    Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned,
    God make thee mightier yet!
    On Sov'ran brows, beloved, renowned,
    Once more thy crown is set.
    Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained,
    Have ruled thee well and long;
    By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained,
    Thine Empire shall be strong.
    Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
    How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
    Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
    God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet,
    God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.
    Thy fame is ancient as the days,
    As Ocean large and wide:
    A pride that dares, and heeds not praise,
    A stern and silent pride;
    Not that false joy that dreams content
    With what our sires have won;
    The blood a hero sire hath spent
    Still nerves a hero son.

      There are some wonderful recordings of the Pomp and Circumstance March #1 around, of which this is based. The Barbirolli, Solti, and Boult versions come to mind.

    The British Empire was the greatest force for Good that God ever made - look at the shape of former territories of the Empire now, compared with how they were under British Rule!

      So ungrateful after we saved you from Napoleon

      @@hansgruber788 Ungrateful for what? The U.K only got involved on Spain side because they benefited from it. It was the Spanish military and the Spanish guerrillas that repelled the Napoleonic invasion. Not to mention it was because of the U.K that most of the Spanish American colonies got independence right after the Napoleonic wars, the U.K funded and assisted them.

      @@a-aron5405 True the guerrillas were instrumental in France's defeat, but the Spanish military was utterly pathetic and you cannot deny that it was the British army under Wellington, combined with the guerrillas that kicked France out of Spain. Your government and army was useless but your guerrillas were great.
      And as for us funding the demise of your colonies, you did the same to us during the American Revolution but were too shortsighted to see that their independence would lead to your own colonies' wanting independence too

      @@hansgruber788 Although the monarchy was useless the military wasn’t. The military did land blows on Napoleon notably at the battle if Bailen. As for the American colonies there wasn’t a strong independence movement in the Spanish colonies. For example the very same people who got Mexico independence were Spaniards from Spain who made up the colonial army and when they got independence literally nothing changed, same caste system, same border, same treatment of the natives etc. Spain joined the American revolution primarily to regain it’s lost territories of Florida and Menorca and the reason I brought of the free maisons was because the other guy was saying to be “grateful” as if Spain and Britain hadn’t been landing blows on eachother since forever.
