what are these issues that keep on popping up for "content creators"? I keep on hearing them but no one ever elaborates, shows examples, nor does a testing and shows results of when/where/why they happen.
It's for video editing, photo editing, files sending, and transferring all falls under content creations. Most content creator are working with 8k to 4k videos so kinda hard ware intensive.
I was thinking i9 would be future proofing, but the power draw being so high doesnt make sense since newer tech is supposed to become more economical not less. The avg user shouldnt be paying for the electric bill of a server
Can someone give some examples of the intel being better for video editing stuff? I keep hearing it, but there's like no way of figuring out how significant the difference actually is
I’m thinking of building my first pc by August and I plan on building a pc good for both gaming and content creation. I want a cpu able to run games like cod at roughly around 200fps at 1440p give or take maybe 180 fps roughly minimum, and capable of streaming and editing TH-cam videos and thumbnails preferably at 1440p as well but it DOESNT have to be 4k or 2160p. What would be a good cpu for that? I was looking at the and Ryzen 7 7800x3d I think it’s called and the intel core i7 14700k
I’m pretty new into pc stuff myself but so far from what I learned intel is more used for content and ryzen for gaming and yes I know this doesn’t help you pick a cpu
Every AMD build i have ever made has had issues and niggles and has lasted no more than a few years before i got fed up with the issues and just built an intel. My last intel system lasted 10 years+ and my current one has been going about 5 years, solid as a rock. There is a reason servers use intel, they actually work.
i tried to like AMD but contrary to everyone else my temps were higher than intel and always had audio bugs and game crashes. swapped to intel and it is solid so far
Now it make sense.. ive come from i7 3rd gen to ryzen 3 and to ryzen 5-5600x. My pc on ryzen keep having crashes, random reboot, sometimes it work for 2 month, then weird problem occurs. Not a software problem. I didn't remember i had these problems on intel
Intel has been the most reliable based on our experience. We build ALOT of PCs and offer extensive support to our customers. Based on all that data and more, we believe Intel, as of now, is the way to go for Gaming and Streaming.
In which universe is Intel a good recommendation? There are niche use cases (Adobe) where that is defensible, otherwise I wouldn't recommend any Intel CPU even to my worst enemy (well maybe then).
I want an AMD for gaming and Intel for work but these next few generations are going to blur that line big time.. It could get weird if GPU companies try to integrate more functionality with their products to wedge into different Computational Markets like making processing blades on the consumer level~ "If"....
Though, my Intel has been doing great with games until the crashes lately and having to set the cores at 55.... Made me think it was something in the software more than the hardware.. Rocking the 13900K and going to wait for the newer AI cores!!!! Would love to see the new Intel GPU to work wonders with it and OpenVino + misc geek stuff~
I have intel i9 13900k. My game crashes every single time I load up apex. I’ve repaired game files and does drivers update and no solution. I even tried forcing the game to launch in direct 11 instead of direct 12 and still no luck. Makes me want to get a AMD because I’m tired of this.
So we have found an issue with the 13th gen and 14th gen i9’s. We’ve actually made a video of a fix on our Twitter. Definitely recommend checking it out! Could help you!
I had the same issue, i have set the cpu core voltage to auto, and removed the electronic core voltage modulation setting and power restrictions to 300w and 300A. The cpu is now very stable but only running at 5700mhz
One more thing, you meed a very beefy cooler, myn is mounted outside the case with 6 fans in push pull configuration and it still hits 100c very occasionally
I'm looking for a new laptop. I do gaming (mostly old school from Atari to PS2 to Xbox 360) and video editing on it. I also do photography and graphic design. What would be a good system for my specifications?
I’d recommend the Power Prestige in either Intel or AMD build. You can go up to the Power Elite on our site but that’s only if you are doing heavy graphic design work. PowerGPU.com
I went from Ryzen 3700x to 7950x, against some online reviews and many many videos. I've had zero issues. Solid stability and I can do whatever I want in multi-tasking with ECO mode on to add to that. Doesn't throttle and chews through everything. The Efficiency of the CPU in "my" tests have been stellar. The fact that I can run Eco mode, lose maybe 5-10% of nearly unnoticeable performance, run my equipment on a lighter draw and get solid performance is great. There's videos that support this. No flack to Intel. I thought about 14900k but at the time, I decided to go to a Full ATX instead of a MIcro and there were no good boards and board cost was too questionable. I got a great deal on my CPU and MB and I have zero regrets at this time. Probably will go back to Intel because I like to go back and forth over the years.
I'm getting Intel's next build. I have a 3700x and it's doing great, but with streaming and gaming at the same time, I'm waiting on the next generation of GPUs for the next setup so I can get the 4080 when the price drop if the 5070 haves a good price. I tell people to get Intel CPU's.

