being in the shop regularly but it’s all been maintenance. If you maintain the car it will last. She’s pushing almost 150,000 miles and she drives great. Comfortable and sporty. I drove a “normal” car once and I was like where is this and where is that. Plus it had no no no power..... was not for me. BMW for life!!!! ( FYI ..... I have the same color car)👍
Great Video, my friend. Unfortunately here in Brazil the price of one of these are just about 1/3 of the new. The maintenance here is much more complicated too, tremendous expensive parts and no specialized mechanics. Great video anyway.
It's always interesting to hear how these cars are in different markets. I would be leery to own one too if there weren't specialty mechanics nearby. Thanks for sharing!
I got a steal. 2007 328i that the dealer didn't realize was mod'ed . I pulled the carfax.. sold for 60k new. .... please hit the kick-down button. but be ready for it. lol. the torque on that straight six is unbelievable but does scare some of my passengers, lol.these models are 'sleepers' I swear. I don't 'race' per se' but I smoked a mustang 5.0 with loud exhaust (power bleed, btw) that pulled next to me on the highway. it was epic.
I used to own a 2006 E90 325i last year until I upgraded to a 545i early this year and I agree on everything u said except for the manual part. BMW's are amazing in manual , this is my 3rd manual BMW and I absolutely love it. Had the chance to drive my friend's automatic one and I was really disappointed about how boring the car was compared to a Manual. U definitely should give it a 2nd chance man. Btw amazing video and ur absolutely right about how it is worth it to get one of these for the price they are going for currently.
Thanks man! The manual thing, I don't know really. I've only driven used cars, so maybe the bushings are worn or something. I just don't like the feel. I feel like Japanese cars in general have a much more positive engagement within the shifter. Outside of that I love these things. Enjoy your 5 series!
You say this car isn't fast? I beat a 370 hp Dodge Charger R/T literally last week. Idk why I did, but I did research of his specs. His car was heavier and my cars torque kicked in earlier.
It’s not That’s it’s not fast. It actually has a shit ton of power. It’s just so damn heavy that my 210hp Saab that’s 4 years older was able to dust it
Can't agree more. I drive a 2010 328i X-Drive and my wife has a C300 4-Matic of same vintage. On paper the specs are close enough, but the Merc puts me to sleep after 30 minutes behind the wheel, not for my 328. The steering and engine are the highlights on this E90. The newer F20s or G20s are faster with more toys, but still don't drive as nice.
Love my 335i 300hp. Done a lot of MODS after watching TH-cam videos. My last gf got the used Camary from her parents when they bought a new car. Most people have never driven The Ultimate Driving Machine. Ignorance is bliss as they putt along in some old used POS that they keep taking back to some ripoff drug addict mechanic that charges them $2000 a year to keep it on the road. You are exactly right when you say I paid $6995 for a $45,000 car, and there is a lot more than 1/6 of the car left. My car was original owner, always serviced at dealer, clean CarFax, never wrecked, water pump and fuel injectors already replaced. And it is so much fun to drive. If you are in your 30’s and still driving a POS, you have either no money or no class.
Keep in mind this video was made 3 years ago, but now in 2020 things have changed, for under 10k a better buy than the 328i will be a 2nd gen Lexus IS350, the earlier models 2006-2009 can be found for under 10k in good condition, and according to the test conducted by road and track, the 2007 Lexus IS350 will do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, plus it’s a Lexus, it is nearly bullet proof reliability wise, and will be up par to a BMW 3 series of the same era in terms of comfort and luxury
The is350 doesn't have the torque like the 328i straight 6, I know, I own one of each, lol. And the BMW handling is hands down the best ... riding as a passenger in a BMW is meh, but wait! it's supposed to be comfortable, right? but then driving it? Sorry the Lexus aint got it. I'll drive the IS for going to work, but skipping out to the beach = the BMW any and every day.
