These are so interesting to watch. We probably won't move back to Philippines for a few years and probably not to this city... still it's fun to see room layouts and prices. Great job.
The units in Megaworld are too pricey. You can find other condo units for a lesser price around Atria or One Spatial. Better yet, rent a house inside a gated Subdivision. Your 500 USD can get you a decent house with 3 bedrooms and lots of space. And it's not too far from the supermarkets, hospitals and the malls.
Agree so much to your comment! Most over in the Philippines you get what you see in this video, for half the price! Like Bamboo Bay in Cebu/Mandaue City is just 15k for studio, and 23k for a 1 Br. And that places is really nice, amazing swimmingpool, gym and walking area. Nobody should ever pay more then 15k for a studio.
Totally agree i’ve seen many ilonggos renting their properties in Savanna in Oton for around that price and its a whole house and with sunset boulevard its easy to go to Megaworld. There are malls around Oton and Pavia too. I’ve seen La Fiesta hotel in Molo offering Promos for a month stay for around 25k pesos so I’m pretty sure many hotels offer Promos for a month stay too.
If you really want to stay in a condominium and worried about the roosters and dogs lol You might want to check out One Spatial. There are 2 bedroom units for rent around 30k PHP. That place is near the Esplanade, Molo Plaza as well as Megaworld. There are nearby restaurants and a supermarket as well.
It's difficult for me to imagine residing in such a confined and scaled down space. But looks nice. Great location. I definitely would get the upgraded curtain rod assembly 😂
Yea these condos are in the heart of Iloilo, and while they represent the newest properties available, are small and over priced for what you get. Ac has to run 24/7 as there is virtually no air flow, so expect another 5k in electric bills. Even thought it’s zoned residential, all utilities are charged on a higher scale than surrounding dwellings. Parking issue really starts at another 5-6 k pesos additional. There are slightly older developments in the near area that are more reasonably priced. As with most situations here, foreigner tax applies to everything. Cheers✌🏾
If you add 10% for condo dues these prices are 20% less than condos and apartments in nice neighborhoods in Dallas Texas. However I was not able to find anything for rent in Dallas that was smaller than 45sq meters. That studio you looked at was about 22 sq meters. Per square meter the IloIlo rents are actually considerably higher than Dallas Texas. Every condo you toured had a plastic faucet in the kitchen it costs about $25 a piece - cheaper in bulk. I think 90% of Filipino condos have that same faucet. All of the closets, headboards, tables and stands are pressed board super cheap junk. It is just shocking that they try to sell this stuff for $200k+
nice condos in your video. I like the one bedroom, but it's too expensive for me. I'll find a nice one bedroom for around 25k in a different area. Iloilo is a nice place to call home with the infrastructure, cleaner air, bike paths, and the esplanades for walking. Looking forward to my move there next month.
Great video ! Thanks so much for your review. Would love , at some point, to see comparisons with other apartments and homes further from downtown to get better ideas. Some gents wrote similar in their comments I believe.
Thanks for the video Gio... The weather didn't look conducive for a look around the downtown. I've seen a couple videos that show the downtown Iloilo area as being very new, well kept, and with lots of dining options. Hopefully you guys will get some good weather, and have a look around! Salamat...
When I was there early this year, I found that the prices they wanted for condos inside the MegaWorld bubble were extremely high compared to housing elsewhere in the city. It’s like living in BGC. Everything right there that you would need within walking distance.
Its pricy and overpriced coz they are expat…try negotiate ..1 bedroom cn coz you about 25k to 30k maximum..dont be fooled by them…thats the maximum price in iloilo
It always amazes me how small the condo's really are. The studio's look like small hotelrooms and even the three bdrm ones look claustrofobic, with a tiny closet (looks more like a jailcell) doubling as a maids room.. Imagine having to live there with 2 person and maybe a child and a maid! Not for me I guess. Keep showing us the reality of condo life, Gio 😊
Try to check out other condos like One Spatial just near the Esplanade, Avida Tower in Atria, SMDC Style Residences by SM Corporation, and the newly Bernwood Tower,,
Here in Jomtien, Thailand, The Rivera Jomtien with Sea view and 4 swimming pools, free parking garage.. for 1 bedroom, 16,000 Baht, $481. Vs The Philippines smaller size 1 bedroom with TV facing at odd angle from the couch.. 40,000 Pesos ($700).. I will stay here.