Any thoughts on the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS for gaming laptops? I've always gone with intel but I've heard that AMD has better temps which i think is important especially for laptops. Are boot times long for AMD laptops as well? Thank you..
Question. I'm on a budget (kind of #FinanceIt), and I've always been a bang for my buck kind of guy. Right now I have a 5600x & 7900xtx with 32gb of 3600ddr4. I edit video for music promotion, but I mostly game at 4k. Lot's of Helldivers 2. I considered upgrading to a 5800x3d, but I'm not sold on that. I'm finding the intel options very attractive. I haven't owned an intel CPU in a long time, but have fond memories with the Core-2-Duos. (aged myself there). Should I upgrade my AM4 platform to the 5800x3d, or go Intel and get a new motherboard and use my RAM until I'm able to replace it? Or go AM5, getting a new CPU, MB, and RAM? People online will say 5800x3d all day online, but I don't see the improvement for 4k. I've been driving myself crazy for days thinking about this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
@gunslinga7077 I just bought AM5 stuff last night. 7800x3d, Taichi Lite, 64gb ddr5 6000mhz. Its the Corsair Dominator, which seems to be catching some flak from people online for its cas40. I picked it based on some reviews.

I'm planning on building a gaming PC (or having it built for me), and I'm struggling to decide between something like "r7 5800x, rtx4070 super gpu, ddr4 mobo/ram, etc." or should I push my budget with something like "r7 7800x3d, rtx4080 super gpu, ddr5 mobo/ram, etc." I look at the recommended specs of the games I intend to play (DCS World, RDR 2, GTA 5, etc.), and both of these rigs should be overkill, but it's like a $1000 difference. Is it worth paying the extra considering games and stuff I might want to do with it in the future, or would that be a waste of money for unnecessary performance?

Ive been running i9 and have had no issues gaming with it. Quite the opposite, its worked flawlessly. Most current gen games are mote GPU heavy anyway so youre better off going with one that fits your price range. But i also do a lot of indie game developing in Unreal Engine and i9 processes builds in half the time and it may use slightly more power to do so, it still runs cooler doing it. So in my personal experience, i9 outperforms amd in cpu extensive processes by a mile.
Right now, the AMD 7800x3d and 4090 is the top combo. However, new hardware should be coming sometime soon. So if you can hold off for that, it may be worth it!
What is wrong with APUs? the Ryzen 7840HS is a fantastic chip. They are great for small entertainment system PCs, Display boards that have a high graphics workload but don't have the room or wattage for a dedicated GPU, They are great in lightweight-low-wattage laptops, or small discrete PCs that need "SOME" GPU ability but lack the wattage or cooling ability for their use case. High wattage equals high heat and shorter machine life span. Not every PC tower needs an i9 or Ryzen 9.... I have users that have to take their laptops to the middle east where it is 110 degrees in the shade AND their laptops need to be able to run engineering workloads. There no Intel chips I trust in these cases, but the AMD Ryzen APUs perform very well since they are low wattage, they are easier to cool but they can still perform 3D CAD workloads.
I can’t say I care about gaming too much, but I certainly hope to get tons of CPU performance, especially on fewer / single cores, WITHOUT turning my PC into a heat danger zone.
UPDATE since I keep seeing shadow comments: I switched my p-cores to 57x using intel tuner and the crashing stopped 99%. My mobo slightly overclocked my cpu causing the crashes.
I have two Ryzen laptops and a desktop I built back when 13700k came out that I swapped for a 14900k. Love em all! Looking forward to intel getting more efficient. Will be nice if intel can get even close to what AMD does efficiency wise. I love the battle going back and forth. Probably helps us get things a lil cheaper due to competition..
Am planning to build my first ever PC for IT work and video editing maybe even some gaming and streaming (but these last 2 are sides, not my main focus.) I like stability so Intel seems like a good choice even if they are power hungry… I was thinking 13600k but maybe I’ll go 14700k if the price is right… AMD apparently does have more upgrades hmmm interesting. Intel it is…
I will say from my experience, I bought an intel CPU i9 13900K and my cpu fried after months reaching crazy temps even with a crazy liquid cooler and now my games micro stutter, and I can’t even play certain games without it crashing immediately. Switching to AMD and I will never be back…
AMD used to be for people with a smaller budget and Intel was always stronger. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that anymore. I'd like to put together a new high-end setup for €2-3k without a graphics card. But I might get an AMD processor, Intel has too many problems at the moment.

