    What’s goin’ on people? Mark from DCAR back with another review video. Today I give you guys a quick tour of this AMAZING 2018 Tesla Model S P100D. This is a hypercar embarrassing red light monster with (around) 700-900+ all wheel HP/torque doing 0-60 in 2.23 seconds making it the fastest accelerating production car EVER at the time. It has the acceleration of a roller coaster, while also being a very practical and quite comfortable daily driver! The best of both worlds is not cheap though… This P100D’s MSRP was $152,000 back in 2018. In this review, I go through all the ins-&-outs, show you all of the interesting features, and then I take it out on the road for an absolutely righteous rip!
    Leave a comment down below, and let me know what you think of the Model S P100D. Thank you all so much for watching, and I hope you enjoyed my video! Picked up one of these for $52,000 a couple days ago. Simply all I have to say, just like when I first accelerated this beast "WHAT THE F**KKKKKKK". What an amazing car holy crap

    • @DoubleClutchAutoReviews
      @DoubleClutchAutoReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      OMG! That seems like a great price for one! Where are you located? Also, how many miles are on it, and did it need any major repairs? I would absolutely buy this car for $52k
      And yes, the acceleration is comparable to what I describe as your own personal roller coaster. It is mind-blowing... I couldn't ever give up manual transmission combustion motor vehicles completely. However, I can absolutely see myself very happily owning and daily driving one of these. Congrats on adding one to your fleet!

      @jianqiangxie1525 Thank you very much! That really means a lot to me. Yeah, sometimes my videos get significantly more views than I expect. And on the other hand unfortunately, they also sometimes get WAYYY less than I expected... I still hold out hope though, because sometimes it takes a while for the algorithm to help show certain videos to potential viewers. I also think timing of posts plays a huge factor... Still trying to figure out what works best for YT.

    Just scooped up this bad boy here in the Midwest for $58K w/ 29K miles - Ludicrous+, EAP & FSD included, thank GOD! Poor guy just got divorced and said 1st come 1st serve and I JUMPED on it! GOOD LORD am I impressed - and this is coming from a guy who drives around in a McLaren whenever I get the chance to go out West. I'll NEVER go back to a super car again!! Haha Thank you so much for your video!!

    • @DoubleClutchAutoReviews
      @DoubleClutchAutoReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DAMN 58k sounds like a steal! Good for you! I certainly feel sorry for that guy too, but at least you capitalized on the opportunity. Yes, this car is seriously impressive. That’s very funny you mention that about the McLaren also. This car is not only a super car competitor, but can be a super car killer!
      My friend Marc, The owner of this car, is actually a racing instructor at Thompson speedway in CT and has TONS of experience with driving some very fast cars on and off the track. He also has his own personal used car dealership, and he was planning on buying this car to sell it. However, now that he has daily driven it for several months, he fell in love with it! Now he says that this car impresses him so much on a daily basis, that he cannot bring himself to sell it. That’s how you know when a car is done right! My only true concern is long-term reliability of course, but that kind of comes with the territory of owning a modern car, especially an EV.
      Good luck with the new ride, and I hope you enjoy it for many years to come! Thank you very much for checking out my review! Sure, combustion engines will always hold a near and dear place in my heart. However, this car was easily one of the most fun, if not THE most fun car I've ever driven. This is purely because it was just SO fast immediately off of the line. And I know right... Clearly I wasn't enjoying myself! The warning decal he is explaining at the 3:12 mark instructs emergency crews what needs to be done before cutting into any part of the vehicle to free anyone who is trapped inside the vehicle.
    The onboard safety systems and Airbags will seriously hurt emergency personnel if these instructions are NOT followed. When the vehicle Air Bags are energized, they come out at speeds over 150 mph!

I just picked up my 2018 model s p100d today and it's even better than I could have imagined It feels extremely "refined" and a completely different experience compared to the Camaro SS I trade in. Thanks again for making these helpful reviews, keep up the great work.

      @@Jpandes I’m glad I found this comment lol. I’m really torn between buying a p100d and 2016 CTS-V. How do you like the Tesla compared the Cadillac? I’m just looking for a fast sedan and the Tesla is definitely faster of the two both stock. I’ve been a little worried about buying a Tesla out of warranty though. I’ve seen tons of videos showing all the issues they can have. What year was your V and do you have any regrets getting rid of it for the Tesla?

  • @brandoncarter2708

    This is so much better value than the plaid for only a couple ticks of a second slower to 60. Can get one used with low miles for around 60-65kI think I’ll trade my model 3 performance in for one in a year or 2 😊

    • @DoubleClutchAutoReviews
      @DoubleClutchAutoReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have a very good point. And that’s not a bad idea! The only thing is you’re really sacrificing giving up the model 3 is the slightly shorter wheelbase by about 3 inches, and less weight by about 600-700 lbs. But in exchange, you are getting sooo much more power (I’d say at least 50% more, but close to double). Teslas are pretty heavy no matter what though. Yet, this P100D still absolutely rips around corners, so I don’t think you’ll be missing the model 3 too much! Lol

    Is this with ludicrous mode? I'm looking to buy one but not sure if all p100ds have it or how to tell which ones do

    • @DoubleClutchAutoReviews
      @DoubleClutchAutoReviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! So, funny you ask that. Up until recently, all P100D models did come with ludicrous mode. Now, Tesla is apparently offering to have a $10,000 deduction in price on CPOs to have the software removed. I’m assuming that is to improve the longevity of the car by reducing the stress on the drivetrain that’s caused by the launch control. Therefore, making their warranties less likely to be capitalized on.
      To be perfectly honest, the car still accelerates INCREDIBLY hard by just stomping the throttle. That’s what I did in this video, because we were having an issue with launch control, so I just floored it. Clearly, I still had a HUGE smile on my face!
      IMO, you really don’t NEED launch control/ludicrous mode, even though it is very fun. However, I don’t think you’ll really be missing out that much if you don’t get it. If you end up going with one that does not have ludicrous mode, I feel like the $10,000 discount is potentially worth it!
      My best advice would be to call and double check with the seller if the one you’re looking at has ludicrous mode still active in the software or not. Then, take it for a good test drive, and punch it! If you are happy with the level of performance, I would just go with it if you feel like that specific car is a good option for you. That’s if you can get it for a fair price, of course!
      Best of luck with your search! Please also feel free to reach back out and let me know how it goes, or if you have any other questions. Take care, and have a good one! -Mark 😎

      I see where you’re coming from… That’s kind of the big problem with EVs in general; they don’t have any character or soul when comparing it to a select few rowdy combustion engine cars. They also don’t give the driver any rewarding feedback in regards to engine sound, or a shiftable (whether automatic, or manual) transmission for instance.
      However, where this car truly shines, along with a lot of other high HP/TQ EVs, is just how brutally fast they are! Especially off of the line, this car absolutely rips! As a driving enthusiast, I see both sides. No matter what, though, you cannot deny how much fun it is to floor it in this car. Whether you’re a diehard internal combustion engine guy or not, this car will put a HUGE smile on your face when you put the pedal down. 😎
