Yay! ANOTHER brilliant idea. At 2:27 YOU put ear protectors on and OUR sound gets muffled. Who thought that one up? We are so with you already, this is... very sweet icing on the cake. Well done.
With your channel approaching 10 years, you realise that the two of you have spent more time together than most married people do in 30-40 years because you are constantly together all day every day, so I just wanted to acknowledge and congratulate you two on this milestone 👍❤👍 Yeah the boat work was great too 👍
After watching this channel for about 5-6 years now, I've never been so ready for a monthly boat payment as I have been after watching these past few episodes. 😵💫😅 I don't know how you guys do it. I'm just stunned, video after video of this build at how your commitment, courage, boundless energy, and undaunted spirit shine a bit brighter with each step closer to completion. The two of you are really one of a kind. Rock on and look forward to the next episode.
I've felt exhausted just watching you both do all the glass work and I feel personally relieved that the paint is going on, I can't imagine how good it must feels to see Uma in white again!!
A little random, but I'm so happy to see you both modeling safety and wearing respirators while doing this work. I feel like so many DIY videos on youtube don't respect the danger of working with some of these materials that could mess up your long-term health.
I've got guys putting concrete siding on my house right now. They never use a respirator of any kind when cutting it. It makes me cringe every time I see it. We all only have one body, we need to take care of that to make it last as long as possible.
Air fed respirator from an outside air source is actually what is usually needed for below decks and tight spaces, especially for long time exposure. Some of that paint can even get thru your eyes.
'This is not the end of the Uma refit. It is not even the beginning of the end. It is however the end of the beginning.' 😉 Well done, and many congratulations!
Could you imagine commercial boat builders putting this much care into their boats. You guys are doing an amazing job. Always great to watch your progress.
Thank you both so much for showing the journey of your refit. I had a fire on my boat this spring and it destroyed large sections of the interior hull liner. Watching your progress helped me deal with the loss, and inspired me to move forward with my own restoration. I learned a lot of techniques from watching you do your work, and have used your processes in a lot of places on my boat - from plastic bags over plywood to back an unsupported layup, to buying my own 3M full face respirator. I'm happy to report that I have rebuilt the destroyed engine tunnel and companionway, and am now on the final fairing coat before primer. Good luck with the rest of your refit, and I'll be watching!
the best thing on this episode was the gleam and shine in kikas eyes when she got back on the boat in the morning after doing the primer. by the way the boat will look bigger inside because the white color creats a different dimension in the eye with less corners and edges.... You have done a very cool and creative job in the last year -VERY WELL done!!!
Truly a mile stone to reach in this chapter in your refit. The white prime show off well all the engineering work you both have done. Great jobs guys. I hope you do some vid of the met, at least the products your planning on purchases. You guys do superb research into most everything. That said I trust your judgement in product functionality and durability. Jim Rodgers
I have a sailboat built 1982. I have been sailing it since -99. We had kids, they have moved out now. We still have the same boat. I so understand this project.
After painting the inside of our house that my wife and I built we know exactly how you feel at the end of the day. Regards Don from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia
I've been with you since the first vlog, and now a heavenly change, first class UMA, and that's after the first painting, I loved UMA but this one more, congratulations KIKI and DAN. Good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!
So, you’ve framed and sheet rocked the walls. Now comes utilities, furniture, etc., and the entire outside. Still a lot to do, but each step now seems a step more “update” than repair and restore. It looks wonderful and I hope all goes forward smoothly. ❤❤
This is the first time I’ve ever stopped while watching to put in a comment. Here’s why: I LOVE that you took time to explain the light through the hull. It was assumed that that was the reason but nice to have it confirmed. I’ve been AMAZED and appreciate how you both put an emphasis on cleaning at, after and before each stage. (IMO it just reinforces the level of detail that is exercised.) Lastly, to me it speaks volumes companies are reaching out to you to assist in the refit (e.g. paint). I’m guessing that you both were just truly giving honest reviews and opinions and the fact that they are supporting you, your channel and refit is so cool. (I know… they get something out of it too but it seems the support came after the info was shared.) Now, back to the episode… 😊
Congratulations, Kika and Dan! You’ve reached a major milestone in your progress towards resurrecting Uma. It will be interesting going forward to see how you outfit Uma to be an amazing world cruiser. Thank you for bringing us along on your amazing journey.