Trust me, with the Core i9 14900KS with a proper cooling solution, you will lose zero performance Raptor Lake is truly the OC God of CPU’s. Nothing else except Threadripper 7995wx compares or comes close to beating it in general workloads. Extremely future proof even on the dead LGA 1700 socket. Or get an Intel Core i9 14900K processor like I did, undervolt heavily in BIOS immediately, for stability and 6 GHZ performance. Voltage Offsett must follow Intels fail safe of 243W. Or wait for Arrow Lake and Zen 5, rumored to be the most insane IPC uplift for both Intel and AMD CPU’s in generations. Best gaming CpU however, we all know it’s not even close, the 7800X3D and the 14900KS are the best of the best. 7950X3D is weaker than the 7800X3D, worse FPS and power efficiency.
This sure aged well. I was going to upgrade my 11700k to 14th gen then all these Intel issues came out. Guess I'll be holding out on upgrading or going Ryzen. Will probably wait for the new Ryzen release.
Threadripper 7000, quite literally. But the Core i9 14900K and 14900KS crush any workload thrown at them with the proper EKG TEC 2 custom loop water cooling. You must delid and direct dye with the 14900KS for maximum performance and stable undervolt temperatures. It can hit 6.9 to 7 GHZ on the performance cores! Tip: disable the Ecores in Bios if you want to overclock much higher than the standard 14900KS 6.20 GHZ P-Core OC, then turn it back on when you’re finished and you need the extra course for productivity workloads, but without the efficiency cores certain applications and games will benefit or not benefit.
That's because JayzTwoCents knows jack about AMD Ryzen. Example, he delidded his 7950X, put on liquid metal, did direct die cooling. I have done none of those things, and I have a 360 rad AIO. I do however know how to configure Ryzen, and not only were (are) my CB R23 results better than his, my temp at full CineBench multicore load is FIVE DEGREES LOWER than what he could achieve.
ha. The truth is you can pick pretty much anything from Intel or AMD that's not utter crap and be set for a majority of needs (with good - not top dollar - RAM/GPU/etc). The nuts thing is how close they are cost per watt for general processing, but in some edge/niche markets Intel does somethings that boggles the mind, and in almost the opposite AMD has the same thing (and they both do meh to good in the other's strengths). It's madding trying to build a server now.

Intel and AMD need to improve in 2024. Intel's prices are too high for their specs, while the Mac M4 offers great performance at a lower cost. A Mac mini M4 could be cheaper than building an AMD setup that matches its performance. AMD is not the ideal choice for video editing or Adobe software applications. In comparison, Intel and Nvidia perform well in these tasks.
The real deal is AMD and I'll explain why, you don't change sockets constantly, and that gives you the possibility to constantly upgrade without having to buy another motherboard, RAM among others. INTEL has the bad habit of changing sockets every 2 or 3 years, while AMD can last twice as long. Let's look at the example of the AM4 socket, it was launched in 2016 and they are still making processors. All you have to do is update the motherboard in flash option.

There is a reason servers use intel, they actually work.

Intel has been the most reliable based on our experience. We build ALOT of PCs and offer extensive support to our customers. Based on all that data and more, we believe Intel, as of now, is the way to go for Gaming and Streaming.
AMD Ryzen for only gaming.
Intel and AMD Threadripper or EPYC for gaming and everything else too.

Talked to Intel and they told me not to buy a i9 till after August 😅 that's when the final voltage fix will be out
As in a bios patch or a hardware fix?
@RyanPaulMcCarthy based off what they did, looks likes both.

I know intel is great for content creators, but how much of a difference is it between the two cpu’s? Id like a cpu thats best of both worlds.
Which one is better if you’re streaming and gaming at the same time ? Budget isn’t an issue
I got my prebuilt gaming pc with a 7800x3d RTX 4080 and wondered why sometimes it’s slow to boot 🤔
AMD does memory testing upon every single boot. There is a way to bypass that though. There should be some content on YT that can help with that!
The reason why intel crashes games on launch is because of speedstep and the setting below it in bios
