I always look forward to new vids from you. One of my favourite streamers. Great info and a great style. I have never had good results with the .177 Hades but the .22 version seem to work well in all my rifles. The Polymag shorts also are a top performer but too expensive for general target work and plinking.
Glad this test showed the .177 polymag shorts are serious kit not gimmick, I can confirm they do expand in "soft" targets. Sensitive to wind and not for long range 40 max. I find .177 Hades give me a random fliers for no apparent reason, but also the highest BC I have measured in .177, 0.031. .22 Hades are however amazing more ftld, more accurate and more impact. I would still like for you to shoot the plastic crap at ballistic gel even if it's 10m just to show how useless they are.
I get great results with both caliber hades, RWS guve me random flyers, but they are very tight In my .177 and suspect I might be causing damage when feeding from the magazine..
My go to pellet is bisley long range gold .177 , enjoyed your video' 👍 a lite pellet but my sub 12 ft FX impact really likes them and they take grays out at good distance
great comparison, thanks. not for hunting but i recently purchased on Spitfires and they were pretty damn consitent and half the price of the JSB I normally use.
Polymag shorts fit my .22 brocock bantam magazines and are surprisingly accurate. My .177 FX dreamline generally shoots the 177 hades really well but they do throw a flier every now and again.
I use h& n barracuda hunter extreme, they work well in my Airarms s510tc carbine. and my Daystate huntsman revere safari.hades are a close second, I've never tried "composite pellets ( two different materials)so found your video very informative 👍
The JSB Exact is my rifle's fave. I've tried the ball tipped ones too in the past. Complete rubbish. A third of the tin had their balls rolling around in the tin, many skirts bent, and the 'good ones' I got a grouping close to your results (PCP as well as a break-barrel magnum). Great testing video!
The Hornet surprised me when using the HW100, not bad initial grouping at 50m before a couple of flyers?? They do look pretty awesome. If the Polymag were cheaper and in bigger tins I'd give them a go
Dont forget to test knockout slugs when you go for gel, not sure they will expand correctly in sub12 but both 10 and 13 gr knockouts show amazing performance in fac rifles
I'll likely do the slugs in their own video assuming I can get decent footage with the pellets first. I've got a fair selection of slugs now including the MK2 jsb KO in .177
My take from this is stick with the JSB domes, the polymag short can work well but the hornets look coolest and would make a good novelty gift labelled 'ultra deadly armour piercing ballistic tip, warning may shoot through anything'
@@tillysgunstocks You actually shot a scope? Haha, cool. Make sure to remember safety specs when experimenting with stuff like this... yes and remember to shoot the safety specs
Thanks for the intelligent and interesting test. I don't think any of those pellets will open up much at sub12 level. At sub12 to 30m I would use H&N Baracuda Hunter for stopping power on pests. I shoot .22 and .25 at higher velocities, a keen user of Polymags (ensuring all tips centred) but in .22 switched to Hades (due to price mainly) which are not effected by wind so much-especially beyond 35m. I don't use Hades in .25 as they simply wont group in my LW barrels; choked or unchoked, irrespective of velocity/pressure, sizing thimble or probe length. I cannot understand why manufactures can't produce consistently sized barrels and matching pellets.
I have recovered.177 Polymag shorts that definitely did expand, they do a lot lot more damage than any normal dome head, Barracuda Hunter extreme do also do a good amount of damage but less expansion than the Polymag. Hades in .22 are a very effective pellet even at sub 12, they don't need to fragment like many think for that head design to change the impact.
I have seen the poly tipped pellets do a lot of damage in ballistic jell blocks. It seems to be that they go into the block about 15mm and tumble creating a larger wound channel for about 3cm. They end up backwards in the jell blocks. My issue these days is penetration for animals larger than rabbits. Expansion with 22 pellets isnt really needed with head shots. What kind of pellet has given the deepest penetration with 12 pound rifles? Thanks for all you do.