@@cheezandwine139 the is350 has better low-end torque from the d4s system and will smoke a 328i in roll or dig, a better comparison would be the 335i which is also slightly slower than is350, but way more tunable, If u do own a is350 and a 328i you know is350 is the faster and better car, 335i competes with is350 and yes BMW handling is unlike other they're called ultimate driving machines for a reason
Nice video and car. Have owned 3 E39 530I's with the straight 6 of different decades. Currently a 2002 E39 530I. Best cars that I have ever owned. But once you start replacing the plastic shit in the engine bay that has broken, because of being brittle, you're on your way. 2 of my E39 530I's had near 300K and going strong...,
Got a '07 328xi with 119k (kinda high) alot of options heated seats has the key that you dont have to put into the key slot and basically everything besides the sports package mine is auto basically immaculate condition 5,100 im pretty happy. its fast for me! alot faster than my silverado haha
Minor correction: the Sport Package in the E90 only gives you a lower/stiffer suspension in the RWD models. "Xi" sport package upgrades were limited to the seats and steering wheel and maybe the sport wheels...
My Wife Bought a 2013 X5 Great Suv for the Family but she needed a Good Commute car Keep in mind it's a Corona Viruse going around cars are cheaper than usual, so she was looking at Fiats, Smart car, Corolla's bullshit shit like that and I start seeing BMW's for the Low she said she would of looked for that in the first place if she knew how reasonable the price was 💯 she just bought a 2008 BMW 328i for $3,000 with little over a Hundred thousand miles it's a fucking great car 25 miles per Gallon on Highway 18 miles on the streets handles well Sporty look needless to say I'm buying a BMW for myself soon . Thanks for the Video
Be aware of the VANOS Aluminum CAM Sprocket Bolts breaking. To fix at the dealership is cost more than the price you are purchasing them for. My son's just broke the Intake Bolts and the local dealer serviced it for him for the past 2 years and never mentioned the issue that BMW extended the warranty for 10 years. Of course his just broke in June and Warranty ended in March on his car. Really disappointed with Century BMW in Huntsville AL for not informing him during alignments, oil changes, and other previous appointments. Doesn't appear to be terrible home fix as I am working on replacing bolts, but would be much easier to replace before breaking. REPLACE ALUMINUM BOLTS FROM FACTORY!
I bought an E85 Z4 with 78k miles for only $6,600. It’s a blast and I can get up to 28 mpg on a tank. 32 on the highway. And they’re BEAUTIFUL. Always leaders in design, so it doesn’t look dated. Check out my videos on it.
I'm scared to buy one of these. My cousin has a 2011 328 coupe with only 40k miles and it's in the shop more than it is on the road. For that same reason he's gonna lease a M4 next to avoid problems once his finance is done on his current 3. Only reason I'm considering is because i already have a reliable Toyota so this 3 series will be my 2nd car, just don't know if i really wanna dump $9K to buy out a car that's more than likely guaranteed some pricey problems down the line.
Unfortunately it's the price you have to pay for cars with a lot of engineering and complexity built in. They're amazing when they work and some are more reliable than others. I certainly wouldn't recommend one to someone who isn't willing to do their own work, and that's not always for everyone. Leasing these is certainly the way to go if you have the means. If you're going to keep your daily and pickup something as a fun car, get an E46 M3 or something like that. A regular 3 series is great, but it's great as a daily since it's comfort, refinement and fun. But if you already have a daily, get a car that is higher on the fun meter for nice weather enjoyment. Just my 2 cents.
@Don Boss Define fun? Adjust alignment on the Lexus and you have a oversteering car at that point. Beyond that so many folks claim BMW is more fun when a bushing change is all that's needed to make a Lexus or Toyota more responsive. Not worth the BMW reliability issues after.
Definitely a good buy, I think the e90 330d would have been better but I don't know if you guys got that in the US. But with 241hp and over 300 lbft of torque that's a great car to drive for the money. Plus the engines are very robust.
335d is just ridiculous. Like 400 lb-ft from the factory, almost quicker than the 335i I hear. Plus diesel is cheaper than premium where I live haha. I upgraded from a Jetta TDI since VW bought my car back and gave me money for the scandal (and I missed my E36