The work on the Uma looks so good right now. I love the fact that you guys are so transparent about sharing your mistakes to help others avoid the same ones.
For the names on the hull, I suggest printing all the names on a special Water Slide Decal material. It is the same material as the decals in a model airplane kit. While the decal is wet, you can position it and squeegee out the air bubbles. After it dries, you can clear coat over everything for protection. Also, it allows you to add names in the future in order to match font and size.
We have been watching your journeys for a long time and are so very excited for you both to have finally reached the stage in your project where you are putting things back together. We look forward to the rebuild - from the east coast of Australia
Hi,as the old saying goes you have certainly put a great deal of elbow grease into the project.I feel that it is going to be beautiful when finished.great videos.cheers,Roly🇬🇧.
Watching all the different body contortions you two put yourselves through, I could hear my mind saying, "I can feel my knees giving out" or "I can feel the back pain from doing that." So great job on the first primer coat. And don't take this anyway but as complimentary, Kika does not need any "assatone" workouts because all the climbing has already done the job. Looking forward to the next step.
Kika your so resilient and tenacious! There is no way I could have cleaned a whole vberth let alone nearly the whole boat alone all day! I would have been out every 5 mins like can I stop yet! Have fun in the Netherlands!
You both are the best at rebuilding a boat channel out there. Your formal is not only educational but also exciting and fun to be part of. All this is in addition to following your travels. Keep it up!
The end is finally in sight for you guys. The hard work is finished; now it’s just the finishing touches. Great job on the refit! It’s been a long journey, and I’m sure you can’t wait to launch UMA and to start sailing again.
It’s certainly enjoyable to watch you Two always smiling and laughing together She’s coming along great, I’m sure you are happy with the results 🇨🇦 Cdn. Dave 🇨🇦
You both have an amazing focus and get it done attitude. I am looking forward to the finished product as I am sure both of you are as well. Keep up the good work.
Wow! That white coat feels so fresh! Dont forget to clean the airconditioner after all that dust from the last months! So that also the air ging around wil be clean and free of dust too 😊
Dan, Kiki hi from Calgary. Once again you just blow me away with your planning and work ethic, rare commodity these days. The interior looks damn fantastic huge progress. Taking a trip north for a week or so is well earned. Shoutout to the paint materials/technical advise supplier awesome support to Uma and her owners. See you two next time, thanks.
Ever again impressive how much a few liters of varnish change the whole image of the interior from construction site into living quarters (well, almost).
I’m so thrilled for you guys! A little tear cane to my eye 🥲 You guys are a real inspiration. You work hard & seamlessly together ❤ I painted the interior of my Airstream white and it looks much bigger & cleaner. I have a very colorful palette, so there’s lots of color also.
Years ago I painted a 32 ft inside also completely white. ( outside blue with white) It was easy to get dirty but made it look a lot larger inside. We put a few details in teak to give done accents, that made it even look bigger. Great job guys.
In my younger days I loved sanding & finishing and getting that coat of paint on… SO satisfying to see the results! But as I’ve done it a gazzilion times over the many many years…. YA, you couldn’t pay me enough to do that sanding, cleaning, taping, painting and cleaning again! Ugh I HATE doing it now. But I LOVED seeing this and your excitement!! Can’t wait for her drop back in the water‼️🤠👍🏼☮️☮️
You guys are so incredibly patient, creative, professional and tenacious. I got so overwhelmed at the job you guys have in front of you. Kudos to you both, a tremendous team and 😮inspirational relationship. Wishing and praying for the best in all your endeavors. Much love and respect always.
Thank you for this video on a Friday evening in Scotland 🏴 I have been looking forward to the painting phase of beautiful Uma! (not as much as you I’m sure) Look how far you’ve come! Enjoy the break and shopping, you both deserve it so much x
Hi, thanks for answering the question about the light coming through the hull and other spots I had been curious about that. When you were going through the paint I became curious as to how much weight it will add to build. It seems to me to be heavy on the shelves but what do I know 🤓.
I am still baffled by the amount that I enjoy your updates. I don't have a boat, don't sail (well, I windusrf obsessively, but different). Keep it up - so amazing.
The project phase you are in is generally referred to as "90% done...90% to go".
indeed :)
New t-shirt idea!!
Oh yes. Evolution takes time 👏👏😊
How long have they been at it?
Yay! ANOTHER brilliant idea. At 2:27 YOU put ear protectors on and OUR sound gets muffled. Who thought that one up? We are so with you already, this is... very sweet icing on the cake. Well done.

