What wonderful progress! If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time that you have had help from anyone on this massive project! Just think how fast it could go with help like Malin's family! Take a rest!
Johan you are not only are fine, sea Captain, but also a flourishing captain of industry. congratulations to your first mate.Malin on all her hard work, both on the boat and running your family and home. Well done to everyone for a great effort.💪💪
Malin and Johan, congratulations on the progress you have made! Johan, I am especially interested to hear the detail and effort you have put into your planning. Additionally, impressive leadership my friend! Your ability to clearly communicate your plans, train your volunteers and execute your plan is outstanding! I was also impressed by your realistic expectations for what could be accomplished. Doing the test run with Mahlin was an excellent move in preparing for the main event. Well done!!
What a TEAM! Sometimes, managing a group like that is the hardest part. I know I've said this before and I hope you take it as a compliment but I'm really impressed at Johan's English. He speaks better than most of the people I know. Ron (from Pennsylvania, US).
Just thinking you guys should build a simple long box to use as a scaffolding solution. 2400mm x 600mm(w) and 800mm(h). The height could be as high as the start of the hull. Then you simply drag that along. It would be a solid working platform.
😀😀👍👍👍❤❤❤ Absolutely beautiful Malin & Johan. Malin you have never been any prettier! 20 years from now your daughter will be a very fine captain indeed!
I know nothing about sailing, never sailed and have no plans to do so (seasickness). My area of expertise is electronics. However I find this build fascinating, informative and educational as well as addicting to watch...great job and looking forward to more!
I can't wrap my head around how broad of an accent Johan have when he speaks skånska, almost nothing of that comes through when he speaks English. Amazing work!
Malin & Johan: we are all greatly impressed with the weekend progress. Great to see the Family helping out with the glass work. Our family built a 36ft Crocker design, gaff schooner, Honduras mahogany/oak framed, bronzed fastened in Newington, NH under Bud McIntosh's guidance when I was 3 years old. Your whole team deserve more than pizza for supper. Fantastic episode, we are all thrilled on your massive undertaking and can't wait for the interior work to begin. Knowing your thoughtful expertise, this will be thrilling to view. Happy Thanksgiving from the USA.
I hope there was a vegetable soup and salad to go with the pizza! You all need some easy to digest nutrition packed food for energy to do that kind of work . Meat, cheese and bread in pizza is the antithesis of that.
How wonderful to be able to work together with your family on your dream project! Must be very satisfying! Respect how you as a family, handle this big project 💪🏻 And thanks for taking us along on this journey.
So, another test, and passing with flying colours. Every time I see someone starting a new project on youtube there are boxes to tick: do they let themselves be overwhelmed or do they keep at it one step at the time, do they have enough attention to detail or do a slap dash job, or does the attention to detail lead to procrastination, can they organise a big job or does it go awry, do they like what they're doing or lose faith? Leo's first test was cleaning up that huge workshop, and when he was finished I knew that I'd keep watching. You've already passed many tests so I'm not all that worried you will be able to complete the job. Keep at it.
Johan, very well explained at the beginning of the video - and you a master of understatement (just sand the hull - a 50 ft hull)😉 Well prepared for the arrival of the larger team which laid off with great results. You just need to convince them they had so much fun that they should come back for the next three weekends.😀👍⛵️
OMG 😱 WOW ‼️ Over 800 Sq ft of 4 layers. D.a.m.n. that's a ton of work‼️ It was beautiful to see a family coming together and working as one. Such love is a great example for the world. Love your leadership and work ethic.......not to mention organizational skills. See you next time.✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
Wow, this is such an exciting milestone for Team RAN Sailing! Your progress is truly impressive, and it's amazing to see the exterior lamination starting on your 50ft sailboat. This do-it-yourself yacht build is a massive project, and your diligence and patience are truly commendable. Remember to take a well-deserved rest and appreciate how far you've come. Keep up the great work, Team RAN III! Your efforts and hard work are truly inspiring. Well done!
Great work. ❤ We had similar issues when we did ours, also roughly 100m2 total. I found rolling the pre cut lengths of cloth onto lengths of plastic drain pipe, supported them better as you un roll onto the hull, being able to pull to get it flat with no wrinkles. Also using rubber squeegees to pour on and spread the resin (surfboard style)worked way faster to saturate the cloth and eliminated the issues of resin build up in the rollers which eventually overheated due to exotherming.
We didn't worry about excess dripping from the hull, but in reality you can control the flow quite accurately with the squeegee. We did use large brushes to apply if pouring was an issue. But again just used the brush to apply and the squeegee to press the resin through the cloth.
What great planning, a good test run before family arrived & most of all wonderful team work. Craftsmanship at its BEST. I look forward to your videos arriving each Friday - well done !!
I continue to be impressed by your level of expertise, Johan, in all of this hull-preparation work (not to mention the entire construction project!)! When you are finally finished with the building of RAN III, there will be no better sailboat of this size and style on any water on earth! Well doing will make for a final well done.
Good crew! Well done , it’s always nice to see families working together! I would say you two did an excellent job of the preparation which is key to having the team of workers be a success!
I’m so glad to have found your channel. Lots of boat yet to cover…that is okay! More fibreglassing videos you say…bring it on, I’m here to watch and enjoy them all.
I really like your approach to this project. Preparation IS crucial ! You should also put in a set of "go-no go" protocols in order to cut work off in the case of plans NOT working out. Cutting your losses (and HOW to shut down) in the case of the "unforeseen" is an important part of any plan.
That is a lot of glass work. You can do this kind of job with a lamanating table where all the wet out is done easily you then roll it up on a tube then roll it out on the boat. It might be easyer to roll it up the boat, maybe from your marks anyway then you just have to get it flat and work out the air . None of this is easy but you will get it done!
Love the whole show , in particular the outdoor shots which show the seasonal changes as they have occurred . I am an Aussie 🇦🇺 and our seasons are different and I guess not quite so well defined . The deer roaming the fields are a bonus ! 😁🦌
For large areas, I prefer to mix the epoxy in one and a half liter pet bottles. I fill the bottles with a liter of epoxy resin and then add the hardener and shake for 2 minutes. One bottle after another. I pour it over the area and spread it with the paint roller. NICE JOB ❤
1. What an episode! Planning makes Perfect. 2. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall, particularly during the pre-work briefing when the cost of mistakes in time and money were detailed🙂. 3. Reactions/comments from the volunteers would be interresting. 4. I know I'm late in suggesting but a sample piece of the cedar laminate with the 4 fiberglass layers, in and outside, would be useful to demonstrate the product and even provide you with strength testing. Comment?
This do-it-yourself yacht build is a MASSIVE project and your progress is IMPRESSIVE!!