I own an e90 328i. It is absolute perfection. That’s the only way to describe it. The way it hugs every corner, the way it sounds and feels under hard acceleration, and the way it brakes so smoothly...... It’s a love affair.
Bought mine in 09' (e90 325i) with 54,000 miles, 200,000 now and still a reliable DD thats fun to drive, have no intention to replace it anytime soon.
Great to hear a high mileage success story out of one of these.
I have 54,000 on mine (2011) and no issues either.
I think people have trouble with the earlier models, 2011 was the last year for this generation...everything should've been worked out by then. But, 2011 is not $7k...
Do the regular maintenance and it will stay that way, the n52 is a rock solid engine
Replace the timing chain tensioners and the serp belts.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

@Erwin Ahlers And at the end of the lease, you own nothing. Not to mention putting 4k down for the downpayment.
@Erwin Ahlers I can understand that, just depends on a few factors.

Completely agree - having owned a car with the n54 engine, it was fast and fun but incredibly complex and expensive to maintain. Traded it a couple of years ago for a n52 car - yes it is slower but much more reliable, much less complex, easy to work on and still a blast to drive.

0-60 in 6 seconds and a top speed of 165 is not fast? News to me.
I hear ya, but we live in a world of 700hp 4 door sedans. I think the game has changed. By no means do I think these are slow. I think they are very appropriately powered but the horsepower wars are on and what was once fast might just be quick by today's standards.
EatSleepDrive true. Bpc is making a turbo for the n52 so maybe one day I'll upgrade. Lol
Top speed is definitely not 165 in a 328
BMWAddict if you're on a long straight and have the Ecu tuned it could but yeah a stock one w/sport package could probably only hit 155 or so.

Get a bike. The most reliable car ever
Fantastic! ...this is exactly what I was telling all the deniers when I picked up my '06 330i (255hp version of the N52 - an absolute gem) with 32k miles on the clock for only $25k back in 2008! 9 years & 190k miles later I'm still in love with it to the point that I could not trade it in when I picked up a "replacement" (2015 F30) that has this awful e-steering and overall a cheaper feel for some reason. Thank god Alfa Romeo is coming to the rescue! :)
Good to hear another success story!
How’d that hold up? I’m eyeing a 328i with about 100k on it, but the only thing killing me is reliability

Good luck to you, my BMW owning neighbors keep burning money on repair costs. One made sure to get a Lexus for the wife so she wouldn't have to deal with constant service.
Rule #1 Never take it to the stealership when you can take it to a good german car independent shop
Great vid!
How much in repair cost would you say over the 10 years?
Just did a ton of work for about $1000 that would have cost me $7000 at the dealer.
i got a e92 coupe in January and i do not regret it’s been a hell of an adventure & w a muffler & secondary cats delete it’s sounds great
Just a reminder. Yes you can buy a car like that for 10,000. But you better prepare the cost for maintenance. If a bmw with 120,000 miles, you may pay attention to the tires, starter, water pump or coolant thermostat etc. It may cost you around 2k-3k to change it or more.
like any used car.
Choi Jeffery not if you are your own mekanic
Choi Jeffery definitely..i have the n52 e90 bought last may with 78k it just had the valve head gasket done..i took possession of it and i shit you not 3k in parts later and still glad as fuck im not an inept tool paying bmw service techs to install them.. just rolled 110k and no SES for over 20k miles..actually starting to not hate this car anymore lol
Marlyn Jeffery dude tell me about it. I have an e90 328i and I had to spend nearly 3k last year.
Dain: what's a "valve head gasket" ?? and 3k for parts? I assume you're talking about a head gasket but i've never heard of "parts" alone costing 3k. Parts and labor for a head gasket is 3k for those of you who cannot diy.
I agree, have a e90 325i and I honestly like driving it as much as my 2011 s4. The steering and chassis balance is just ideal in the e90.
Bummer you had to move on but maybe one day in the future you'll join back :)
How was the with maintenance ? I mean how did you spend on it.. I’d like to know everything if possible. ^^

The waterpump is a big service and a common problem on these so now that that's behind you hopefully you can just enjoy it going forward!
those should be replaced starting at 60k. glad youre doing what the previous owner failed to do before any serious trouble occurs.

Romeo Kortez wait till you get the repair bills
Almighty Warkloud why are you on every comment lmao