I agree the quality of the housing and food in thailand and vietnam is way above the philippines and for a lower cost. The only question is for those of us under age 50 there is no good way to stay in thailand legally. Of course there is the language barrier and the fact that thai women are significantly more money oriented. Even the so-called good Thai women are just way to obsessed with money compared to a filipina.
Even in minutes walk away from mass transport like the BTS Sky Train, MRT Metro and malls in Bangkok you can get a reasonable new fully furnished 1 bedroom condo unit approx. 35 sqm with pool, gym, etc. from 10 000 Bath and up. And from about 15 000 Bath and up you get a very luxurious one. There is a lot to like with the Philippines over Thailand. And I mean A LOT! But sadly the price of housing in reasonable central location is way too expensive and the health care for serious health conditions is normally not up to par in the Philippines. And that's the 2 most important things for me to consider when I retire within a few years.
@@wanderingdoc5075just be a digital nomad. Learn the local language no matter the country you go to. Jomtien is quite a dull place though Thailand has way better beaches than Jomtien especially in the south. Much younger more quality people in Krabi.
Thanks for showing us Gio. As usual very informative. I would have never found out about these condos. I'll be coming to Ph in Dec -Jan. I'm convinced to go to Iloilo & see if I can book to stay in these condos. Cheers!
Most of these places look to be ideal for a single guy that still hasn’t decided where he wants to live in the Philippines for the long term. The places look safe enough to where he can leave his belongings while he travels around the Philippines or other Asian countries. Obviously, if he’s planning to stay for the long term, he’ll probably want to get a larger and less expensive place. A few months to a year should give him enough time to find exactly where he wants to live going forward.
Hi Gio. The prices of these condos are for first world country residents but for third world budgets is very expensive. Maybe you could do a similar video for accomodation from 100$ up to 300$. Thanks Gio.
@@GiointhePhilippines Hey Gio, hope you are enjoying Iloilo. My wife and I moved to Iloilo from Puerto Princesa, Palawan in 2018 and within months, decided to stay. The development has been rapid since then. Were you aware that Megaworld was once the old Iloilo airport? Also, Golds gym is owned by a good friend of mine, Mark. It will actually "soft open" this month...fully opening Nov. 2024. I was there just yesterday and finishing touches are being done before the equipment installation will begin.
So true and much more modern design with better quality construction. I lived in Jomtien for two years in a nearly soundproof beautiful 30 sq meter for around 350 USD
Having lived in thailand for 12 years the phils doesn't come close in value for money or quality of rentals the phils is low quality vastly overated overpriced rubbish why anyone would retire there is a mystery the girls there are of a similar quality to the accommodation 4th rate very poor quality
💯 bigger, better amenities, and way cheaper. Thailand, Penang Malaysia, ong an, the only thing Philippines has going for it now is the ease of immigration. Vietnam, and Thailand are cheaper and much better overall.
The latest PSP 😅. I miss my old PSP. Beautiful units but pricing is on par with BGC. Neighborhood does look very nice. Not sure I would take it over BGC but not bad.
The Landers will rise within the Iloilo Business Park and it's going to be the biggest in the Philippines according to a good friend who is one of the executives of Megaworld Corp.
Hmm, those furnished 3 bedroom pool villas in Hua Hin, Thailand at $1500/month looking more and more appealing every time I see prices like this for small apartments in the Philippines.
There are far cheaper condos in the city like avida and bernwood condos. Megaworld’s condos are on the pricey side. Ikea is also going to build one of their biggest branch in Iloilo
While I understand there are cultural differences with how we prioritize our living spaces, but it still doesnt seem like a lot of thought goes into designing the floorplans for some of these apartments. Like the 1 bedroom. Why would the tv be mounted in the dining area? Another thing I dont understand his how a lot of times the showers dont have bases or shower pans. Why? It just seems like common sense that you dont want water all over the entire bathroom floor when you shower. 🤷🏾♂️ Also, it feels like Ive never seen central a/c in any of these places.
The best part of the Megaworld condos is paying 12M pesos to look outside at roosters and shack slum housing. Then, a mall with no significant retailers whatsoever. Iloilo is a joke.
Gio, how would you rate the quality of these apartments relative to the cost? I expected them to be nicer for the price, especially considering the location, but I have no reference to base that on.
Why is iit that Thailand seems to have way better condos, for half the price of these? I plan to retire in PH, but im now thinking I may split time between the two. Really want to small condo on ocean for under $800. Seem you can do that in Thailand easy. Not so much in PH? Bit disappointed, but if those are the prices, I will adjust. Thanks for the video
I have a 450 sq ft condo in USA so I am used to limited space. The layout of the place is horrible. I have rented my place when I was on assignment( year) for $800 a month. Really despise these condo places that are fleecing expats.