I agree. They'll be so pleased when they're older that they took care. Blessed be.
Somehow the enormity of this project becomes clearer.
Hats off to you both as designers, project planners, teachers and craftsmen.
'This is not the end of the Uma refit. It is not even the beginning of the end. It is however the end of the beginning.' 😉 Well done, and many congratulations!
Thanks for staying the course and persevering through the difficulties. U-2 are remarkable and truly dreamers !

I had a vision of Uma in the water. Tears in your eyes. My heart filled with joy. I believe. Thank you for sharing your life. Thank you.

I love how a bit of paint changes a project so much. It make look less like a construction zone more like a finished product.
The white paint just transformed all the space. Really brightened the whole cabin up and made it look spacious. The cave is gone!
Uma is looking Umazing.
I'll see myself out.
😂😁
Best comment!
I have a sailboat built 1982. I have been sailing it since -99. We had kids, they have moved out now. We still have the same boat. I so understand this project.
👍
some boats are for life... i dont want another boat, which is good because nobody wants my boat
Yeah. Mine is from 1986. Bought it from an old couple back in 2012. They were really sad to have to sell it.
I'm glad you answered the hull light question, I was wondering myself!
Renovating a 50-year-old boat is not my bag but you two deserve every penny you receive from this channel. Enjoy the show and buy the best products.
Hats of to Akzo Nobel. Appreciated
I think Dan & Kika got a good (Akzo Nobel) price
Uma the White
YaY!!! I just got so excited seeing the thumbnail! You have primer!!! That's so awesome!
After painting the inside of our house that my wife and I built we know exactly how you feel at the end of the day. Regards Don from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia
Wonderful to see the progress and that you are very much on the right track with the redesign. Very inspiring, thank you !
I've been with you since the first vlog, and now a heavenly change, first class UMA, and that's after the first painting, I loved UMA but this one more, congratulations KIKI and DAN. Good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!
What a team... Absolutely love these later-stage build vids... Keep going guys.
So, you’ve framed and sheet rocked the walls. Now comes utilities, furniture, etc., and the entire outside. Still a lot to do, but each step now seems a step more “update” than repair and restore. It looks wonderful and I hope all goes forward smoothly. ❤❤
They have however already installed the frames of most of the furniture

What an accomplished. Looking forward to the next phase. Uma is looking great. I’m also so glad you use all precautions with the respirators and such.
If all of TH-cam was just to hear Kika laugh with delight, it was worth it
LOVE that groovy bass!!! Keep that song in rotation, please!
Something so satisfying about the cleaning step

It feels so good to see you both so happy, and it's absolutely wonderful to see Uma all dressed up
I love this phase of a refit. Feels like almost done... it only feels that way for a short while but still, momentary bliss. Also the fumes 😊
I love Kika's laugh. The best accomplished feeling.
Awwww, she’s looking so good. 🥹

What an amazing feeling of a job well done when all white and a phase completed!!!
That is quite a nice transition! It is sooo much lighter in there! Great Job!
So much work. I remember when you started years ago. A fresh beginning- new paint. Congratulations.
“Years.” ROTFLMAO. 😂😂😂
Looking GREAT guys! You have taken your time and did it RIGHT!! Now you can start realizing the fruits of your labor!! Kudos 🤗💕
kinda like painting a restoration car everything is in the prep.Your attention to detail is impressive.
Kika your so resilient and tenacious! There is no way I could have cleaned a whole vberth let alone nearly the whole boat alone all day! I would have been out every 5 mins like can I stop yet! Have fun in the Netherlands!
Dan you were correct when you said Stage Left. 😊 Stage Left and Right are from the Perspective of the Performer when facing the Audience. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Uma looks great! Looking forward to more painting!
You both are the best at rebuilding a boat channel out there. Your formal is not only educational but also exciting and fun to be part of. All this is in addition to following your travels. Keep it up!

What you have achieved and now seeing everything come together, is well truly inspirational. Great job
Totally in awe of you guys. I've had four boats and worked on each of them, but you guys are persistence with a smile.
Love this. Have watch every episode but this one brought a tear. Amazing
Wow! That white coat feels so fresh! Dont forget to clean the airconditioner after all that dust from the last months! So that also the air ging around wil be clean and free of dust too 😊
It must be so exciting to actually see the progress now. You two have worked your bums off. Congratulations on reaching the next step.
We have ALL been waiting for this stage. CONGRATULATIONS

You two are an Amazing team and couple. You work so hard and so well together as a team. I am so happy for you two!
What a difference some paint makes! Congrats for this new chapter! 🤗
Henry is the hardest working tool on your boat!

WooHoo..congrats on finishing the first stage of the "rebuild". Best of luck on the next phase.

I love this channel ❤️
Big fan from denmark

Kiki & Dan,
You Guys are Rockin it. Almost half way complete. Cheers!
fairing and sanding and fairing and sanding and fairing and sanding for the next 2 months will suck but the results will feel good.