Watching this project come together is so cool. Watching this boat sail will break the internet. 😂😂😂
Your diligence and patience is honourable! Progress indeed. Great work!
Thanks! 👍😊
WOT A WEEKEND, WOT A TEAM.
Well done Team Ran III.
Malin and Johan, congratulations on the progress you have made!

Many hands make light work (and an empty fridge!). The progress is impressive. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪.
Good job organizing the layup, guys :)
I really admire your organisation. So well thought out. This is not a standard boat construction video, it’s a Master Class. 😅
Respect for all you guys and woman of course, what a weekend off hard labour.
That is a great outcome born from great teamwork made possible by good planning and preparation.
WELL DONE!
Well done team RAN 111 what an effort you all put into it and so much hard work.
What a TEAM! Sometimes, managing a group like that is the hardest part. I know I've said this before and I hope you take it as a compliment but I'm really impressed at Johan's English. He speaks better than most of the people I know. Ron (from Pennsylvania, US).
Happy birthday Vera. I hope you get lots of toys.
Vera says thank you! 😊
Well done, all of you...
Great progress.
Your planning was excellent here, and adding a dedicated team made for a great success! Congratulations to all.
It's lovely when you can work as a team 😁
Just amazing!

Family is a joy they add their help/view to your future, blessing on you and them.
Never look at what you have to do. Admire what you have accomplished. Your talents are amazing
Well done 👍 planning, preparation, patience, the 3 p’s. The shortest distance between 2 points. Ha
Great planning and preparation for a successful project!

Your attention to detail surely has, and will continue, to serve you well. Impressive!
Very clever doing the layers overlapping by quarters lengthwise. Why didn't I think of that?
I agree, and my thoughts as well.
Love the detailed explanations! I enjoy your story telling and the sharing of knowledge very much.
You are the no1 channel 🤙. Keep on the good work...

Great work over the weekend
Great work guys
Biltema needs to give you a sponsorship real soon.
There is a book titled, DOING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Johan is following that book closely.
Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
Great job. Next week the lamination team needs to include Mads.
Lovely to have family helping, great progress made along with the memories. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all.
Love seeing people help with this wonderful project.
See where the work ethic comes from!

As a Swede you can think of it as just a really big canoe. Don’t forget the oars!
Wow. Your brother is so tall now!

I am amazed that the progress you have made. I've been watching your channel for years. I can't believe you're building your own boat. That's amazing.
Wouldn't it be interesting to meet and discuss the farmer by your shop?
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Great work from a great crew!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Phew ! Good job peoples !👍😎
So great to have the family support. Kudos all around!
COOL, great job!
Proud of each and everyone of you! Pretty sure the younger siblings had it the easiest! Getting old hurts doing that kind of work.
KEEP up the good work...