@ thank for the heads up. What’s the best company or website to use to find a place? My work allows me to work remote and we also have a office in Cebu but I’m looking to move to Dumaguete by next year.
All of them are so small for the price . I probably would take the studio it felt more open . The $1300 three bed three bath was ridiculous over priced for such a cramped space .
Hi Gio. The condos are nice but are overpriced. I find much better value in Thailand. The same size 1 bedroom condo would be like $400 usd in Thailand.
Very nice but prices are too high in my opinion. I'd rather be in a gated subdivision like yours or Camela homes or Royal Palms. Cheaper rent, more space and you still get the pool. Having a family with a child I'd rather not be in a condo
At those prices first thing I'd be asking if that's inclusive of electric, water and internet. Depending on the aspect on the upside the pool doesn't look like it catches a lot of sun so it would actually be cooler than a warm bath. What is it with Filipinos and TVs at silly viewing angles lol
That place and area look amazing at mega world . I realize these prices might seem high but it looks like great amenities. Also in comparison to what the prices are here in California it almost seems free 😂. Gio was internet and electric included or extra at these condos?
@@GiointhePhilippines thank you. Yeah even at those prices it seems not to bad . But I know that's because I am not in the Philippines yet . Currently living in a travel trailer in California and just my space rent is 1300 month . But the payoff will be great because of retiring early.
40k ($700) per month for that small condo is insane. I pay about 7k ($125) per month and I live in a nice two-story house. I guess the reason they put a hefty price tag on that condo is because it is fully-furnished. My place was empty. If you are looking to stay in the Philippines long term, I highly suggest getting an unfurnished place and buying all the stuff you need. In the long run, it will save you a ton of money. It looks like the condo costs 3k per month and 37k for the amenities. Totally not worth it. Save that 35k-37k per month for a couple of years and you can buy a nice lot and house in the Philippines. You said "people who live there are from all over" I think they are all from a town called idiotsville. The maid's room is a small closet. lol hahaha They just put one bed in a coffin room and just call it "the maid's room" great idea! And what's with the terrible claustrophobic design? I just want to hammer down those walls.
Being a vlogger isn't easy. I like the work you do and you have made me think about Iloilo but my biggest concern about Iloilo is BEING A SINGLE MAN THERE. Will it be too idle and lacking as far as nightlife entertainment?? Dumaguete was a nice experience but dating in Dumaguete was like waiting for a bus that wasn't coming and the WHYNOT BAR became too routine after a while so I left Dumaguete. I'm not sure if Iloilo would be enough for me???
@@GiointhePhilippines I can tell you like Iloilo or you wouldn't be there. My six months in Manila is finished this October 29 and when I return to PH next summer I should visit Iloilo for one or two weeks.
Like anywhere in the world you need to go to the big cities for nightlife. Makati in Manilla will have everything. Consider Cebu city. Both are a single's paradise. Get out there and meet people it's easy. Dumaguette is a small with mostly elderly men who have no interest in nightlife
With a name like Saint Dominique where is the chapel?😊 I thought the prices were high In real estate you call them sucker prices to see if someone is willing to pay more than you actually want.
$700 USD does not equal value for me. Live 10 mins away for $250 a month. Appreciate at least the vlog for showing the higher end, even though it would be out of my budget.

What is the shortest term you can do for renting a place at MegaWorld?
Just do Airbnb for a month
The best part of the Megaworld condos is paying 12M pesos to look outside at roosters and shack slum housing. Then, a mall with no significant retailers whatsoever. Iloilo is a joke.
Did I miss the Washer? I did not notice a washer or a hookup.
Yes, they are all equipped with washers
Im just curious, your thoughts on Cavite. Have you been?
Good video, but abit to expensive this ones, the Negotiation should be 40% cheaper atleast if it is a 1 year contract.
700USD for tight small 1 bedroom is too high , Philippines is getting expensive for the Westerners
Maybe because it's not for westerners...
@@ernestdmenace3200 You think it's for Philippinos?
Gio, how would you rate the quality of these apartments relative to the cost? I expected them to be nicer for the price, especially considering the location, but I have no reference to base that on.
Why is iit that Thailand seems to have way better condos, for half the price of these? I plan to retire in PH, but im now thinking I may split time between the two. Really want to small condo on ocean for under $800. Seem you can do that in Thailand easy. Not so much in PH? Bit disappointed, but if those are the prices, I will adjust.