“Silk manufacturers say smooth as a BMW in-line 6”. Love it.
I'm buying an E91 325i today!! So excited!
Enjoy!
I just picked up a 2010 328i xdrive automatic for 7100 with 53000 miles. Aside from the melted door handles, this is a driver's dream. Hecking nice.
Great generation of BMW
Great Video, my friend. Unfortunately here in Brazil the price of one of these are just about 1/3 of the new. The maintenance here is much more complicated too, tremendous expensive parts and no specialized mechanics. Great video anyway.
It's always interesting to hear how these cars are in different markets. I would be leery to own one too if there weren't specialty mechanics nearby. Thanks for sharing!
I feel like I'm in the passenger seat.....not fast...but precisely quick accurate poised calm and fun....ps it is fast lol
Just purchased a 2011 328i for 8K with 67K,. I love this ride.
how s your car, did you have any major issues ?
I got a steal. 2007 328i that the dealer didn't realize was mod'ed . I pulled the carfax.. sold for 60k new. .... please hit the kick-down button. but be ready for it. lol. the torque on that straight six is unbelievable but does scare some of my passengers, lol.these models are 'sleepers' I swear. I don't 'race' per se' but I smoked a mustang 5.0 with loud exhaust (power bleed, btw) that pulled next to me on the highway. it was epic.
I consider myself an enthusiast and have noted the difference in the finer points about it.
Idk if it’s just me but maintenance on this car is not that expensive I absolutely love it had it for half a year:)
What year
That’s good to hear. How has it been 3 years on? I want to get one and I’ve been doing my research.
Just bought a 2011 328xi last week and I love it!!
Enjoy your 5 series!
love BMWs! sweet ride bro
I have a 328i e46 and I love it! I wouldn't mind going into the e90 series
Another great review. You already had me sold on an Elise and now this one is added to my list...
Thank you! Just get both E90 daily and an Elise weekend car. Best of both worlds. :)
I'm kinda the same way, run my 2010 328i daily and a 73 pontiac for the warmer months
You say this car isn't fast? I beat a 370 hp Dodge Charger R/T literally last week. Idk why I did, but I did research of his specs. His car was heavier and my cars torque kicked in earlier.
abraham G Vanos kicked in yo
It’s not That’s it’s not fast. It actually has a shit ton of power. It’s just so damn heavy that my 210hp Saab that’s 4 years older was able to dust it
abraham G they call it a boat for a reason. It’s fast but heavy as hell !
Cool story
A 370 HP car isn't a fast car.
I'm planing to buy 2007 bmw 320i as my first car.
Nice
Stay away from 320i. Those 4 cylinders are a nightmare. Start from 323i upwards.
@@dariocossa5229 Is it too slow or some issues?
KAAN YT 2003 Just not built right / issues stick to an in-line 6
I have a 328i, best car I have had in the same class. You gotta keep up with the maintenance though
Ricj Garcia what maintenance in specific ?
E90 is so much fun to drive ! Miss mine everyday. Unfortunately it was hit and totaled parked on my street :(
Love my 335i 300hp.
They are fun to drive, addicting even.
I prefer the lci m sport 325-335i . Obviously a little more than 10k but so much better than pre lci
I got a 08 e90 with 70,000 miles, alpine white with the chocolate interior. she my baby 💙
What an awesome and thorough explanation, I feel exactly the same about this car. Great Job
Nice video and car. Have owned 3 E39 530I's with the straight 6 of different decades. Currently a 2002 E39 530I. Best cars that I have ever owned. But once you start replacing the plastic shit in the engine bay that has broken, because of being brittle, you're on your way. 2 of my E39 530I's had near 300K and going strong...,
300k is impressive. Definitely a testament to the car as well as the owner.
Got a '07 328xi with 119k (kinda high) alot of options heated seats has the key that you dont have to put into the key slot and basically everything besides the sports package mine is auto basically immaculate condition 5,100 im pretty happy. its fast for me! alot faster than my silverado haha
I'm definitely buying it, I'm not a speed freak, just looking for a good quality daily drive 😁
Sizwe Ndlanzi how is it?
thanks a lot for a great video! i've bought one preowned too, it is an amazing car!
Minor correction: the Sport Package in the E90 only gives you a lower/stiffer suspension in the RWD models. "Xi" sport package upgrades were limited to the seats and steering wheel and maybe the sport wheels...
just got mine. im gonna have to take it out for a spin by Coney Island like you did 🙂
My Wife Bought a 2013 X5 Great Suv for the Family but she needed a Good Commute car Keep in mind it's a Corona Viruse going around cars are cheaper than usual, so she was looking at Fiats, Smart car, Corolla's bullshit shit like that and I start seeing BMW's for the Low she said she would of looked for that in the first place if she knew how reasonable the price was 💯 she just bought a 2008 BMW 328i for $3,000 with little over a Hundred thousand miles it's a fucking great car 25 miles per Gallon on Highway 18 miles on the streets handles well Sporty look needless to say I'm buying a BMW for myself soon . Thanks for the Video
My 08 128i sport/premium 6 speed is an absolute gem of a daily driver.
That straight 6 N52 is actually pretty reliable engine replace your water pump and watch for oil leaks and your golden
EatSleepDrive Thanks man ima look into it.
Ness Rosenbrad what engine code is your cousins' car? Get the N52.
Ness Rosenbrad Get a Lexus. Made my Toyota but plus the luxury.
They are rare over here but I do dig them. Good call out. Bit of a unicorn.
EatSleepDrive I thought so. I'm looking to get one in a year or so(in the uk).
bmwm3man numbers r not everything. i have a 325i e92 with 218hp and on autobahn a 330d cant keep up if stock.
335d is just ridiculous. Like 400 lb-ft from the factory, almost quicker than the 335i I hear. Plus diesel is cheaper than premium where I live haha. I upgraded from a Jetta TDI since VW bought my car back and gave me money for the scandal (and I missed my E36
"...Very fun grown up car" *followed by a car with a huge spoiler doing a burnout* lol
I used to have my mind set on a e46 sedan but the e90 is more refined. I would still take a e46 with lower miles but they don't exist anymore.
