      Why only k-3, I could even see some use for it in first year college physics classrooms studying oscillating motion, of course that's assuming that changing the input voltage will speed up, or slow down the motor, and not just break it

    Once I bought this device that would auto-swimg your phone to give it fake steps for those AR games that you have to walk around like Street Pass, and Pokemon Go. Well I got it, and it did not do anything, and felt ultra light, so I disassembled it to see nothing on the inside. Only thing in there was the DC power connector floating in a drilled hole. Instantly got a refund on it.

    The way the water vibrates it makes me wonder if this little fellow would be any good on mixing paints in the miniature hobby (you know, Warhammer and stuff) It can't be worse than the cheap nail polish shakers and might give cheap vortex mixers a run for their money. Especially since you can fit so many paint pots into that thing to shake simultaneously.

    The ultrasonic I use is an Aliexpress AIPIO, paid like £20 for an all stainless steel construction small unit which is pretty potent and having two horns on such a small unit pretty much obliterated dirt and grime very quickly.

      @MarkFixesStuff bit of a side tangent, but I was watching another one of your vids where you mentioned BitFunx were a bit shady. What have your experiences been? I have used their SaturnPSU DC supplies in about 10 refurbed systems so far with no issues with the products themselves.

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are knock-off merchants who steal other people's designs. The quality is all right, sometimes a bit dodge. They knocked off LOADS of makers work.

    • @X-Bit-Gits
      @X-Bit-Gits 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @MarkFixesStuff yeah, that's not good then. I guess I shouldn't be surprised buying off Aliexpress 🫤. It's time to look for new vendors. Any suggestions for Saturn DC PSUs?

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My feelings on original PSUs is that really they are good designs already. The new versions that people design might be more efficient but servicing the old power supplies with good new capacitors is a great option. Have a look at this analysis by Bob from RetroRGB based on direct scrutiny by Voultar: www.retrorgb.com/dreamcast-replacement-psu-design-analysed.html - Sometimes new isn't always better I guess.

    You can get ultrasonic cleaners cheaply, I have one slightly bigger than this that cost me around $15. It is probably quite weak though, with no visible water movement but if you stick your finger in it you can feel the vibrations. Pretty sure it's legit, it was bought locally, runs on AC and has a metal container. Seems to work okay for cleaning jewelry.

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it works then it's likely a 40khz single transducer. won't remove rust but will clean the "patina" from metals, which is what it's made for.

    I really don't like the power switch they used, a bit unsafe with that switch in that spot. I called the rambler inside lol it looks real. I wonder if two motors 90 degree from each other would make it work a bit? prob not.

    Although i didn't know about the fact that plastics would be damaged by real transducers which would explain why genuine ultrasonic cleaners have a (stainless)steel pan or bath, at work i use 2 different sized (real) ultrasonic cleaners. Personally i don't like the sound of ultrasonic transducers in cleaning equipment so i'd only start them when i don't have to be around them, looking at the odd waves in the bath on the video (plus reveiling the vibrating motor) i don't recognize the waves from the equipment i use compared to the ones in the video, plus the sound from a fake cleaner is very different from a real one i would imagine.

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't include the original sound due to a mistake in editing, but it sounds like if you leave a "rumble" enabled game controller on a table whilst it's working. Nothing like the drone of a real UC as you correctly guess.

    I knew my "ultrasonic" was a fake! I hadn't got around to proving it yet, but it's just a bigger version of this. Mine was the USB Rechargeable version, and had a VERY odd looking plastic item, similar size/shape to a 9V battery, but appeared to be hand made, and all black plastic. Don't think a capacitor as it held charge for months, more like a cheap hand made Ni-CD perhaps. It put out around 4V on arrival. The battery case was completely disconnected.

    it may not be an ultrasonic cleaner but it's a sonic cleaner which does have some merit, since i don't have an ultrasonic i built a homemade sonic cleaner to clean motorcycle carburetors, i jsut have to leave them in longer than i would with an USCleaner but it does work........

    One minor nit; the fact that the unit only has 3V from the batteries to work with is not itself a showstopper. In theory you can use a boost converter to get whatever voltage the transducer needs, although you're unlikely to get more than an amp or two of current out of AAAs for any length of time so you're limited to a total power budget of maybe 5-10W with two of them, when you likely need something more like 20-40W to get effective cleaning even with a very small ultrasonic bath like this.

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yes. I know. The point being it wasn't a terribly goood sign to see it ran on two AAA batteries.

    I bought one of those and cleaned few different metal and plastic frames glasses. It worked perfectly, my dad was very surprised.