Thanks for the video
wow way too high
Did I miss something, were the square meters of each unit mentioned ???
Sorry, I didn't get that. My bad!
"Small" is all you need
tiny
I have a 450 sq ft condo in USA so I am used to limited space. The layout of the place is horrible. I have rented my place when I was on assignment( year) for $800 a month. Really despise these condo places that are fleecing expats.
Better than renting in US
Do most condos allow pets such as cats and dogs?
50/50
@ thank for the heads up. What’s the best company or website to use to find a place? My work allows me to work remote and we also have a office in Cebu but I’m looking to move to Dumaguete by next year.
Nice condos, but those prices, that's getting close to prices in western europe, do they at least have power generators?
The Philippines is a joke. The prices are far from worth it. They ate pushing property to foriengers who are dumb enough to pay.
All of them are so small for the price . I probably would take the studio it felt more open . The $1300 three bed three bath was ridiculous over priced for such a cramped space .
nice condo tours Gio game room gym pool perfect
They seem little small for the money, good thing the price is negotiable. How many sqm? 🤔
Hi Gio. The condos are nice but are overpriced. I find much better value in Thailand. The same size 1 bedroom condo would be like $400 usd in Thailand.
Still Cebu is the best place!
Overpriced imo, very small. Anyway, are there oversupply of condos Vs. foreigners?
Very nice but prices are too high in my opinion. I'd rather be in a gated subdivision like yours or Camela homes or Royal Palms. Cheaper rent, more space and you still get the pool. Having a family with a child I'd rather not be in a condo
what about noise in these sub divisions?
So many cheap charlies in Philippines here 😂
Gio, I would prefer to live outside of the Expat bubble.
Geo those price are a joke in Iloilo. Which is the middle of nowhere
They weren't included but relatively cheap. The agent noted several times that it was negotiable on prices.
There is a lot of nightlife there actually. A nightclub in megaworld, several rooftop bars in hotels, etc...
@@GiointhePhilippines
I can tell you like Iloilo or you wouldn't be there.
Ilongga as they called them are not into much with foreigners.. They are quite aloof and disinterested.
These serve as temprory residences for newcomer digital nomad types. Not fir long term living , simply too small sqm
Holy cow! How can even a Philippino afford THAT!!
Most can't but there are rich Filipinos
They are looking for stupid foreigners
Mostly Filipinos who works overseas immigrants can afford.
75000 for basic condo I would want more luxurious condo and better appliances in kitchen a rip off
Too expensive, too small and too loud, right next to the busy road.
A condo is like a pool , it's just a hole in the air you keep dumping money itto , you never really own it .
Man! That is some serious skin tax. I wouldn’t even rent those places for half that amount. Guess I can keep Illo Illo off my radar. 😂
Skin Tax? same prices for locals.
Philippines is so expensive. In China, Vietnam or Thailand you would get much more for that price.
Completely agree!
Seems kinda high
With a name like Saint Dominique where is the chapel?😊 I thought the prices were high In real estate you call them sucker prices to see if someone is willing to pay more than you actually want.
Really expensive!
$700 USD does not equal value for me. Live 10 mins away for $250 a month. Appreciate at least the vlog for showing the higher end, even though it would be out of my budget.
I think way too high also.
Most places in world $700 USD is cheap now
As a local, those are ridiculously overpriced units in Megaworld. They were trying to sell their 'Smart Home' units for 25M PHP. 😅
Gio are you still in Iloilo? I'll take you for coffee
No sorry
The pool looks nice, but the condos themselves are still far too expensive for most expat’s I would think.
🤔
I can't for the life of me understand how the Philippines can charge that price for their condos. I guess if you're dumb enough then go for it.
Just lok for a house rent
Way overpriced should be max 500.00 usd. Pigs get fed hogs get slaughtered. 1 bedroom is tiny !!!
Iloilo looks better to me than Dumaguette
It is much better.
@@GiointhePhilippines I would prefer to have a house in a green area outside the city and drive a car.
Iloilo is kinda big looks like
Seems most of the comments here have no enough money to spend. Obviously this is for those who can spend more.
Exactly right, as they say in sales don't shop with your wallet.
Luxury's place....If you have millions maybe you can get this condo...Right? 😊
Philippines is not cheap.
That one bedroom apartment is over- priced.
Thailand is better developed and cheaper.
Illoilo is sinking?!
Too expansive in my opinion.