I don't think I've ever seen you shoot bisley magnums my rapid lives for them things be interesting to see what the Annie does with them cheers for the video 👍👍
Polymag shorts , had some good grouping with them ( forgot what rifle , and only bought a tin to try out of curiosity ) so your result came as no surprise ... 10.34's have always been descent in most rifles , but the Hades ? , well , basically rubbish ... think ive still got 3/4's of a tin left .. super vid .. interesting veiwing
Ran hn baracuda hunter xtremes against 1/16 steel sheeting, would leave moderate dent. Hornets at same fps would blow through one side of the sheeting of the vent boxing, and would leave a dent similar to the cudas on the other side. Groupings were amazing.
my 9yr old break barrel gamo loves the lethal pellets and gamos versions of the red tip and the blue tip ones.. i am very interested in the H&N hornet to see if they work as well or better in my rifle... also gamo makes 2 dif pellets with the copper BB in the tip one is gamo rocket and im not sure what the name is of the other
Another interesting and great test. The Polymags really surprised me as did the Hades. However, having used both l have found that the Hades are much better in .22 than in .177 and certainly both are not that accurate past 25m.
I thought they were but these are much worse.. I've just got some Powerball on the way and they are quite different in the skirt area. I forgot to put one in the thumbnail too 😆
I have found that I weight my pellets with a jewelry scale and lightly lube my pellets and make sure they are at the right shape,,,,and trust me the accuracy improves big time
All being well the copper/brass tips should never come in contact with the mag rotor or barrel. With auto indexing mags we hold the rotor back to drop the pellets in, hopefully well centred. Same on loading unless of catastrophic issues they should always be loaded concentrically enough to keep the tips away from the delicate parts of the mag/barrel 😉
@@tillysgunstocks cool thanks, I was wondering because I have a fiddly FX mag , it's the only gripe I have with the gun because my fingers are beaten up with work over the years and I do fumble with 177 lol
@@steveyountz9184 I do struggle a bit now keeping my heart/chest off the deck as my shoulder is knackered ,running about doing the cameras is not good for a nice low heart rate.. I need to find a solution for that going forward
That's an Anschutz 9015 I'm using. It's a fancy bit of kit but theres absolutely no reason why a healthy fn19 shouldn't match it accuracy wise. My mate and I spent years using fn19s and they are very capable indeed 😉 they are quite sought after too nowdays
He said that the Hornets had a tight fit into the barrel. So it doesn't necessarily look like a good start. You ALWAYS want a tight fitting pellet! ALWAYS! That way the riffling can do its job better! So i dont know what he was talking about with that. No spin, NO ACTUALLY!
All of the pointed tip pellets could best be described as a fad, absolutely no accuracy at a decent hunting range, yet the Diabolo pellet puts them down cleanly, humanly at far greater distance than any of these pellets and hold onto more usable energy downrange.
I laughed when my mate showed me the polymag shorts he started using but was amazed at the accuracy and damage they caused through his hw100
Yeah I was amazed with the short versions. The price is a bit off-putting though...
Looking forward to seeing the next tests 👍

Strangely enough I concur , in .22 ( Hades ) they are awesome ... think its down to the shape to be honest ..

Same in my R10. Great pellet , even at longer ranges, as the name says 😊
25 to 30 yards... .177 RWS Hobby are great pest control/hunting pellets.
That flat face helps prevent over penetration.
Yup 100% better than all the fancy ones.
"Not so much a group, as a galaxy" 😅...... great channel as always 👍

Teasing us with the ballistics gel. Can't wait to see the results.

Have you any videos with the H&N barracuda hunter extreme pellets?
The plastic tips are super easy to dmg or alter if you aren`t super careful while loading them. Other than that good presicion.
How does the pointy things work in a magazine? I would think the copper points would scratch the internals.

sure the copper tipped pellets were called fireballs, just as bad through a.22 hw80
I think the unknown ones might have been called “ promethius “, but I could be wrong
