    Honestly, this channel has way fewer views than it deserves. Spread the word everyone!

      Easily one of my favourite Tolkien TH-camrs. Everything is so well researched, and even when Tolkien doesn't give the answers directly, he will make very educated guesses that fit the world Tolkien described. And he seems to have a great personality as well. Always humble, kind and willing to learn.

      It is because he himself must spend the time and effort to promote himself and his channel, and he does not, in my opinion. And I feel he does not do this because he does not want to. Becoming big doesn't seem to be a priority to him, which is fine and is his choice. I think he is content to make the few videos he does and has no wish to become entangled in the pressures of obligation and the insistence to produce, which is probably better anyway since it creates vacuous content when that happens.

    5:50 Imagine being in a kinda morally dubious faction at war with another equally morally dubious faction only to have Sauron show up/send one of his top goons to mediate peace? I kinda wonder does Sauron just in essence command peace to happen because it isn't his want for his own goons to fight each other, or would he try a more diplomatic means first in order to not appear too tyrannical? Puzzling to ponder how does a Dark Lord approach putting two factions at war into peace mode with each other.

    I've grown to watch all your videos, and I really enjoy your perspective.
    With that being said, would you be interested in a "What if" Arvedui was successful? Would Arnor survive? Would Gondor become crippled by a distant king?
    Would this action essentially restore the Reunited Kingdom? What descendants would survive into the Lord of the Rings Era? Just curious.
    Keep up the great work!

    Brilliant. The Numenoreans were always making the wrong choice for King. That's why the powers in the West always have to work to correct the situation bringing in Elendil from the rightful line of Silmarien, then Aragorn of the line of Anarion and Isildur, the heir of Elendil and of Silmarien. Nothing was ever right among them unless the rightful King sat on the throne.

    As a side note, the channel formerly known as History of Middle-Earth has just recently been handed a court order to change their Channel title. Now they have to go by History of the Ages. They would be able to tell you if including the name Middle-Earth is what was strictly copyrighted because then you can start thinking ahead of time what your new name will be when they come after your channel.

    • @DarthGandalfYT
      @DarthGandalfYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm aware of their recent problems. I believe that mostly came about due to the fact that they were using a name that is already a Middle-earth book series and that they were selling merchandise using that name.
      I won't claim to be an expert in copyright or trademark law, but I think should be fine. I'm fairly certain that while the character of "Gandalf" is trademarked, usage of the name isn't due to its appearance in Norse mythology.
      I could be wrong, and if I do get hit with something, I'll be sure to tag you so you can get me with an "I told you so". It's not a real big deal to me if I have to change my name. It sucked for the HotA guys because they have a website, store, patreon etc...

    • @MasterBombadillo
      @MasterBombadillo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarthGandalfYT I don't think so. HoME is trademarked by the Tolkien Estate itself, who are - to my knowledge - far less restrictive to their fanbase than Zaentz is (at least I haven't heard about bullying of common fans by the Estate). After all, it is Zaentz that threatened them into changing their names. It was about the use of the term "Middle-Earth", over which they do have a trademark going since they own the rights to LotR and The Hobbit.
      I think you're in the clear (at least for now) because you're way smaller than HoTA, and if his heirs are even 10% the man Saul Zaentz himself was, it's only about the money.

    Can you do a video about why the Elves procreate so slowly even after 6,000 years they still struggle repopulate their kingdoms?
    It's not like they are having to deal with constant wars, diseases, or famines like Men or Dwarves have to deal with plus their reproductive cycle seems to be similar enough to mankind. You would think a large group of living peoples immortal from aging, immune to diseases, and reproduce like humans do would thrive in such a environment like middle earth. They have it better then Elves in Elder Scrolls or Warhammer Fantasy do that's for sure.

    Gondor in this era is much more similar to the Gondor from Boromir's time.
    After the earlier periods their weakness feels very strange.

    How was the battle at the south, with the Haradrim?

    • @DarthGandalfYT
      @DarthGandalfYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We know little about it except that Earnil won a crushing victory over the Haradrim. Considering he camped away from the Poros and let them cross the river, he likely ambushed them much like Faramir ambushed them in the Two Towers.

    do you have some numbers?

    • @DarthGandalfYT
      @DarthGandalfYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately, no canon numbers. If I had to estimate, I'd say Gondor and the Wainriders would've fielded 30,000+ in each of their three battles. The Wainriders probably weren't powerful enough to defeat Gondor on their own, hence why they enlisted the aid of the Haradrim in the last part of the war. Gondor would've been stretched thin then, and I'd say Earnil's army would've been maybe 20-25,000 at most.

  • @MovieTacular

    How come the Elves/Dwarves didn't interfere here, when the Wainriders were so close to their lands?

    • @DarthGandalfYT
      @DarthGandalfYT  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think they would get themselves involved unless the Wainriders attacked them first, which would be unlikely because most Men were afraid of Elves, and Dwarves were often able to stay neutral. From their perspective, it would've just been a war of Men versus Men, no need to get involved.

    Since ever have a drawing of my face as dead and this = a war threat(an incoming).

    • @anasqai
      @anasqai 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I passed by abt "sand problem"(, summarising both would mean they expressing as "have alot of people and bigger than this country size".

    • @anasqai
      @anasqai 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It only appear now would mean: pretending "just an incoming, a new invasion" if spotted by someone. Means they have no informer is best.

    • @anasqai
      @anasqai 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      By science known as i am the 1st 2 wheel(bicycle) natural rider, means they use magnets, would mean the Wainriders are Bike-users.

      "ain society" is spreader of virus aids into food(a spiker), so their reading way can be, example "reading" would become "re ad ing" 3 vocab at one, means w could be "win ain rider" maybe mean fight for ain society the spiker of aids virus(all yellow cars).
