why not shoot a nuke next to the asteroid so that the force of the blast would divert it. im sure if u had rhe right distance calculated u could explode the nuke close enough to divert it without damaging the asteroid. even if u needed multiple explosions. u could send a chain of nukes that after timing their explosions at the proper distance the asteroid would be diverted enough to miss earth. if u did it far enough away from earth just a slight diversion would be enough.
That's not completely off and definitely in the arsenal. The DART mission showed us, that we can in fact divert an asteroid on enough even just by a kinetic impact.

why not shoot a nuke next to the asteroid so that the force of the blast would divert it. im sure if u had rhe right distance calculated u could explode the nuke close enough to divert it without damaging the asteroid. even if u needed multiple explosions. u could send a chain of nukes that after timing their explosions at the proper distance the asteroid would be diverted enough to miss earth. if u did it far enough away from earth just a slight diversion would be enough.
That's not completely off and definitely in the arsenal. The DART mission showed us, that we can in fact divert an asteroid on enough even just by a kinetic impact.
